Paul Victor Jules Signac (French: [pɔl siɲak]; 11 November 1863 – 15 August 1935) was a French Neo-Impressionist painter who, working with Georges Seurat, helped develop the Pointillist style.
Paul Signac was born in Paris on 11 November 1863. He followed a course of training in architecture before deciding at the age of 18 to pursue a career as a painter after attending an exhibit of Monet's work. He sailed around the coasts of Europe, painting the landscapes he encountered. He also painted a series of watercolors of French harbor cities in later years.
In 1884 he met Claude Monet and Georges Seurat. He was struck by the systematic working methods of Seurat and by his theory of colors and became Seurat's faithful supporter, friend and heir with his description of Neo-Impressionism and Divisionism method. Under his influence he abandoned the short brushstrokes of Impressionism to experiment with scientifically juxtaposed small dots of pure color, intended to combine and blend not on the canvas but in the viewer's eye, the defining feature of Pointillism. Many of Signac's paintings are of the French coast. He loved to paint the water. He left the capital each summer, to stay in the south of France in the village of Collioure or at St. Tropez, where he bought a house and invited his friends.
Signac is a commune in the Haute-Garonne department in southwestern France.
Its inhabitants are called Signacais.
Paul may refer to:
Georges-Pierre Seurat (French: [ʒɔʁʒ pjɛʁ sœʁa]; 2 December 1859 – 29 March 1891) was a French post-Impressionist painter and draftsman. He is noted for his innovative use of drawing media and for devising the painting techniques known as chromoluminarism and pointillism. Seurat's artistic personality was compounded of qualities which are usually supposed to be opposed and incompatible. On the one hand, his extreme and delicate sensibility, on the other a passion for logical abstraction and an almost mathematical precision of mind. His large-scale work, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte (1884–1886), altered the direction of modern art by initiating Neo-impressionism, and is one of the icons of late 19th-century painting.
Seurat was born 2 December 1859 in Paris, at 60 rue de Bondy (now rue René Boulanger). The Seurat family moved to 136 boulevard de Magenta (now 110 boulevard de Magenta) in 1862 or 1863. His father, Antoine Chrysostome Seurat, originally from Champagne, was a former legal official who had become wealthy from speculating in property, and his mother, Ernestine Faivre, was from Paris. Georges had a brother, Émile Augustin, and a sister, Marie-Berthe, both older. His father lived in Le Raincy and visited his wife and children once a week at boulevard de Magenta.
Paul Signac: A collection of 534 works (HD) Description: "Paul Signac was a French Neo-Impressionist painter, who along with Georges Seurat played a major role in the development of the Pointillist style. A versatile artist, he left behind several oils, watercolors, etchings, lithographs, and pen-and-ink pointillism, the most popular of which were ‘The Dining Room’, ‘Women at the Well’, ‘The Wreckers’, and ‘The Port of Rotterdam’. Born into a family of successful traders, he had a comfortable childhood during which he developed an interest in drawing and painting. He wanted to pursue art as a career but chose to study architecture instead at his family’s insistence. He continued painting during his leisure time as a college student. However, after attending an exhibition of Monet's work,...

Ains...
It's hard to believe this glamorous town was once just a humble fishing village. The appeal of Saint-Tropez was first discovered by the Impressionist painter Paul Signac. Then in 1955, the film Et Dieu Créa la Femme (And God Created Woman), starring Brigitte Bardot, forever changed this small port town into a legendary seaside resort. As I am leaving the charming Saint-Tropez of Brigitte Bardot, I wanted to share with you the picturesque pastel colored houses, the narrow cobblestone streets, the shady squares, and the beautiful ladies in flowy tunics. CREDIT: https://www.instagram.com/ilya_brezinski/ When French artists George Seurat and Paul Signac invented pointillism in 1886, they probably never expected that the style would one day be applied to tattoos. But that’s precisely what tattoo artist Ilya Brezinski is doing, and the technique’s originators are sure to approve of his work. Based in St Petersburg, Russia, the Belarussian tattoo artist and illustrator specializes in dotwork and blackwork body art. His designs often have a surreal, almost Dali-esque quality to them, and the use of dotwork creates an almost 3D shading effect that isn’t possible with other tattoo techniques. His tattoos are predominantly monochrome, and the simple use of color makes his artwork even more striking. Brezinski has amassed almost 50k followers on In...
Camille Pissarro (French, 1830--1903) Apple-Picking 1886 Oil on canvas Ohara Museum of Art, Kurashiki, Japan Pissarro began working on the monumental Apple-Picking in 1881 but did not consider the canvas finished until 1886, when he exhibited it at the final Impressionist exhibition. He spent years extensively reworking the painting's surface in the pointillist style of the Neo-Impressionists Georges Seurat and Paul Signac, who shared the older artist's artistic ambitions and political beliefs.
Eugene Delacroix National Museum occupies the place of Fürstenberg, the apartment of the great romantic painter and his studio, located in a hidden garden to the rear of the building. Located in the last apartment and the last workshop held by the painter Eugene Delacroix National Museum is both a memorial and a tribute to the artist instead. Indeed it was created at the initiative of the greatest artists of the 1920s, Maurice Denis, Henri Matisse, Paul Signac particular. Description: "Born in Ferrara, Italy on 31st December 1842, Boldini received his initial training from his father, a painter and restorer. A precocious talent, Boldini attended the Accademia di Belle Arti (Academy of Fine Arts) in Florence in 1862. There he met the circle of Tuscan realist painters, known as the Macchiaioli, developing a particularly close friendship with Telemaco Signorini and Christiano Banti. They were a considerable influence on Boldini and introduced him to painting from nature, contemporaneous with the Barbizon painters of France. During a visit to Paris for the Exposition Universelle in 1867, Boldini was greatly influenced by the paintings of Courbet, Manet and Degas, artists with whom he later established lifelong friendships. While in Paris, Boldini was captivated...

when i was young
tucked in the bed
just like a dream
you crept into my head
they're always looking for something
they're always waiting close
where have you gone
out there alone
returned the calls
we sent letters from home
they're always looking for something
they're always waiting close
but all you can do is wait till they come through
you know they will
and when its over you feel much older
you've had your fill
we weren't like that
like all of those
i remember when you showed me all your clothes
but they're always looking for something
they're always waiting close
but all you can do is wait till they come through
you know they will
and when its over you feel much older
you've had your fill
