My name is Laszlo Bartha, and this is the second part of Livestock Guardian Dogs Ethology, titled: Pack Fight. This is the yellow dog I have introduced in the previous, so called Rank Fight video. Though the others already accepted his presence, they do not consider him a member of pack. This fact and his inexperience will put him in a big trouble in a few seconds. The leader dog has just observed the not too far passing sheep flock. He knows already that the flock is accompanied by guardian dogs, even if they are not visible yet. Not too strong ones, but many. He fought them in a couple of times in the past, he is not afraid of them, but now he does not want any trouble, and decides to stay away from them. Not the newbie yellow dog. It is obvious that he has absolutely no idea about the real life in the real environment of his breed. The majority of the pack members are wearing spiked iron collars around their necks. So his instinctive neck bites while trying to defend himself are mostly not only ineffective but very painful … to him. The iron spikes stab his tongue, gums and palate. My old dogs do not go to help him, because he is not considered a pack member. They do not risk injuries for a stranger. But it has come the time to save him. In that excitement accidentally I turned off my camera, so I cannot show how my old dogs followed me to help the one in trouble, and how they chased away the other pack. At the moment I have got involved, they have got involved as well. Despite of the appearances the other pack did not do anything evil. This is their job. Livestock Guardian Dogs cannot allow any canis species, like dogs, wolves, coyotes, dingo, jackals close to their sheep. Lots of dogs bred in cities and villages tend to chase after sheep, attack, or even kill them if they meet them out there. How I said before this is not a strong pack, just a medium one. I have known them for years. A strong, big-dog pack would kill him in this amount of time, or at least would hurt the yellow dog deadly. Now he had the opportunity to learn an essential lesson of his new life. The psychologists say: the higher is the brain’s excitement the more is the received information stamped in the mind. He has to learn fast and firm, because next time he might meet a strong pack. The blood in his tongue comes from the injuries produced by spiked iron collars of the white dogs. The lesson for now was: 1. Do not go alone among an unknown pack of dogs. 2. Stay close to the pack which at least tolerates you. 3. The neck biting should work fine in a not too serious rank fight, but in pack fight you have to do something more efficient. 4. In this situation you bite first and hard. 5. The real and complete life is much more than you can imagine living in a suburb or village yard.
