THE COBBLER is a warm and character-driven comedy that plays to the strengths of Adam Sandler’s and Thomas McCarthy's most commercial successes. Sandler plays a 4th generation shoe-maker who discovers a magical sewing machine in his father’s basement that allows him to transform into other people by wearing their shoes. Handlung von The Cobbler
Max Simkin (Adam Sandler) hat bis jetzt nicht viel erlebt. Als Schuster repariert er die Schuhe anderer Leute und zwar in dem Geschäft, in dem Generationen seiner Familie bereits gearbeitet haben, unter anderem auch sein Vater (Dustin Hoffman). Eine der wenigen von Max’ Bezugspersonen ist seine Mutter (Lynn Cohen) und Max ist gelangweilt von dem immer gleichen Alltag. Als Max eines Tages ein altes Erbstück entdeckt und in die Schuhe von einem seiner Kunden (Method Man) schlüpft, traut er seinen Augen nicht, als er sich auch äußerlich in diese Person verwandelt. Max merkt, dass er sein kann, wer er will, je nachdem, in wessen Schuhe er tritt, ob die des Freundes seiner Angebeteten oder die seines Vaters. Dadurch beginnt Max langsam zu begreifen, wer er wirklich ist.

The Cobbler (Scottish Gaelic: Beinn Artair) is a mountain of 884 metres (2,900 ft) height located near the head of Loch Long in Scotland. Although only a Corbett, it is "one of the most impressive summits in the Southern Highlands", and is also the most important site for rock climbing in the Southern Highlands. Many maps include the name Ben Arthur (an anglicisation of the Gaelic), but the name The Cobbler is more widely used.
The mountain is the most spectacular, although by no means the highest of the so-called Arrochar Alps, due to its distinctive, large rocky summit features which are supposed to represent a cobbler bending over his last. The features are visible many miles away from the mountain. Despite the mountain falling short of Munro height, due to its summit features, ease of access, and excellent summit views, it is one of the most popular mountains in Scotland.
The Cobbler has three distinctive summits: the middle one is the highest. The top is crowned by a rocky outcrop that marks the true summit. A very good head for heights is required to attain the true summit, which can best be reached by crawling through a hole (known as the needle) in the summit rock formation from the north side to the south. This leads to a ledge around 1 m (3 ft 3 in) wide, with a sheer drop of well over 100 ft (30 m) on one side. The ledge is steeply inclined, and some scrambling ability is necessary to negotiate it and eventually gain the summit. Using this route is known as "threading the needle". The easiest descent is by the same route – however, this is more difficult and extreme care must be taken, especially when descending the final part of the ledge. The mica schist rock is very slippery in the wet and falls can be deadly.

Dustin Lee Hoffman (born August 8, 1937) is an American actor with a career in film, television, and theatre since 1960. He has been known for his versatile portrayals of antiheroes and vulnerable characters.
He first drew critical praise for the play Eh?, for which he won a Theatre World Award and a Drama Desk Award. This was soon followed by his breakthrough movie role as the good-looking but troubled Benjamin Braddock in The Graduate (1967). Since then Hoffman's career has largely been focused on cinema, with only sporadic returns to television and the stage. Some of his most notable films are Papillon, Marathon Man, Midnight Cowboy, Little Big Man, Lenny, All the President's Men, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, Rain Man, Wag the Dog, and Meet the Fockers.
Hoffman has won two Academy Awards (for his performances in Kramer vs. Kramer and Rain Man), five Golden Globes, four BAFTAs, three Drama Desk Awards, a Genie Award, and an Emmy Award. Dustin Hoffman received the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1999.

Steven Vincent "Steve" Buscemi (/bʉˈʃɛmi/ boo-SHEM-ee or boo-SEM-ee; born December 13, 1957) is an American actor, writer and film director. An associate member of the renowned experimental theater company The Wooster Group, Buscemi has starred and supported in successful Hollywood and indie films including New York Stories, Mystery Train, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Desperado, Con Air, Armageddon, The Grey Zone, Ghost World and Big Fish; and the HBO television series The Sopranos. He is also known for his appearances in many films by the Coen brothers: Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, Fargo, The Big Lebowski and Paris, je t'aime.
Since 2010, he has starred in the critically acclaimed series Boardwalk Empire, which earned him two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe, and a nomination for an Emmy Award.
He made his directorial debut in 1996, with Trees Lounge, in which he also starred. Other works include Animal Factory (2000), Lonesome Jim (2005) and Interview (2007).

Handlung von The Cobbler
Max Simkin (Adam Sandler) hat bis jetzt nicht viel erlebt. Als Schuster repariert er die Schuhe anderer Leute und zwar in dem Geschäft, in dem Generationen seiner Familie bereits gearbeitet haben, unter anderem auch sein Vater (Dustin Hoffman). Eine der wenigen von Max’ Bezugspersonen ist seine Mutter (Lynn Cohen) und Max ist gelangweilt von dem immer gleichen Alltag. Als Max eines Tages ein altes Erbstück entdeckt und in die Schuhe von einem seiner Kunden (Method Man) schlüpft, traut er seinen Augen nicht, als er sich auch äußerlich in diese Person verwandelt. Max merkt, dass er sein kann, wer er will, je nachdem, in wessen Schuhe er tritt, ob die des Freundes seiner Angebeteten oder die seines Vaters. Dadurch beginnt Max langsam zu begreifen, wer er wirklich ist.
