Editor in Chief

Jay C. Barmann

sfist_jay bio.jpg
Jay C. Barmann is a fiction writer and web editor originally from the East Coast, transplanted to the Left Coast about a decade ago. He hopes someday to sell his novel, and also hopes to find the perfect pair of gym shoes that double as day shoes.

Assistant Editor

Caleb Pershan

Caleb Pershan has written for San Francisco magazine, The Bold Italic, and Modern Farmer magazine. His karaoke influences include Al Green, The Talking Heads, and Blondie. He can be found, rather easily, in the Mission arrondissement.

Contributing Editor

Jack Morse

Jack Morse co-edited Uptown Almanac and wrote for SF Weekly before joining the ranks of SFist. You've probably seen him at the park.

Senior Editor/Emerita

Eve Batey

eve_pic_bio.jpg

Eve Batey was a founding writer and lead editor of SFist, before becoming a Deputy Managing Editor at the SF Chronicle. She's the founder of the San Francisco Appeal and is the co-proprietress of Slow News Day. Some things from her original staff profile she still agrees with, others, not so much. She lives in the Outer Sunset with a bunch of animals and her husband, all of whom you'll meet if you ever come out for pizza.

Sports Editor

Daisy Barringer

dbarriner.jpg
Daisy's a die-hard Niners fan who moved to San Francisco when she was six years old and though she considers herself a "local," knows better than to ever call herself "a native." She lives in the Upper Haight/Cole Valley, but spends as much time as possible in Tahoe with her 150 pound Saint Bernard, Monkey. She also has season tickets for the 49ers, but kind of regrets that decision as of late.

Sports (Giants/Warriors)

E.Chang

echang.jpg

Daly City raised, San Francisco made. The first five loves of E.Chang's life were his mother, father, and 3 younger sisters. Then in 1986, he found the San Francisco Giants and 49ers and has been swooning ever since. He spent his childhood summers playing baseball at a sandlot in Gellert Park and trading baseball cards at his parents' comic book shop on 36th and Balboa. He and his baseball cards now live in the Mission District.

Opera Critic

Cedric Westphal
As SFist's resident Philistine, Cedric covers opera, symphony, and other performing arts. Also, Cedric is a member of the Caltrain Bike Car Crew, which as everyone knows, is the coolest public transit posse around.

Arts Contributor

Rain Jokinen

rjokinen.jpg
Rain was born and raised in San Francisco and, miraculously, still calls the city home. She wrote her first movie review at the age of 12, and since then has written about movies, TV, and theatre for SFist, SFGate, the Chronicle, the San Francisco Appeal, and full-circle back to SFist. Her future plans include becoming a millionaire, buying a condo complex, and then tearing it down to replace it with a dive bar.

Contributor

Joe Kukura

jkukura.jpg Joe Kukura is a freelance writer who excels at cultural histories, NBA analysis and the homoerotic double-entendre. He bounces around professionally between SFist, Broke-Ass Stuart and SF Evergreen and his work has appeared in the New York Times and Wall Street Journal on days when their editors made questionable decisions.
