Andy Trieu

Andy Trieu is a Martial Artist representing Australia in national and international championships. He is also known for his acting and presenting career on the Nine Network on programmes such as Kitchen Whiz as the Kitchen Ninja, Rescue: Special Ops and Crime Investigations. He has also appeared on SBS network shows Houso's, Bollywood Star and popular music show SBS PopAsia A graduate of a double degree in Business and International Relations at the Australian National University, he is also an advocate and ambassador for All Together Now Australia and the National Stroke Foundation. He also acted in the 2015 ABC comedy Maximum Choppage as Fury.

SBS PopAsia

SBS PopAsia is an Australian music show that broadcasts 24/7 Asian pop hits on digital radio, online and on mobile devices. It debuted on Australian TV in late 2011, presenting back-to-back music videos from 9am-11am on Sunday mornings on SBS2. It is hosted by Jamaica dela Cruz and Andy Trieu. It focuses on broadcasting music videos from South Korea, Japan and the Republic of China. Very rarely, SBS PopAsia has also featured music videos from South-East Asian countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Burma. PopAsia fans are called PopAsians.

History

SBS PopAsia began as a weekly two-hour segment on the SBS youth radio programme, Alchemy, as the Asian Pop Show. Due to growing popularity as evident through increasing online fan engagement SBS PopAsia was launched as a 24-hour digital radio show in 2010. In late 2011, it debuted on free-to-air Australian TV in a two-hour timeslot on Sunday mornings from 9am. In 2013, the programme was extended to three and a half hours of prime-time broadcast across Saturday and Sunday evenings on SBS2. In 2014, it reverted to its original 2 hour timeslot at 9am on Sundays.
