Eurosport is a pan-European television sport network operated by French broadcaster TF1 Group. The network of channels is available in 59 countries, in 20 different languages providing viewers with European and international sporting events. Eurosport first launched on European satellites on 5 February 1989.
Eurosport provides viewers with European and international sporting events. This includes: UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup football, the Paris Dakar Rally, Monte Carlo Rally, the Olympics, cycling events such as the Tour de France, tennis events including the French Open and the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, World Championship Snooker, ICC World Twenty20, ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy, Australian Football League, wintersports, and youth sports like skating and surfing. It has also previously covered events such as the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.
Eurosport is a partner with KSO, the organizers of the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC). Eurosport broadcasts every WTCC race live. Before 2006, both the WTCC and the FIA GT Championship were broadcast by Eurosport. But Eurosport requested SRO, the FIA GT Championship organizers, to shorten their race from 3 hours to 2 hours. SRO refused and since then it has not been on the bill with the WTCC. For 2007, the SRO shortened FIA GT Championship races to 2 hours.
Eurosport 2 is a European sports television network. It is a sister channel to Eurosport and Eurosport News. Several different versions of the channel exist across Europe, where television rights for sport differ.
Eurosport 2 launched on 10 January 2005. It is currently available in 50 million homes and 47 countries , broadcasting in 16 different languages English, Swedish, French, Italian, German, Greek, Hungarian, Russian, Bulgarian, Polish, Romanian, Serbian, Turkish, Czech, Danish and Dutch.
Eurosport 2 considers itself "the new generation sports channel", and is dedicated to team sports and in particular 'alternative' and niche sports including European basketball, National Lacrosse League, Twenty20 cricket, AFL Aussie Rules, surfing and the Handball Champions League, amongst others.
On 2 July 2010, the Arena Football League announced that Eurosport 2 would show matches that the NFL Network broadcast in the United States on a tape delay for the rest of the season, as well as coverage of ArenaBowl XXIII. The deal also includes rights for the entire 2011 season to be broadcast on the channel.
Eurosport News is a fourth channel of the European sports network Eurosport (Eurosport, Eurosport 2, Eurosport News, Eurosport HD).
A sports news channel launched on September 1, 2000. It features live scores, highlights, breaking news and commentary. The service combines video, text and graphics with the screen being divided into 4 sections. A video section that displays highlights and news bulletins, a breaking news ticker at the bottom and a scoring section that gives in-depth analysis of results and game stats.
