Double Fine Productions, Inc. (commonly referred to as just Double Fine) is an American video game developer founded in July 2000 by Tim Schafer after his departure from LucasArts. He started Double Fine with programmers David Dixon and Jonathan Menzies in what was once a clog shop in San Francisco. After several months of working on the demo for what would become Psychonauts, a mixture of personnel from the Grim Fandango development team and other new employees were slowly added to begin production.
Though the company's first two games Psychonauts and Brütal Legend were critically praised, both underperformed publishers' expectations. The future of the company was assured when Schafer turned to several in-house prototypes built during a two-week period known as "Amnesia Fortnight" to expand as digital, smaller titles, all of which were licensed through publishers and met with commercial success. Schafer has since repeated these Amnesia Fortnights, using fan-voting mechanics, to help select and build smaller titles. Double Fine is also credited with driving interest in crowdfunding in video games, having been able to raise more than $3 million for the development of Broken Age, at the time one of the largest projects funded by Kickstarter. The company has continued to build on their independent developer status and has promoted efforts to help other, smaller independent developers through its clout.

The series is set many years after a devastating war, which killed 80% of the Earth's population. Earth is being watched by a group of beings known as The Third from a city called Hyperius. They are named after a red jewel-like eye on their forehead (Space Eye) that serves as a port for data access and other types of communication. These beings are committed to protecting the humans from harm. One of the main ways is to protect the humans is to control the amount of "technos" or technology that the humans have access to, known as the "technos taboo". Humans found using forbidden technos could be killed by The Third's best "autoenforcer" an AI robot named Bluebreaker.

During a break, Reid showed us nine very seductive guitars, (each, strangely enough, named after a Star Wars character) and revealed a bit of gear-break-down paranoia when he described his backups for his backup pedalboard. Ried names all of his guitars after Star Wars characters from the Dark Side. His #1 is "The Emperor", a Gibson '59 Les Paul, custom made and reliced with aged wood, hardware etc. Next is "Vadar", a 1979 Gibson The Paul, which was the first good guitar Reid bought. You was fooling me once before
But I tell you there's no fooling me twice no more
'Cuz when I open up my third eye, my third eye
You cant get away wit' murder, wit' murder, yeah
You was fooling me once before
But I tell you there's no fooling me twice no more
So stop your oppression, oppression
Check it out I got a question, a question
If Bush is Pinnochio, Pinnochio
Who the hell is Gepetto, Gepetto? Beware of Gepetto
'Cuz he got knives and clips and a dagger
that's shaped into a crucifix
And he'll stab your back with it
And give it to your brother as a necklace for Christmas
Welcome to the valley of the beast
Where they sing in harmony but never speak no peace
Keepin' their eye on the fedia cheddar
things that ain't really for the better
I could point out their behavior
To keep ammuned from the poisonous flavor
But once your caught I can't save ya
They'll manipulate your mind, so you enjoy danger
He can sell sand to Iran
Ice to an Eskimo, water to a dam
And these are akin to Uncle Sam
The one that taught him how to scam
He was fooling me once before
But I tell you he ain't fooling me twice no more
'Cuz when I open up my third eye, my third eye
He cant get away wit' murder, wit' murder
Know what I'm saying?
(No no no no no no)
Can't fool me again
(No no no no no no)
I'm into games you play
I know your game
(No no no no no no)
Won't fall down again
(No no no no no no)
Won't trip on games you play
I know your game
You could fool me once
(No no)
But you can't fool me two times
(No no)
'Cuz I got three eyes
(Yeah yeah)
One look from the left side
(Yeah yeah)
The other from the right side
(Yeah yeah)
Got one eye on the inside
(Yeah yeah)
And I can see you outside
(No no)
Plottin' to come in
You can't fool me, you cant do me
You cant run through me
Sometimes we need to change, to change, to change
Leave the past behind
Leave the past behind or shall we look into the future?
