Edward "Ted" Grant (born Isaac Blank; 9 July 1913 – 20 July 2006) was a South African Trotskyist who spent most of his adult life in Britain. He was a founding member of the Militant group and later Socialist Appeal.
Grant's father had settled in South Africa after fleeing Tsarist Russia in the nineteenth century. His original family name is reported as "Blank" also in his autobiography, but The Guardian in an obituary suggested that his full birth name was kept unknown.
His parents divorced when he was young and he was brought up by his French-born mother who took in lodgers to supplement her income. He was introduced to Trotskyism by one of these lodgers, Ralph Lee, who discussed politics with Isaac and supplied him with copies of The Militant, the Trotskyist newspaper of the Communist League of America. In 1934, he helped Lee found the Bolshevik-Leninist League of South Africa, a small Trotskyist group which soon merged with other tendencies to form the Workers Party of South Africa. Later in the year, Grant, Lee and Max Basch decided to move to London where they believed there were better prospects for the movement.

Grant and his manager, however, annoyed at Rudy's persistent attempts for admittance, flee to the city. The band makes one last attempt to enter the house by breaking down the door, but they are witnessed by the neighbor, Mrs. Whitehall and her charming niece Jean, who call the police thinking they are burglars. Sport, one of the band members, tells the policeman that Rudy is the famous Ted Grant and lost his key, and Rudy goes along with the deception to avoid jail. Rudy then accepts Mrs. Whitehall's invitation to perform at her upcoming benefit for orphans, because he has fallen in love with Jean. But what will happen, he worries, when Jean finds out the truth.

"가장 위대한 오리지널스는 가장 많이 실패해 본 사람입니다. 왜냐하면, 가장 많이 시도해 본 사람이기 때문입니다. 단 몇 개의 좋은 아이디어를 얻기 위해서는 수많은 나쁜 아이디어가 필요합니다." 독창적인 사색가의 놀라운 습관들 - 아담 그랜트(Adam Grand)
This short film from Ben Weiland profiles Ted Grant operates the Nahanni Mountain Lodge, which is located in the heart of the Northwest Territories. In a day where connectedness permeates just about everything, Grant makes a strong case for escaping the pull of cell phones and Internet and getting out to see the world. The Northern Lights in this area are far from the reaches of light pollution, and as Grant says, there's no better escape from life's hectic pace than a few days in the mountains.

This domain you can't see straight away.
Far from the daylight zone.
Subterranean life inside of it.
Ghost space beneath the ground.
Find a way to get down into it.
Explore your inner self.
First you need to survive own decay.
Then you will see what's next.
This domain, you found it finally.
Hard way to cross the line.
Be aware of the dregs of memory.
All things you bottled up.
Tough to face the truth inside of here
Although there's no regret
Diving into the bog of images
Re-introduce yourself
A beam of light falls through the maze.
And shows the grimness of this place.
Is this the place of your pride?
The place where thoughts get bright?
Please cover up what's inside.
Kill the light.
Dead ground, dead ground.
Go digging the
Dead ground, dead ground.
This domain you can't see straight away.
Far from the daylight zone.
Subterranean life inside of you.
Ghost space inside your head.
I have seen the way you gonna be.
When you keep holding on.
Wandering all around in nothingness.
Nothing will be the same.
Dead ground, dead ground.
Keep digging the
Dead ground, dead ground.
You lose yourself and you're the only one who doesn't care.
You are exhausting your whole life.
You can not tell us all the reasons that you had in mind.
We'll leave you all alone.
Getting lost for ever.
Getting lost for life.
Wandering in the deepest caves.
The deepest caves of mind.
No one will forgive you.
No one understands.
The reasons of these twisted thoughts.
The twisted thoughts of mind.
Dead ground, dead ground.
Stop digging the
