The Face (UK TV series)

The Face was a British reality television series based on the American series of the same name. It aired on Sky Living from September to November 2013. The series saw three supermodels - Caroline Winberg, Erin O'Connor and Naomi Campbell - compete with each other to find the newest face of Max Factor.

The premiere of The Face drew poor ratings of only 132,000 viewers, a market share of 0.6% of British households watching TV at the time, and below the audience Sky Living averaged in the same time slot - 239,000 viewers (1% share) - during the year before the show aired. In July 2014, it was confirmed that due to poor ratings, the show was axed would not return for a second series.

The Face (Australian TV series)

The Face was an Australian reality television modelling competition series aired on Fox8 of Foxtel and produced by Shine Australia. Naomi Campbell was the show's executive producer and one of the three supermodel coaches of the series, as with The Face (U.S.) and The Face (U.K.). It was reported that the channel and production team acquired the right to create an adaptation for Australian TV on 31 August 2013. Filming for the series took place from 1 November to 4 December 2013. The series was broadcast from March to May 2014.

The show premiered to 40,000 national viewers, which was the 18th most watched show on subscription television that night, but only fourth most watched program on FOX8. The remaining episodes of the series rated under 50,000 national viewers, with the finale attracting only 16,000 viewers (plus 25,000 viewers on FOX8 +2)

Requirements

All applicants attempting to enter the competition were required to be female and be over the age of 18 or under the age 30 as of 1 November 2013. Applying contestants were also required to meet the minimum height requirement of 172 cm. Past experience as a model was not a requisite. Those with experience as a model could not have been in any national campaign within previous five years before applying. The deadline for all applications was 22 September 2013.

The Face (U.S. TV series)

The Face is an American reality television modeling competition series. The show is hosted by Nigel Barker, who was a previous judge on America's Next Top Model. The Face follows three supermodel coaches as they compete with each other to find 'the face' of a make-up brand. It premiered February 12, 2013, on Oxygen. The series was renewed in April 2013 for a ten-episode second season, which premiered on March 5, 2014. While Naomi Campbell reappears in two seasons, Anne Vyalitsyna and Lydia Hearst replaced Coco Rocha and Karolina Kurkova as supermodel coaches for season two.

Casting process

Aspiring contestants for the show had to pre-register themselves online, and were encouraged to attend open casting calls or send in a video and application. The deadline for all applications was August 3, 2012. The show required all contestants to be 18 years old and over at the time of auditioning in order to be eligible for the program. Contestants from any country around the world could apply, as long as they had all the required documentation in order to remain in the United States for the duration of the series.

Behind the Mask (album)

Behind the Mask is the 15th studio album by British/American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released in 1990. It was the first album released by the band after the departure of guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. He was replaced by Billy Burnette and Rick Vito, both guitar players, singers and songwriters. Fleetwood Mac thus became a six-piece band with four singer/songwriters. The album was not as successful as its predecessor, Tango in the Night, nor did it spawn any big hit singles although "Save Me" made the US Top 40, while "Love Is Dangerous" and "Skies the Limit" enjoyed some airplay. Though it barely reached the US Top 20, the album entered the UK Albums Chart at number 1 and achieved platinum status there. Following the album's release and subsequent world tour, bandmembers Stevie Nicks and Rick Vito left the band, though Nicks would rejoin in 1997.

The cover for the album was created by photographer Dave Gorton. He stated that the band did not wish to appear on the front cover of the album and Mick Fleetwood himself suggested that he create an image that "spiritually symbolised" the band instead. The album cover earned a Grammy nomination in 1991 for "Best Album Package".

Hannibal Rising

Hannibal Rising is a novel by American author Thomas Harris, published in 2006. It is a prequel to his three previous books featuring his most famous character, the cannibalistic serial killer Dr. Hannibal Lecter. It is Harris' fifth and most recent novel. The novel was released with an initial printing of at least 1.5 million copies and met with a mixed critical response. Audiobook versions have also been released, with Harris reading the text. The novel was adapted (by Harris himself) into a film of the same name in 2007, directed by Peter Webber.

Plot synopsis

Opening in Lithuania during 1941, Hannibal Lecter is eight years old and living in a lodge with his parents and sister, Mischa. With the lodge located near the eastern front of World War II, the Lecter family escapes to their castle to elude the advancing German troops. With the lodge abandoned, it is soon raided by Nazis and civilians aiding them, their hidden art collection among the stolen loot. Three years later, an advancing Soviet tank stops at the Lecter family's castle looking for water, only to be bombed by a German Stuka, the explosion killing all but the children. Surviving in the lodge, Hannibal and Mischa are captured when five deserters appear: Grutas, Milko, Grentz, Dortlich, and Kolnas. Storming and looting the lodge, they lock the Lecters in the barn. Running low on supplies, the soldiers soon take Mischa; realizing they intend to cannibalize her, Hannibal tries to stop them, only to have his arm broken before he blacks out.

Behind the Mask (Michael Jackson song)

"Behind the Mask" is a song included on American recording artist Michael Jackson's posthumous album Michael. It was adapted by Jackson from the single by Yellow Magic Orchestra for Thriller in 1982, but was not included on that album. The song was released by Epic Records on February 21, 2011 as the third single from Michael. Shanice provides background vocals on the song. In February 2011, the song was released as a single in France.

Background and release

Quincy Jones heard Yellow Magic Orchestra's version during the Thriller sessions, and brought it to Michael Jackson, who had recorded the song, added an extra melody line and a few extra lyrics to Chris Mosdell's original. Mosdell has said of the collaboration, "when Michael Jackson took it, he made it into a love song about a woman. It was a completely different premise to me, I was talking about a very impersonal, socially controlled society, a future technological era, and the mask represented that immobile, unemotional state. But hey, I let him have that one." An agreement to share the royalties equally between Sakamoto, Mosdell and Jackson broke down when the management of Yellow Magic Orchestra disagreed and it prevented the song from being released on Jackson's sixth studio album, Thriller. It remained unreleased for 28 years.
