Nevada (Spanish for "snow covered") is a state in the Western, Mountain West, and Southwestern regions of the United States of America. Nevada is the 7th most extensive, the 35th most populous, and the 9th least densely populated of the 50 United States. Nearly three-quarters of Nevada's people live in Clark County, which contains the Las Vegas–Paradise metropolitan area where three of the state's four largest incorporated cities are located. Nevada's capital is Carson City. Nevada is officially known as the "Silver State" due to the importance of silver to its history and economy. It is also known as the "Battle Born State", because it achieved statehood during the Civil War (the words "Battle Born" also appear on the state flag); as the "Sagebrush State", for the native plant of the same name; and as "Sage hen State". Nevada borders Oregon to the northwest, Idaho to the northeast, California to the west, Arizona to the southeast and Utah to the east.
Nevada is largely desert and semiarid, much of it located within the Great Basin. Areas south of the Great Basin are located within the Mojave Desert, while Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada lie on the western edge. About 86% of the state's land is managed by various jurisdictions of the U.S. federal government, both civilian and military.
Mesquite is a city in Clark County, Nevada, United States, adjacent to the Arizona state line and 80 miles (130 km) northeast of Las Vegas on Interstate 15. As of the 2010 United States Census, it had a population of 15,276. The city is located in the Virgin River valley. It is home to a growing retirement community, as well as several casino resorts and golf courses.
Mesquite was settled by Mormon pioneers in 1880, who called it Mesquite Flat. The community was finally established on the third attempt after having been flooded out from the waters of the Virgin River. The name was later shortened to Mesquite, and the city was incorporated in May 1984. Mesquite, like nearby Bunkerville, had its origins in farming. The Peppermill Mesquite casino, which opened in the 1970s, drove Mesquite's diversified economy. The city incorporated in 1984 and established a master development plan during the early 1990s. In the mid-1990s, more casinos opened. By 2006, Mesquite was one of the fastest-growing small towns in the United States, though the late-2000s recession led to the closure of both the Mesquite Star and Oasis casinos.
Mesquite is the common name for several species of small trees. They are native to the southwestern United States and Mexico (except for creeping mesquite, which is invasive in southern California). Mesquite is one of the most expensive types of lumber in the U.S. A mature tree can be milled and sold for thousands of dollars. It was a very popular type of wood used by early Spaniards to build ships; but is now used most commonly for high end rustic furniture and cabinets. Scraps and small pieces are used commonly as wood for cooking in southern states; and also brings a premium on the market.
The Tamaulipan mezquital ecoregion, in the deserts and xeric shrublands biome, is located in the southern United States and northeastern Mexico. It covers an area of 141,500 km2 (54,600 sq mi), encompassing a portion of the Gulf Coastal Plain in southern Texas, northern Tamaulipas, northeastern Coahuila, and part of Nuevo León
This tree blooms from spring to summer.
The English word mesquite is borrowed from the Spanish word mezquite, which in turn was borrowed from the Nāhuatl term mizquitl.
The Bundy standoff was an armed confrontation between protesters and law enforcement that developed from a 20-year legal dispute between the United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and cattle rancher Cliven Bundy, over unpaid grazing fees on federally owned land in southeastern Nevada.
The ongoing dispute started in 1993, when, in protest against changes to grazing rules, Bundy declined to renew his permit for cattle grazing on BLM-administered lands near Bunkerville, Nevada. According to the BLM, Bundy continued to graze his cattle on public lands without a permit. In 1998, Bundy was prohibited by the United States District Court for the District of Nevada from grazing his cattle on an area of land later called the Bunkerville Allotment. In July 2013, the BLM complaint was supplemented when federal judge Lloyd D. George ordered that Bundy refrain from trespassing on federally administered land in the Gold Butte area of Clark County.
On March 27, 2014, 145,604 acres of federal land in Clark County were temporarily closed for the "capture, impound, and removal of trespass cattle". BLM officials and law enforcement rangers began a roundup of such livestock on April 5, and an arrest was made the next day. On April 12, 2014, a group of protesters, some of them armed, advanced on what the BLM described as a "cattle gather." Sheriff Doug Gillespie negotiated with Bundy and newly confirmed BLM director Neil Kornze, who elected to release the cattle and de-escalate the situation. As of the end of 2015, Cliven Bundy continued to graze his cattle on Federal land and had not paid the fees.

https://www.expedia.com/Yosemite-National-Park.d180672.Destination-Travel-Guides Yosemite National Park sits on the western slopes of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most visitors spend their time in Yosemite Valley, which despite being only 7 miles long and 1 mile wide, packs in more jaw-dropping scenery than just about any other place on Earth. Near the valley entrance stop at Tunnel View, and stand before a panorama that’s reduced generations of visitors to silence. From Tunnel View it’s just a short drive to Bridalveil Fall. Fed by snowmelt, the fall reaches its thundering peak in May. The Yosemite Valley ring road follows the banks of the Merced River, which shifts in character as it thunders from the valley walls, before gently winding across the valley floor. The ring r...
--- http://MovingPostcard.com --- Downtown Las Vegas, centered around Fremont Street, is the historic alternative to the Las Vegas Strip. It's where it all began, when it comes to gambling, booze and broads... and spontaneous brides... When Scott and I traveled to Las Vegas to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, we already knew we'd be headed to downtown Las Vegas for a renewal of vows ceremony at the Graceland Wedding Chapel with Las Vegas Elvis. But it was Scott's brother, Stephen Conklin, who lives in Las Vegas, who suggested we also experience the historic downtown at night. Can't deny the suggestion of a local! So on Anniversary Eve, he whisked us away from The Strip for a fun night out around Fremont Street. We started with dinner at Oscar's Steakhouse in the Plaza Hotel. The r...
Finally, Germany, our last stop. :) Yadi and Yiou picked us up from the Dortmund airport and drove all the way up to Flandersbach, our Airbnb place. Yiou even cooked us an awesome dinner. The next day, we travelled to Cologne, where we visited Cologne Cathedral, the largest Gothic church in Northern Europe and has the second-tallest spires and largest façade of any church in the world. It is truly a masterpiece of epic proportion. We love German bakeries. It made our heart beat faster looking at the breads, cakes and pastries on display. One particular favorite is roggenmischbrot – a light rye and wheat sourdough loaf. It is soft, tasty and heavenly delicious. :P Borussia Dortmund has the highest average attendance of any football club worldwide and Germany's biggest stadium. Their sup...

Imagine soaring through desert and mountain terrain more than a thousand feet above the ground – and not in a plane or helicopter. Instead of hiking or bike riding down trails, Bootleg Canyon Flightlines’ zip-line tour in Boulder City allows adventure seekers to “fly” and get a whole new perspective on the beautiful desert valley below. “These unique aerial trails attract, educate and amaze people,” said Ian Green, co-founder of the GreenHeart Conservation Company. “[It] allows them to follow the path of a bird. You will not find a more exhilarating trail in the world.” While Las Vegas provides several extreme outdoor adventures, Bootleg Canyon Flightlines proves to be one of a kind. “This ride is aided by nature,” said Green. “The freedom of silent flight – unless you like to scream –...
