Sikandar (1941): This film chronicles the period in the great king Alexanders life where he descends onto the Indian border at River Jhelum, after successfully conquering Persia and Kabul. While at these tasks, Alexander defies his mentor Aristotle by falling for a Persian woman named Rukhsana. Back at the Indian border Porus (Indian King Puru) fights Alexanders Macedonian army valiantly. However, Rukhsana extracts a promise from Porus that he wont harm Alexander in battle, which causes his incarceration at the hands of Alexander. Watch this movie to find out what happens next.

Synopsis : Rajguru (Sohrab Modi) decides that Jhansi should get its proper recognition in history. He comes across a young girl Manu (the young Rani Lakshmibai) played by Baby Shikha. Her father has been hit by a carriage driven by an English driver. She gathers a few children to confront the driver. This and her confrontation with an elephant impresses the Rajguru who takes her in hand, shaping her into becoming a determined leader. He arranges for her, at the age of nine, to marry the much-older ruler of Jhansi, Gangadhar Rao (Mubarak), who is about fifty years, and become Queen.
Manu grows up under the expert tutelage of the Rajguru, learning physical combat and political administration. The older Manu now called Lakshmibai gives birth to a boy who dies. She adopts another boy Damodar Rao who the English refuse to accept as the rightful heir. This further sets her against the British. During the uprising of 1857 (1857 Mutiny) she fights against them succumbing to her injuries in the end.

Sohrab Modi
Sohrab Modi (1897–1984) was an Indian Parsi stage and film actor, director and producer. His films include Khoon Ka Khoon (1935), a version of Shakespeare's Hamlet, Sikandar, Pukar, Prithvi Vallabh, Jhansi ki Rani, Mirza Ghalib, Jailor and Nausherwan-E-Adil (1957). His films always carried a message of strong commitment to social and national issues.
Early life
Sohrab Merwanji Modi was born 2 November 1897 in Bombay. After finishing school, he became travelling exhibitor in Gwalior with his brother Keki Modi. At 16 he used project films in Gwalior's Town Hall and at 26 set up his Arya Subhodh Theatrical Company. Sohrab began as a Parsi theatre actor with some experience in silent films. He earned quite a reputation as a Shakespearean actor, travelling throughout India with his brother's theatrical company and enjoying the tremendous sense of fulfillment every time the curtain came down and the audience applauded. However, with the advent of the sound film in 1931, theatre was declining. To rescue this dying art, Modi set up the Stage Film Company in 1935. His first two films were filmed versions of plays. Khoon Ka Khoon (1935) was an adaptation of Hamlet and marked Naseem Bano's acting debut. The second, Said-e-Havas (1936) was based on Shakespeare's King John. Both films failed.

Synopsis : Rajguru (Sohrab Modi) decides that Jhansi should get its proper recognition in history. He comes across a young girl Manu (the young Rani Lakshmibai) played by Baby Shikha. Her father has been hit by a carriage driven by an English driver. She gathers a few children to confront the driver. This and her confrontation with an elephant impresses the Rajguru who takes her in hand, shaping her into becoming a determined leader. He arranges for her, at the age of nine, to marry the much-older ruler of Jhansi, Gangadhar Rao (Mubarak), who is about fifty years, and become Queen.
Manu grows up under the expert tutelage of the Rajguru, learning physical combat and political administration. The older Manu now called Lakshmibai gives birth to a boy who dies. She adopts another boy Damodar Rao who the English refuse to accept as the rightful heir. This further sets her against the British. During the uprising of 1857 (1857 Mutiny) she fights against them succumbing to her injuries in the end.

Nausherwan-E-Adil (Nausherwan, The Just) also called Farz Aur Mohabbat, is a 1957 costume action drama Hindi/Urdu film directed by Sohrab Modi. Produced by Minerva Movietone, it had music composed by C. Ramchandra with lyrics by Parwaiz Shamshi. The story, screenplay and dialogue writer was Shams Lucknowi. The cinematographer was Lateef Bhandare. The cast included Sohrab Modi, Naseem Banu, Mala Sinha, Raaj Kumar, Bipin Gupta and Shammi.
Sultan-e-Iran (Emperor of Iran) is a Just ruler and known as such, Nausherwane-e-Adil (Nausherwan The Just) (Sohrab Modi). His laws are equal for everyone and follows them in his dispensation of Justice. However when questioned about a certain ruling by a Christian priest David (Bipin Gupta), he realises that the laws he is following have come down through ages without being written down. He decides to rectify this and gets his Wazir (Niranjan Sharma) to start work on it. Nausherwan now decides to go incognito into his country to see for himself if his people are contented and happy. When he returns he sets about bringing reformation in the laws with the help of his judiciary. He puts forth two laws; anyone deceiving a girl will be walled up, and anyone betraying the state will be put to death.
Nausherwan has a wife (Naseem Banu) and two sons, Naushahzad (Raaj Kumar) and Hormuz. He now declares his older son Naushahzad as heir to the throne. Naushahzad saves a young girl when he fishes her out of the water with the help of his friend Altaf (Agha). They take her to the priest David where it’s discovered that she’s his long-separated daughter, Marcia (Mala Sinha). Naushazad says he’s a Christian named Joseph. Soon Marcia and Joseph(Naushahzad) fall in love. Joseph now declares to his mother (who's also a Christian) that he's a Christian, but she asks him to keep it hidden from his father as only an Iranian (Zorastrian) can become the ruler. Complications arise and Nausherwan is tested when David and Marcia come to him demanding justice as they feel Naushhzad, as Joseph, has deceived them. When Nausherwan pronounces judgement as set down by his laws, Naushahzad revolts and is fought off by the Commander (Murad) who wounds him critically. Marcia kills herself with a dagger. Nausherwan now renounces his kingdom and establishes his younger son Hormuz as the new ruler.

Sikandar (1941): This film chronicles the period in the great king Alexanders life where he descends onto the Indian border at River Jhelum, after successfully conquering Persia and Kabul. While at these tasks, Alexander defies his mentor Aristotle by falling for a Persian woman named Rukhsana. Back at the Indian border Porus (Indian King Puru) fights Alexanders Macedonian army valiantly. However, Rukhsana extracts a promise from Porus that he wont harm Alexander in battle, which causes his incarceration at the hands of Alexander. Watch this movie to find out what happens next.
