PROGRESSIVE WRITERS GROUP
Our goal has always been singular: Replacing the helplessness of the individual writer with the collective bargaining strength of the union! Towards this end, we worked hard to lobby for the Copyright Act amendment, and initiated negotiations with producers on the Model Contract. It is imperative that the Progressive Writers Group continues to steer FWA so that these two tasks be brought to fruition. This is critical since the future of Indian screenwriters depends on that.

The Copyright Act Amendment Bill: Ought to go through parliament in the next few months, on the outside.
FWA on international platforms: We became members of the International Affiliation of Writers Guilds in after addressing their AGM in October 2011. FWA has been invited to present a paper and represent Indian screenwriting at the World Conference of Screenwriters in November 2012. FWA will continue to conduct the Indo-German Screenwriting Workshop for the second year, in 2013.
Educational events for writers: Workshops, seminars and conferences will continue to be organized. The 3rd Indian Screenwriters Conference will be held this year.
The new website: Now you can register your work online! Moreover, the new website has received an overwhelming response to its content and design. The good work will continue.
The new office: Finally, an office that you can be proud of. Many new activities, including regular lectures, discussions and study-circles planned.

Anjum Rajabali
Anjum Rajabali is a prolific Indian screenwriter. He has spent over 20 years in the Indian film industry with films like Drohkaal, Ghulam, The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Raajneeti to his credit. He is also known for his leadership and contribution to various writers’ rights initiatives in India, most notably recognized for lobbying with other prominent writers and activists for amendments in the Copyright Act in favour of writers.
Career
He began his career in the film industry as an associate scriptwriter for the critically acclaimed Drohkaal (1994). In 1998, Anjum wrote the screenplay for the film China Gate along with writing the story and screenplay for the hit crime-thriller Ghulam, starring Aamir Khan and Rani Mukherji. In the following years, Anjum is credited with writing for prominent films across a variety of genres, including the action film Kachche Dhaage (1999), the drama Pukar (2000), the biographical film The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) and the horror Naina (2005). He was the script consultant on Prakash Jha’s crime-drama Apaharan (2005) and Anjum’s association with him extended for the next four successive films that Prakash Jha directed, with Anjum writing for Raajneeti (2010), Aarakshan (2011), Chakravyuh(2012) and his latest release Satyagraha (2013).

Anjum
Anjum (West Frisian: Eanjum) is a village in the Dutch province of Friesland. It is located in the municipality Dongeradeel.
History
The name of the village is often said to mean "home of the Anos or Aningas". Another explanation is that it comes from the word "Hanjum" (corner). It is thought that Anjum's surroundings were once much more densely populated.
The terp of Anjum was set up on a then-existing marsh ridge and, in the course of time got bigger and bigger. The village frequently suffered floods. The All Saints' Flood (1570) claimed hundreds of victims, and the Christmas flood of 1717 drowned 53.
Railway
From 1913 to 1935 Anjum was the terminus of the North Friesland Railway. The line reopened in May 1940 and closed in July 1942. The station building still stands.

Calling all FWA Members: Our elections are here! It is time for you to check your membership cards to see if renewal is necessary. (If you aren't a member yet, please do visit the office immediately to become one. This is important.)

PROGRESSIVE WRITERS GROUP
Our goal has always been singular: Replacing the helplessness of the individual writer with the collective bargaining strength of the union! Towards this end, we worked hard to lobby for the Copyright Act amendment, and initiated negotiations with producers on the Model Contract. It is imperative that the Progressive Writers Group continues to steer FWA so that these two tasks be brought to fruition. This is critical since the future of Indian screenwriters depends on that.

The Copyright Act Amendment Bill: Ought to go through parliament in the next few months, on the outside.
FWA on international platforms: We became members of the International Affiliation of Writers Guilds in after addressing their AGM in October 2011. FWA has been invited to present a paper and represent Indian screenwriting at the World Conference of Screenwriters in November 2012. FWA will continue to conduct the Indo-German Screenwriting Workshop for the second year, in 2013.
Educational events for writers: Workshops, seminars and conferences will continue to be organized. The 3rd Indian Screenwriters Conference will be held this year.
The new website: Now you can register your work online! Moreover, the new website has received an overwhelming response to its content and design. The good work will continue.
The new office: Finally, an office that you can be proud of. Many new activities, including regular lectures, discussions and study-circles planned.

Synopsis :- "In 2008, Deepak Kumar (Saif Ali Khan) is at an interview for the teacher's post at an affluent school. The interviewers turn him down when they discover his low-class roots. Deepak relates the incident to his mentor, Dr. Prabhakar Anand (Amitabh Bachchan). Dr Anand, the legendary principal of renowned STM college, offers Deepak an interim job as a teacher at STM. Deepak is comforted by his friend, Sushant (an upper-class boy), and his girlfriend Poorbi (Deepika Padukone), who is Dr. Anand's daughter.
The state minister, Baburam, wishes to enroll his no-good nephew at STM. Dr. Anand however, turns him down. The minister decides to install his own man, Mithilesh Singh, on the STM college board. Cunning and greedy, Mithilesh seeks only to enrich himself. The minister's grand ambition is to build a multi-billion educational conglomerate, and plans to use Mithilesh's outside business—a coaching class—for it.
The Supreme Court grants reservations for Other Backward Classes. A large crowd of STM students, boisterously celebrating the ruling, arrive at the gates of STM and start a ruckus. Sushant gathers a group of upper-caste boys and tries to drive off the revellers. Dr. Anand hauls Deepak and Sushant, but is shocked to find that Deepak has turned on him. Poorbi later confronts Deepak and orders him to apologize to her father, but he refuses, leading to their breakup.
The backward classes welcome reservations because it provides additional opportunities for education. The upper classes are against reservations because they believe in a level-playing field. These arguments are played out between Sushant and Deepak. The moderate STM administrators are afraid that college-level reservations may create conflicts between the students. When asked by a reporter, Dr. Anand shares his personal opinion - that some form of reservation, free of politics and economics, is good for society. The next day's headlines scream that Dr. Anand favors reservations. The STM board is outraged; Dr. Anand is warned that Mithilesh will use this to oust him. Dr. Anand resigns from STM, and Mithilesh is appointed as the new principal.
Dr Anand resolves to take out Mithilesh with the only weapon left: teaching. He approaches his friend, Shambhu the cowherd, and takes shelter at the tabela (cowshed). He begins teaching small groups of needy and backward students from the bastee (nearby neighborhood), at the cowshed. His first success is Muniya, Shambhu's daughter, who comes in first place at the board exam. Muniya's principal offers to send more students to Dr. Anand's tabela school. Deepak and Sushant return to Dr. Anand and join forces, teaching at the tabela school. The tabela students fare much better at the exams than their classmates. The tabela school's reputation grows and begins to draw away students at Mithilesh's coaching class.
Mithilesh responds by obtaining a legal permit to demolish the cowshed. The situation is diffused by the arrival of Shakuntala Tai, the reclusive magnate who started the STM institutions. She calls the chief minister, who promptly averts the destruction of the cowshed. Mithilesh is dismissed, and Dr. Anand is installed as the chief trustee of the STM and lifelong principal of the newly-created STM Remedial Center."
