Nor (do we work) with the Jam’iyyāt, not in what we agree upon nor in what we differ because they do not work except for their ḥizbiyyah (partisanship) and their Jam’iyyāh. And all praise be to Allāh, Allāh has blessed the da’wah (call) of Ahlus-Sunnah, and it has become wide-spread, and it has filled every plain and mountain and has spread in Yemen - and this is by the Grace of Allāh, The Most High. And say to them: No, with no due respect, we will not work with you nor will we attend your lectures, and also we will not attend your gatherings. Rather we want to go forth seeking beneficial knowledge. Towards (the likes of) Saḥīh al-Bukhārī, Saḥīh Muslim, Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr, Riyāḍ as-Ṣāliḥīn, and other than that like Fatḥ al-Majīd, the explanation of Kitāb at-Taḥwīd. And Allāh is The One Who helps.” Then the Shaykh was asked regarding working with Jamā’at at-Tablīgh (to which he said): “Jamā’at at-Tablīgh is a jamā’ah (group) of ignorance and Sufism so we do not permit working with them. What prevents you from working with Ahlus-Sunnah? What is it that prevents you from going with Ahlus-Sunnah, and you know that you will come back knowing how to call to the prayer according to the Sunnah, and pray according to the Sunnah, and you will have memorized something from the ahādīth (narrations) of the Messenger of Allāh (صلى الله عليه وسلم), and you will have memorized something from the Qur’ān. What prevents you from working with Ahlus-Sunnah? These questions have been coming from a long time. ‘(Should) we work with the Muslim Brotherhood? (Should) we work with the people of jam’īyyah? (Should) we work with Jamā’at at-Tablīgh?’ We have never seen a question come: ‘(Should) we work with Ahlus-Sunnah?’ What (not clear) is Ahlus-Sunnah O my brothers? If you go with them you will come back with benefits! If you travel (with them) and come back, perhaps you left ignorant and you would come back and you have become a Faqīh (scholar in legislative rulings). (There’s) a person by the name of Fahmī, an Egyptian. He stayed with Jamā’at at-Tablīgh for forty years, and he was from their heads. (Once) a visitor from Najd came, and we used to honour and respect this Egyptian because what was apparent upon him was that he used to work for the benefit of Islām and he did not blind follow, so the Najdī said to the Egyptian: ‘Where is Allāh O Shaykh?’ He said: ‘Everywhere.’ He stayed with them for forty years O brothers! Then after that, it became clear that there is still ḥizbiyyah in his beliefs. As for Ahlus-Sunnah, all praise is due to Allāh, if you do something or say something, (they say): ‘What is your proof?’ Then what? ‘Is it authentic or weak? Who has authenticated it from the scholars?’ So then you will come back and all praise is due to Allāh, you will know what evidence is: A Qur’ānic verse, or an authentic Prophetic narration.
