Jaime Mendoza-Nava (December 31, 1925 -- May 31, 2005) was a Bolivian-American composer and conductor born in La Paz, Bolivia. He studied at The Juilliard School and Madrid Royal Conservatory, the Sorbonne, and with Nadia Boulanger. He won the Madrid Conservatory's First Prize in 1950, completing the five-year program in a year's time. Eventually, he was on the staff of Walt Disney Studios and his works were recorded by MGM Records. Much of his music is inspired by the pentatonic music of the Andes.
In Hollywood, he also had several credits as a sound editor. In the 1970s and 1980s, he provided scores for films such as Aloha, Bobby and Rose, The Boys in Company C, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Mausoleum, The Legend of...

Jaime Mendoza Nava served as composer and associate producer for 1964's "Ballad of a Gunfighter," written and directed by Bill Ward. In this final scene, we hear country singer Marty Robbins' well known narrative song, "San Angelo," as we see it enacted out in the film's tragic ending. Jaime integrated the song's melody in the film's score. The film featured Bill Ward's famous horse, Traveler. "Robbins is featured as a Robin Hood of the West who robs stage coaches and gives the loot to the poor. When he and his outlaw buddy fall for the same dame, things get real rough and rowdy."
