Jamaah Tabligh tentu bukan nama yang asing lagi bagi masyarakat kita, terlebih bagi mereka yang menggeluti dunia dakwah. Dengan menghindari ilmu-ilmu fiqh dan aqidah yang sering dituding sebagai ‘biang pemecah belah umat’, membuat dakwah mereka sangat populer dan mudah diterima masyarakat berbagai lapisan.
Bahkan saking populernya, bila ada seseorang yang berpenampilan mirip mereka atau kebetulan mempunyai ciri-ciri yang sama dengan mereka, biasanya akan ditanya; “Mas, Jamaah Tabligh, ya?” atau “Mas, karkun, ya?” Yang lebih tragis jika ada yang berpenampilan serupa meski bukan dari kalangan mereka, kemudian langsung dihukumi sebagai Jamaah Tabligh.
Pro dan kontra tentang mereka pun meruak. Lalu bagaimanakah hakikat jamaah yang berkiblat ke India ini?

Tapi Jamaah Tabligh, mereka tidak hanya tahu berapa jumlahnya, tapi bahkan mendata dengan detil berapa jumlah orang yang sholat dan tidak sholat disekitar masjid. Mana yang pro dan kontra. Pokoknya data mengenai bagaimana kondisi dan situasi umat Islam setempat komplit sekomplitnya.

Tablighi Jamaat (Urdu: تبلیغی جماعت, Tablīghī Jamā‘at; Arabic: جماعة التبليغ, Jamā‘at at-Tablīgh; Bengali: তাবলীগ জামাত; Hindi: तबलीग़ी जमात; English: Society for spreading faith) is a global Sunni Islamic proselytizing and revivalist movement that focuses on urging Muslims return to orthodox Sunni Islam, and particularly in matters of ritual, dress, and personal behavior. The organisation is estimated to have between twelve and 150 million adherents (the majority living in South Asia), and a presence in somewhere between 150 and 213 countries. It has been called "one of the most influential religious movements in 20th century Islam".
The movement was started in 1927 by Muhammad Ilyas al-Kandhlawi in India. Its stated primary aim is spiritual reformation of Islam by reaching out to Muslims across social and economic spectra and working at the grass roots level, to bring them in line with the group's understanding of Islam. The teachings of Tabligh Jamaat are expressed in "Six Principles" (Kalimah, Salat, Ilm, Ikraam-e-Muslim, Ikhlas-e-Niyyat, Dawat-o-Tableegh). Tablighi Jamaat believes that Muslims are in a constant state of spiritual Jihad in the sense of fight against evil, the weapon of choice is Dawah (proselytization) and that battles are won or lost in the "hearts of men."

(1) - وأما الأحاديث:
184 - فالأول: عن أبي سعيد الخدري - رضي الله عنه - قَالَ: سَمِعت رَسُول الله - ﷺ صلى الله عليه وسلم - يقول: «مَنْ رَأَى مِنْكُمْ مُنْكَرًا فَلْيُغَيِّرْهُ بِيَدِهِ، فَإنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَبِلِسَانِهِ، فَإنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَبِقَلْبِهِ، وَذَلِكَ أضْعَفُ (1) الإيمَانِ». رواه مسلم. (2)
185 - الثاني: عن ابن مسعود - رضي الله عنه: أن رَسُول الله - ﷺ صلى الله عليه وسلم - قَالَ: «مَا مِنْ نَبيٍّ بَعَثَهُ اللهُ [ص:83] في أمَّة قَبْلِي إلاَّ كَانَ لَهُ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ حَوَارِيُّونَ (1) وَأصْحَابٌ يَأخُذُونَ بِسنَّتِهِ وَيَقْتَدُونَ بِأَمْرِهِ، ثُمَّ إِنَّهَا تَخْلُفُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خُلُوفٌ (2) يَقُولُونَ مَا لاَ يَفْعَلُونَ، وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا لاَ يُؤْمَرونَ، فَمَنْ جَاهَدَهُمْ بِيَدِهِ فَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، وَمَنْ جَاهَدَهُمْ بِقَلبِهِ فَهُوَ مُؤمِنٌ، وَمَنْ جَاهَدَهُمْ بِلسَانِهِ فَهُوَ مُؤمِنٌ، وَلَيسَ وَرَاءَ ذلِكَ مِنَ الإيمَانِ حَبَّةُ خَرْدَل». رواه مسلم.

Tariq Jameel (born 1 January 1953), commonly referred to as Maulana Tariq Jameel, is a Pakistani religious and Islamic scholar, preacher, and public speaker[1][2] from Tulamba near Mian Channu in Khanewal, Punjab He is a member of Tablighi Jamaat and a Deobandi scholar who runs a Madrasa in Faisalabad, Pakistan.[3] He is listed as a popular speaker in the 2013/2014 edition of the book The Muslim 500.[1]
Tariq Jameel received his Islamic education from Jamia Arabia, Raiwind.[4] He frequently visits places to deliver Islamic speeches at rallies in which he preaches peace and harmony, tolerance and respect for everyone. He promotes ethnic and sectarian harmony.[5][4][6]
Tariq Jameel's lectures incorporate a wide range of issues of Islam and social concern. He especially emphasizes on self-rectification, self-accountability, honesty in social life, avoidance of violent ways, observance of God's commands, and the following of the teachings and the model of life as suggested by Islamic prophet Muhammad.[1][2] In May 2014, the International Human Rights Commission Chief Ambassador met Tariq Jameel along with Asad Bashir and Veena Malik at Dubai and thanked him for promoting the true picture of Islam.[7][8]

In January 2014, Pakistani actress Veena Malik said her interaction with Tariq Jameel had positively changed her life, and that she would quit the show-biz industry.[10][11] Although she did not quit the industry and said she was planning her comeback after the birth of her girl.[12] According to news reports which have not been confirmed by Imran Khan or any of his close associates, Tariq Jameel met Imran Khan in August 2014, and advised him to conduct his Azadi March in a peaceful way. Upon his request, the march's name was changed from 'Tsunami March' to 'Azadi March', although Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri's associates claim that the term ‘Azadi March’ was coined by their leader but was stolen by PTI.[13][14]
On 4 November 2014, he called on Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif at the latter's residence Jati Umra, and extended the invitation to participate in annual Tableeghi Ijtima to be held in Raiwind Markaz.[15]
