Paper Mill Playhouse is proud to open its 2015-2016 season with the world premiere musical The Bandstand. Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, Bonnie and Clyde), Corey Cott (Newsies, Gigi) and Tony Award winner Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone, 42nd Street) will star in The Bandstand.
The Bandstand will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, Bring It On, In the Heights). The Bandstand features a book and lyrics by Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor and music by Richard Oberacker. The Bandstand begins performances Thursday, October 8, 2015, and runs through Sunday, November 8, 2015. The official press opening night is Sunday, October 18, at 7:00pm.
Set in 1945, The Bandstand tells the story of a mismatched band of military veterans who join together to compete in a national radio contest in New York City with a prize that will guarantee instant stardom to the winners. But with complicated relationships, the demands of the competition and the challenging after-effects of war, going all the way for a win in the contest seems like a dream that may break these musicians. The original score is strongly influenced by authentic 1940s swing music and much of it is played onstage by the characters who make up the band. The show races towards a “live on air” finale that has an emotionally charged and surprise twist ending that requires every ounce of talent, stamina and raw nerve that these musicians possess.
The Bandstand will be performed at Paper Mill Playhouse eight times a week, Wednesday through Sunday. Performance schedule: Wednesday at 7:30pm, Thursday at 1:30pm and 7:30pm, Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 1:30pm and 8:00pm and Sunday at 1:30pm and 7:00pm. Tickets are on sale now and range from $29 to $102. Tickets may be purchased by calling 973.376.4343, at the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office at 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, or online at www.PaperMill.org. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express accepted. Groups of 10 or more can receive up to a 40% discount on tickets and should call 973.315.1680. FOR TICKETS VISIT www.PaperMill.org or call 973-376-4343.
It’s a story that’s been told many times, in many different ways – from the 1923 silent film starring Lon Chaney, to the classic Disney animated musical. But, after years of evolution – with new stage productions in Berlin, California, and New Jersey, Disney Theatrical Group crafted a show that is closer to the source material – the 1831 masterpiece written by French poet, playwright, and novelist Victor Hugo.

New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse is counting down to the holiday season with its new production of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul's Tony-nominated musical A Christmas Story. Inspired by the classic film of the same title — which tells the story of a young boy, his wacky family, and his desire to receive a Red Ryder BB gun as a present — the stage version captures the great onscreen moments and sets them to song. Meet the company, headed by Broadway vets Elena Shaddow and Chris Hoch, and go into the rehearsal room to see the tuneful kids and high-kicking leg lamps before they take the stage.

A war widow joins her late husband's best friend on the road with his all-veteran band. Thus begins The Bandstand, a rollicking and surprisingly emotional new musical at Paper Mill Playhouse starring Broadway favorites Laura Osnes, Corey Cott, and Beth Leavel. Pretty soon the sounds of 1940s swing music start saving their souls. At a recent open press rehearsal, the trio, joined by director/choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler, discussed the healing nature of music and the emotional power this show has on their own lives.

Get ready to see Laura Osnes and Corey Cott like you've never seen them before. In Paper Mill Playhouse's world-premiere musical The Bandstand, the pair will take on roles wildly different from those they've had on Broadway. Cott plays Donny, a World War II vet who returns home from the frontlines mentally scarred after losing his best friend, and he decides to enter a songwriting competition that could bring him fame and fortune. Osnes takes on the role Julia, the war widow of Donny's pal. She joins forces with the aspiring tunesmith to create unbeatable melodies. Watch as they tackle Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor's torchy, swingin' score at a recent press event.

THE BANDSTAND at Paper Mill Playhouse runs from October 8-November 8, 2015. For tickets visit www.PaperMill.org.
Paper Mill Playhouse is proud to open its 2015-2016 season with the world premiere musical The Bandstand. As previously announced, Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella, Bonnie and Clyde), Corey Cott (Newsies, Gigi) and Tony Award winner Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone, 42nd Street) will star in The Bandstand.
Paper Mill Playhouse's 2015-2016 Season is proudly sponsored by Investors Bank.
Paper Mill Playhouse's 2015-2016 Season is proudly sponsored by Investors Bank.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 973.376.4343, at the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office at 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, or online at www.PaperMill.org

Paper Mill Playhouse’s 2015-2016 season, features five musicals and two world premieres. The 2015-2016 season is proudly sponsored by Investors Bank. Paper Mill Playhouse will open its new season with the world-premiere musical The Bandstand, directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler. This sizzling new big-band musical is the story of a mismatched band of WWII veterans who dream of a better life. They join together to compete in a national radio contest with a prize that will guarantee instant stardom to the winners.
Just in time for Christmas, Paper Mill Playhouse will present A Christmas Story: The Musical, straight from Broadway, based on the legendary 1983 movie. Join Ralphie and friends as this classic Christmas film comes to life on the Paper Mill stage in a dazzling musical that captures holiday wonder with such deliciously wicked wit that it is sure to delight children and grown-ups alike.
In February, Paper Mill Playhouse presents the world premiere of a new musical A Bronx Tale. With music by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater and written by Chazz Palminteri, based on his acclaimed one-man show, it is a complex love story set against the backdrop of racial strife and organized crime in the 1960s. A Bronx Tale will be directed by two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro and four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
Next spring, Paper Mill Playhouse heats up the northeast with Pump Boys and Dinettes, a musical full of joy, a little bit of heartbreak and lots of hilarity. A little rest stop on Highway 57 in North Carolina is where all the action is—once the boys get that guitar and bass fiddle revved up, you won’t want to be anywhere else. Pump Boys and Dinettes is a countrified musical packed with highly entertaining toe-tappers.
Finally, Paper Mill Playhouse will close its 77th season with the stunning, trailblazing and legendary musical that set the bar for all musical theater, West Side Story. The score is a musical masterpiece by Leonard Bernstein with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The songs of West Side Story have become part of American culture. You must not miss this passionate and magnificent new production, only at Paper Mill Playhouse.
Paper Mill Playhouse will produce eight performances a week, Wednesday through Sunday. Three, four and five-show subscription packages are available now starting at just $104. Each subscription package includes a different level of special benefits (see www.papermill.org for details). Single tickets will go on sale in August starting at just $32. Student rush tickets are $20 and available the day of the performance in person or by phone and will only be distributed with current student ID. Tickets and subscriptions may be purchased by calling 973.376.4343, or at the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office at 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, or online at www.papermill.org.

Game testing, a subset of game development, is a software testing process for quality control of video games. The primary function of game testing is the discovery and documentation of software defects (aka bugs). Interactive entertainment software testing is a highly technical field requiring computing expertise, analytic competence, critical evaluation skills, and endurance. In recent years the field of game testing has come under fire for being excessively strenuous and unrewarding, both financially and emotionally.
In the early days of computer and video games, the developer was in charge of all the testing. No more than one or two testers were required due to the limited scope of the games. In some cases, the programmers could handle all the testing.[citation needed]
As games become more complex, a larger pool of QA resources, called "Quality Assessment" or "Quality Assurance" is necessary. Most publishers employ a large QA staff for testing various games from different developers. Despite the large QA infrastructure most publishers have, many developers retain a small group of testers to provide on-the-spot QA.
Now most game developers rely on their highly technical and game savvy testers to find glitches and 'bugs' in either the programming code or graphic layers. Game testers usually have a background playing a variety of different games on a multitude of platforms. They must be able to notate and reference any problems they find in detailed reports, meet deadlines with assignments and have the skill level to complete the game titles on their most difficult settings. Most of the time the position of game tester is a highly stressful and competitive position with little pay yet is highly sought after for it serves as a doorway into a rapidly growing industry.[citation needed]
A common misconception is that all game testers enjoy alpha or beta version of the game and report occasionally found bugs.[5] In contrast, game testing is highly focused on finding bugs using established and often tedious methodologies before alpha version.
Quality assurance is a critical component in game development, though the video game industry does not have a standard methodology. Instead developers and publishers have their own methods. Small developers do not have QA staff; however, large companies may employ QA teams full-time. High-profile commercial games are professionally and efficiently tested by publisher QA department.[7]
Testing starts as soon as first code is written and increases as the game progresses towards completion.[8][9] The main QA team will monitor the game from its first submission to the QA until as late as post-production.[9] Early in the game development process the testing team is small and focuses on daily feedback for new code. As the game approaches alpha stage, more team members are employed and test plan is written. Sometimes features that are not bugs are reported as bugs and sometimes programming team fails to fix issues first time around. A good bug-reporting system may help the programmers work efficiently. As the projects enters beta stage, the testing team will have clear assignments for each day. Tester feedback may determine final decisions of exclusion or inclusion of final features. Introducing previously uninvolved testers with fresh perspective may help identify new bugs.[9][11] At this point the lead tester communicates with the producer and department heads daily. If the developer has an external publisher, then coordination with publisher's QA team starts. For console games, a build for console company QA team is sent. Beta testing may involve volunteers, for example, if the game is multiplayer.
Testers receive scheduled uniquely identifiable game builds[11] from the developers.[citation needed] The game is play-tested and testers note any uncovered errors. These may range from bugs to art glitches to logic errors and level bugs. Testing requires creative gameplay to discover often subtle bugs. Some bugs are easy to document, but many require detailed description so a developer can replicate or find the bug. Testers implement concurrency control to avoid logging bugs multiple times.[citation needed] Many video game companies separate technical requirement testing from functionality testing altogether since a different testing skillset is required.
If a video game development enters crunch time before a deadline, the game-test team is required to test late-added features and content without delay. During this period staff from other departments may contribute to the testing—especially in multiplayer games.[citation needed]
