Why are foreigners dreaming of a vacation in Egypt while we Egyptians are dying for a visa to emigrate somewhere else? Despite all of the problems and the reputation of the country, they are attracted here – why?
We Egyptians forever complain about the endless, chronic problems that surround us. Some of us think that living in Egypt is like serving a prison sentence. Is there something that we cannot see about the country?
Filmed over the course of about eight days ‘Documenting Cairo’s First Impressions’ captures the spontaneous feelings and reflections of foreigners in Cairo. The interviews took place in streets, cafes, public transportation, and in the early hours of the morning after parties had finished – the point is to try and see Egypt from another angle. Asked on the spot about their feelings, the interviewees had no chance to prepare what they were going to say; the answers were deep and honest.
The most common attraction among foreigners? The people. The Egyptians. The people of the country are the most attractive thing in it. The Egyptian personality is very open, lively, interactive, proactive, and communicative. This is something you learn after your first ride on a rush-hour Metro.
Some of the interviewees were from Western countries where life is seen as direct, strict, and plain. Many foreigners are attracted to Egypt because there is always a new, unfamiliar thing to see or do. The Italian student at a restaurant in a small alley said she found focus and harmony in the chaos of the city. Maybe it’s because she was used to a controlled and organized environment; she was eager for change.
It turns out Egypt is a nice place to live. We can work towards making it better; we just need to look at it from another angle.
Jason Stoneking, the American artist who reads out some of his thoughts through the video, talks about the anarchic roads in one scene. Egypt’s overwhelming traffic is usually called a chronic problem, but Jason sees its creative chaos and praises how drivers are constantly aware of every small detail around their vehicle as they navigate the city.
Jason and his artist girlfriend Leslie came here earlier this year for an art residence program. They started a project of painting the greyish-brown satellite dishes that sprout across the capital’s rooftops. He said that one day he went up on a rooftop and realized the city needed some paintwork – he meant that Egypt needs a few colorful touches and then everything will be just good.

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum, is home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. It has 136,000 items on display, with many more hundreds of thousands in its basement storerooms
Khan el-Khalili is an ancient shopping area, nothing less, but some of the shops have also their own little factories or workshops.
The suq (which is the Arabic name for bazaar, or market) dates back to 1382, when Emir Djaharks el-Khalili built a big caravanserai (or khan) right here. A caravanserai was a sort of hotel for traders, and usually the focal point for economic activity for any surrounding area. This caravanserai is still there, you just ask for the narrow street of Sikka Khan el-Khalili and Badestan.
The part of Cairo that contains Coptic Cairo and Fostat, which contains the Coptic Museum, Babylon Fortress, Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George, many other Coptic churches, the Ben Ezra Synagogue and Amr ibn al-'As Mosque.
The Cairo Tower is a free-standing concrete TV tower in Cairo. It stands in the Zamalek district on Gezira Island in the Nile River, in the city centre. At 187 meters, it is 43 meters higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza, which stands some 15 km to the southwest.
Over the ages, and as far back as four thousand years, Egypt stood as the land where civilizations have always met.[citation needed] The Pharaohs together with the Greeks and the Romans have left their imprints here. Muslims from the Arabian Peninsula, led by Amr ibn al-A'as, introduced Islam into Egypt. Khedive Mohammad Ali, with his Albanian family roots, put Egypt on the road to modernity. If anything, the cultural mix in this country is natural, given its heritage. Egypt can be likened to an open museum with monuments of the different historical periods on display everywhere.

Mysterious Structure and Possible Underground Base Found in Desert of (Cairo) Egypt on Google Earth.
In this part of the desert in Egypt, about 50 km from the city of Cairo in Egypt, Matteo Ianneo has observed through his studies, this geometric structure that has attracted his attention. It is obviously not an old structure, because in 2009 it was not visible on Google Earth.
It could possibly be a secret (underground) military base. According to Matteo his analysis, he believes that the structure is hidden under the surface, in the sand, perhaps even the strong winds were able to discover a structure that did not want to be viewed from above, especially from satellites, which is unlikely because of the public roads leading to it.
There are entrances of access, 4 inputs on the second structure and a large entrance hall on the first. The shape of the structure is very particular, it may also be a missile base, or a base of nuclear origin.

Travel video about destination Cairo in Egypt.
Cairo is a world metropolis and tantamount to being an open-air museum. The Nile divides it in two and the centre of the city contains modern shops and office buildings in close proximity to medieval churches and ancient mosques.
The Khan el-Khalili bazaar is like something from a bygone age and where the Orient combines with the Middle Ages, 'A Thousand And One Nights' amid Islamic Cairo. Goods inspired by pharaohs Tutankhamen and Nefertiti are in constant demand and it's where haggling is the norm. The bazaar is a colorful place with smoking hookahs, exotic carpets and musical instruments as well as a huge array of herbs and spices.
Abu Serga is the city's oldest church and dates back to Fatima times. It was built on the ruins of an even older church in the Coptic district of Cairo. The three-aisled basilica was founded by Roman Christians at the end of the 4th century.
Built in 1902, the Egyptian Museum's 150,000 exhibits amount to being one of the greatest historical collections in the world. When both the Greek and Roman civilizations had reached the zenith of their power, Egypt already had a history that dated back almost 3,000 years.
In 1830, King Mohammed Ali had a mosque built and named it after himself but it is now more commonly known as the Alabaster Mosque. It was 18 years in construction and was built on the site of a former Mamluk Palace.
Egypt and its capital of Cairo is the oldest cultural land on Earth. A country that impresses with both its 5,000 years of history and lively modern spirit.

Khan el-Khalili (خان الخليلي) is a major "souk" in the Islamic district of Cairo. The bazaar district is one of Cairo's main attractions for tourists and Egyptians alike.
There are several mosques at the main entrance and places to eat.

With an additional ten million inhabitants just outside the city, Cairo resides at the center of the largest metropolitan area in Africa and the eleventh-largest urban area in the world.[1] Cairo, like many large cities in developing countries, suffers from high levels of pollution and traffic, but its metro currently the only on the African continent also ranks among the fifteen busiest in the world,[3] with over 700 million passenger rides annually. The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum, is home to the most extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world. It has 136,000 items on display, with many more hundreds of thousands in its basement storerooms Khan el-Khalili is an ancient shopping area, nothing less, but some of the shops have also their own little factories or workshops. The suq (which is the Arabic name for bazaar, or market) dates back to 1382, when Emir Djaharks el-Khalili built a big caravanserai (or khan) right here. A caravanserai was a sort of hotel for traders, and usually the focal point for economic activity for any surrounding area. This caravanserai is still there, you just ask for the narrow street of Sikka Khan el-Khalili and Badestan. The part of Cairo that contains Coptic Cairo and Fostat, which contains the Coptic Museum, Babylon Fortress, Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George, many other Coptic churches, the Ben Ezra Synagogue and Amr ibn al-'As Mosque. The Cairo Tower is a free-standing concrete TV tower in Cairo. It stands in the Zamalek district on Gezira Island in the Nile River, in the city centre. At 187 meters, it is 43 meters higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza, which stands some 15 km to the southwest. Over the ages, and as far back as four thousand years, Egypt stood as the land where civilizations have always met.[citation needed] The Pharaohs together with the Greeks and the Romans have left their imprints here. Muslims from the Arabian Peninsula, led by Amr ibn al-A'as, introduced Islam into Egypt. Khedive Mohammad Ali, with his Albanian family roots, put Egypt on the road to modernity. If anything, the cultural mix in this country is natural, given its heritage. Egypt can be likened to an open museum with monuments of the different historical periods on display everywhere. Mysterious Structure and Possible Underground Base Found in Desert of (Cairo) Egypt on Google Earth. In this part of the desert in Egypt, about 50 km from the city of Cairo in Egypt, Matteo Ianneo has observed through his studies, this geometric structure that has attracted his attention. It is obviously not an old structure, because in 2009 it was not visible on Google Earth. It could possibly be a secret (underground) military base. According to Matteo his analysis, he believes that the structure is hidden under the surface, in the sand, perhaps even the strong winds were able to discover a structure that did not want to be viewed from above, especially from satellites, which is unlikely because of the public roads leading to it. There are entrances of access, 4 inputs on the second structure and a large entrance hall on the first. The shape of the structure is very particular, it may also be a missile base, or a base of nuclear origin. The Khan el-Khalili bazaar is like something from a bygone age and where the Orient combines with the Middle Ages, 'A Thousand And One Nights' amid Islamic Cairo. Goods inspired by pharaohs Tutankhamen and Nefertiti are in constant demand and it's where haggling is the norm. The bazaar is a colorful place with smoking hookahs, exotic carpets and musical instruments as well as a huge array of herbs and spices. Abu Serga is the city's oldest church and dates back to Fatima times. It was built on the ruins of an even older church in the Coptic district of Cairo. The three-aisled basilica was founded by Roman Christians at the end of the 4th century. Built in 1902, the Egyptian Museum's 150,000 exhibits amount to being one of the greatest historical collections in the world. When both the Greek and Roman civilizations had reached the zenith of their power, Egypt already had a history that dated back almost 3,000 years. In 1830, King Mohammed Ali had a mosque built and named it after himself but it is now more commonly known as the Alabaster Mosque. It was 18 years in construction and was built on the site of a former Mamluk Palace. Egypt and its capital of Cairo is the oldest cultural land on Earth. A country that impresses with both its 5,000 years of history and lively modern spirit. -

I had a nice walk in Cairo (Egypt), in July 2014, wearing western clothes and without hijab. Nothing happened, I've met on the street many men and nobody bothered me. Except the taxi drivers, but they just asked me if I need a taxi, that's all. Of course, you don't have to wear short skirts or very sexy dresses if you are on the street, but this rule counts everywhere in the world not just in Egypt. Remember my friend that if you go there, you are a guest and they host you in their "home", so be polite, they respect your culture, you don't need to wear the hijab if you are a woman, but please, just do a small "sacrifice" and cover your legs and your shoulders, it's not a big sofference doing it, but it helps you to avoid some bad situations. Please be polite and respect egyptian culture. I'm very sad when I watch videos who give people the wrong idea about egyptian society, expecially egyptian men. It hurts not only men, but also egyptian women, because the local tourism and, consecuentely, the economy of this wonderful country, are influenced by what worldwide pupulation thinks about them. Hope you are not that naive or superficial to believe to someone who just wants to make psychological terrorism and make everybody afraid. Thank you to watch this video, hope you like it. Why are foreigners dreaming of a vacation in Egypt while we Egyptians are dying for a visa to emigrate somewhere else? Despite all of the problems and the reputation of the country, they are attracted here – why?
We Egyptians forever complain about the endless, chronic problems that surround us. Some of us think that living in Egypt is like serving a prison sentence. Is there something that we cannot see about the country?
Filmed over the course of about eight days ‘Documenting Cairo’s First Impressions’ captures the spontaneous feelings and reflections of foreigners in Cairo. The interviews took place in streets, cafes, public transportation, and in the early hours of the morning after parties had finished – the point is to try and see Egypt from another angle. Asked on the spot about their feelings, the interviewees had no chance to prepare what they were going to say; the answers were deep and honest.
The most common attraction among foreigners? The people. The Egyptians. The people of the country are the most attractive thing in it. The Egyptian personality is very open, lively, interactive, proactive, and communicative. This is something you learn after your first ride on a rush-hour Metro.
Some of the interviewees were from Western countries where life is seen as direct, strict, and plain. Many foreigners are attracted to Egypt because there is always a new, unfamiliar thing to see or do. The Italian student at a restaurant in a small alley said she found focus and harmony in the chaos of the city. Maybe it’s because she was used to a controlled and organized environment; she was eager for change.
It turns out Egypt is a nice place to live. We can work towards making it better; we just need to look at it from another angle.
Jason Stoneking, the American artist who reads out some of his thoughts through the video, talks about the anarchic roads in one scene. Egypt’s overwhelming traffic is usually called a chronic problem, but Jason sees its creative chaos and praises how drivers are constantly aware of every small detail around their vehicle as they navigate the city.
Jason and his artist girlfriend Leslie came here earlier this year for an art residence program. They started a project of painting the greyish-brown satellite dishes that sprout across the capital’s rooftops. He said that one day he went up on a rooftop and realized the city needed some paintwork – he meant that Egypt needs a few colorful touches and then everything will be just good.

Khan el-Khalili is an ancient shopping area, nothing less, but some of the shops have also their own little factories or workshops.
The suq (which is the Arabic name for bazaar, or market) dates back to 1382, when Emir Djaharks el-Khalili built a big caravanserai (or khan) right here. A caravanserai was a sort of hotel for traders, and usually the focal point for economic activity for any surrounding area. This caravanserai is still there, you just ask for the narrow street of Sikka Khan el-Khalili and Badestan.
The part of Cairo that contains Coptic Cairo and Fostat, which contains the Coptic Museum, Babylon Fortress, Hanging Church, the Greek Church of St. George, many other Coptic churches, the Ben Ezra Synagogue and Amr ibn al-'As Mosque.
The Cairo Tower is a free-standing concrete TV tower in Cairo. It stands in the Zamalek district on Gezira Island in the Nile River, in the city centre. At 187 meters, it is 43 meters higher than the Great Pyramid of Giza, which stands some 15 km to the southwest.
Over the ages, and as far back as four thousand years, Egypt stood as the land where civilizations have always met.[citation needed] The Pharaohs together with the Greeks and the Romans have left their imprints here. Muslims from the Arabian Peninsula, led by Amr ibn al-A'as, introduced Islam into Egypt. Khedive Mohammad Ali, with his Albanian family roots, put Egypt on the road to modernity. If anything, the cultural mix in this country is natural, given its heritage. Egypt can be likened to an open museum with monuments of the different historical periods on display everywhere.

In this part of the desert in Egypt, about 50 km from the city of Cairo in Egypt, Matteo Ianneo has observed through his studies, this geometric structure that has attracted his attention. It is obviously not an old structure, because in 2009 it was not visible on Google Earth.
It could possibly be a secret (underground) military base. According to Matteo his analysis, he believes that the structure is hidden under the surface, in the sand, perhaps even the strong winds were able to discover a structure that did not want to be viewed from above, especially from satellites, which is unlikely because of the public roads leading to it.
There are entrances of access, 4 inputs on the second structure and a large entrance hall on the first. The shape of the structure is very particular, it may also be a missile base, or a base of nuclear origin.

The Khan el-Khalili bazaar is like something from a bygone age and where the Orient combines with the Middle Ages, 'A Thousand And One Nights' amid Islamic Cairo. Goods inspired by pharaohs Tutankhamen and Nefertiti are in constant demand and it's where haggling is the norm. The bazaar is a colorful place with smoking hookahs, exotic carpets and musical instruments as well as a huge array of herbs and spices.
Abu Serga is the city's oldest church and dates back to Fatima times. It was built on the ruins of an even older church in the Coptic district of Cairo. The three-aisled basilica was founded by Roman Christians at the end of the 4th century.
Built in 1902, the Egyptian Museum's 150,000 exhibits amount to being one of the greatest historical collections in the world. When both the Greek and Roman civilizations had reached the zenith of their power, Egypt already had a history that dated back almost 3,000 years.
In 1830, King Mohammed Ali had a mosque built and named it after himself but it is now more commonly known as the Alabaster Mosque. It was 18 years in construction and was built on the site of a former Mamluk Palace.
Egypt and its capital of Cairo is the oldest cultural land on Earth. A country that impresses with both its 5,000 years of history and lively modern spirit.

I'm italian 100% with italian ancestors, so my opinion is totally neutral.
I had a nice walk in Cairo (Egypt), in July 2014, wearing western clothes and without hijab. Nothing happened, I've met on the street many men and nobody bothered me. Except the taxi drivers, but they just asked me if I need a taxi, that's all.
Of course, you don't have to wear short skirts or very sexy dresses if you are on the street, but this rule counts everywhere in the world not just in Egypt.
Remember my friend that if you go there, you are a guest and they host you in their "home", so be polite, they respect your culture, you don't need to wear the hijab if you are a woman, but please, just do a small "sacrifice" and cover your legs and your shoulders, it's not a big sofference doing it, but it helps you to avoid some bad situations.
Please be polite and respect egyptian culture.
I'm very sad when I watch videos who give people the wrong idea about egyptian society, expecially egyptian men. It hurts not only men, but also egyptian women, because the local tourism and, consecuentely, the economy of this wonderful country, are influenced by what worldwide pupulation thinks about them. Hope you are not that naive or superficial to believe to someone who just wants to make psychological terrorism and make everybody afraid. Thank you to watch this video, hope you like it.

In this part of the desert in Egypt, about 50 km from the city of Cairo in Egypt, Matteo Ianneo has observed through his studies, this geometric structure that has attracted his attention. It is obviously not an old structure, because in 2009 it was not visible on Google Earth.
It could possibly be a secret (underground) military base. According to Matteo his analysis, he believes that the structure is hidden under the surface, in the sand, perhaps even the strong winds were able to discover a structure that did not want to be viewed from above, especially from satellites, which is unlikely because of the public roads leading to it.
There are entrances of access, 4 inputs on the second structure and a large entrance hall on the first. The shape of the structure is very particular, it may also be a missile base, or a base of nuclear origin.

Cairo History
Cairo has been ruled by Persians, Pharaohs, Romans, Arabian caliphs, British colonials and more, and nurtured the establishment of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic religions. Not surprisingly, for today's visitor, the beauty is seeing those centuries unfold in layers, often juxtaposed into modern-day living.
The original ancient city was actually Memphis, now 24km (15 miles) southwest of Cairo, founded in 2,000 BC and ruled by King Menes who united Upper and Lower Egypt. Fustat, as 'modern-day' Cairo was known, was founded some 3,000 years later and was one of the world's greatest, and largest cities and home to Egypt's first mosque.
There embarked a period of huge construction of some of the city's most prominent landmarks. The Fatimids established the Al-Azhar mosque (one of the world's oldest Islamic universities) located in Islamic Cairo, the medieval quarter also home to the sprawling market streets of Khan el-Khalili.
Once the Mamaluk Sultanate was captured by the Ottoman Empire, they shifted most of the trading back to Constantinople and Cairo became little more than a provincial town. The mkedieval curse, the Black Death, struck the city countless times reducing the population by hundreds of thousands. Cairo's place on the spice route was all but diminished.
The Ottomans were soon unseated by Napoleonic troops who occupied Cairo in the late 18th century, later falling to British troops.
Muhammad Ali Pasha was considered to be the founder of modern Egypt, with social and economic reforms and huge construction in the early 19th century. His grandson Ismail Pasha continued that modernization process, inspired by the broad boulevards of Paris, and his legacy can still be seen around today's Downtown Cairo.
Debt let to British occupation lasting well into the 20th century, but huge demonstrations led to Egypt's independence declared in 1922 and Sultan Ahmad Fuad became King Fuad I. His son King Farouk I later married Queen Farida Zulficar.
Since World War II, Cairo's development has been intense, its huge and fast-growing population leading to its current status as the largest city in Africa and the Muslim world.

The mkedieval curse, the Black Death, struck the city countless times reducing the population by hundreds of thousands. Cairo's place on the spice route was all but diminished.
The Ottomans were soon unseated by Napoleonic troops who occupied Cairo in the late 18th century, later falling to British troops.
Muhammad Ali Pasha was considered to be the founder of modern Egypt, with social and economic reforms and huge construction in the early 19th century. His grandson Ismail Pasha continued that modernization process, inspired by the broad boulevards of Paris, and his legacy can still be seen around today's Downtown Cairo.
Debt let to British occupation lasting well into the 20th century, but huge demonstrations led to Egypt's independence declared in 1922 and Sultan Ahmad Fuad became King Fuad I. His son King Farouk I later married Queen Farida Zulficar.
Since World War II, Cairo's development has been intense, its huge and fast-growing population leading to its current status as the largest city in Africa and the Muslim world.

The museum's unique collection of jewelery contains rings once worn by high priests and also amulets that belonged to Ramses the Second.
The fantastic grave offerings of Tutankhamen, who died at the age of 19, cover almost half a floor of the museum and its importance is due to precious objects such as the 'Gold Mask' of the young pharaoh that have assured its place among the world's greatest museums.

Cairo has been ruled by Persians, Pharaohs, Romans, Arabian caliphs, British colonials and more, and nurtured the establishment of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic religions. Not surprisingly, for today's visitor, the beauty is seeing those centuries unfold in layers, often juxtaposed into modern-day living.
The original ancient city was actually Memphis, now 24km (15 miles) southwest of Cairo, founded in 2,000 BC and ruled by King Menes who united Upper and Lower Egypt. Fustat, as 'modern-day' Cairo was known, was founded some 3,000 years later and was one of the world's greatest, and largest cities and home to Egypt's first mosque.
There embarked a period of huge construction of some of the city's most prominent landmarks. The Fatimids established the Al-Azhar mosque (one of the world's oldest Islamic universities) located in Islamic Cairo, the medieval quarter also home to the sprawling market streets of Khan el-Khalili.
Once the Mamaluk Sultanate was captured by the Ottoman Empire, they shifted most of the trading back to Constantinople and Cairo became little more than a provincial town. The mkedieval curse, the Black Death, struck the city countless times reducing the population by hundreds of thousands. Cairo's place on the spice route was all but diminished.
The Ottomans were soon unseated by Napoleonic troops who occupied Cairo in the late 18th century, later falling to British troops.
Muhammad Ali Pasha was considered to be the founder of modern Egypt, with social and economic reforms and huge construction in the early 19th century. His grandson Ismail Pasha continued that modernization process, inspired by the broad boulevards of Paris, and his legacy can still be seen around today's Downtown Cairo.
Debt let to British occupation lasting well into the 20th century, but huge demonstrations led to Egypt's independence declared in 1922 and Sultan Ahmad Fuad became King Fuad I. His son King Farouk I later married Queen Farida Zulficar.
Since World War II, Cairo's development has been intense, its huge and fast-growing population leading to its current status as the largest city in Africa and the Muslim world.

Spring (Mar-Apr) and autumn (mid Sep-Oct) are most comfortable, when daytime temperatures reach 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). Sultry summer (Jun-Aug) reach the high 30s. For those who hate the heat, winter (Dec-Jan) December and January are pleasantly cool (20 deg C / 68 deg F). Ramadan shifts ten days back annually -- in 2011 will begin in early August. During the month, many eateries will close during daylight hours, and some bars close for the entire month, but the city is festooned in decorative lights with traditional music at nights in Islamic Cairo. During the major festivals of Eid ul fitr and Eid ul Adha, many locals travel so flights, trains and buses could well be booked up in advance.

My travel buddy and I first ventured to Sharm El Sheikh for some relaxation so I didn't really vlog there, however I did vlog my adventures in Cairo! [[USEFUL INFORMATION]]
-In Cairo, if you want to have an enjoyable experience touring all of the great sites, I recommend hiring a private tour guide or egyptologist. My friend suggested Rasha El Ashmawy who is an Egyptologist & private tour guide. Her website is www.egyptdailytours.com and her prices are very reasonable! In an air conditioned car from 8am-5pmish she only charged us $90 per person and this includes entrance fees to every place she took us. We went to the Great Pyramids of Giza, The Sphinx, The Egyptian Museum (Unfortunately no photos or videos allowed), Cairo Citadel, Mosque of Muhammad Ali and Khan al Khalili Bazaar. Great price if you ask me! And we were chauffeured in a private van with A/C! Rasha was absolutely fabulous, very knowledgable and very sweet. I definitely recommend her! You will not be disappointed! She also offers airport transfer!
-Egyptian tourism is WAY down, down 90% since the Egyptian Revolution. Try to be generous when you can but sometimes it can get rather annoying. For example, at the Pyramids, buyers will try everything they can to get you to buy a souvenir. It's a bit annoying but with tourism so down, this is their way of living and they CAN get a bit aggressive. Best thing to do is just to ignore and keep walking. Don't even say "No Thank You". Just simply ignore.
-Don't take pictures of military personnel, I accidentally got in trouble because an officer thought I was taking a video of his police car when in reality I was taking video of the building behind it. But wharves understandable.
-Don't ride a camel in front of the pyramids. You will get ripped of tremendously. Instead, take a $5 camel ride further away from the pyramids on the plateau. You still get great views of the pyramids!
-Buy souvenirs at Khan el Khalili but ALWAYS bargain and try to bring the price down. Most speak several languages so try your best to bring down the price!
-If you want to go inside Mosque of Muhammad Ali you can, however if you're not dressed appropriately you will be given an abaya for a small fee of about $1.
-Stay hydrated! It is HOT! Luckily there are beverage vendors everywhere so keep cash in hand.
-Cairo is NOISY! I've never heard so much noise in my life. Be prepared for the honking and the crazy driving! We stayed at the Conrad Cairo (Beautiful hotel that I definitely recommend!) and although we were at the 19th floor with a Nile view, we could STILL hear the honking so bring earplugs if you're easily annoyed!
-Egyptian food is AMAZING! Be sure to check out Abou Tarek for some authentic egyptian Koshary OR head on over to my favorite restaurant located in Zamalek, Abou El Sid. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS and craving it at this second!

Marhaba everyone! I'm back with more travel videos from my Middle Eastern adventures this summer! So excited to share with you all this travel vlog from Egypt! My travel buddy and I first ventured to Sharm El Sheikh for some relaxation so I didn't really vlog there, however I did vlog my adventures in Cairo! [[USEFUL INFORMATION]]
-In Cairo, if you want to have an enjoyable experience touring all of the great sites, I recommend hiring a private tour guide or egyptologist. My friend suggested Rasha El Ashmawy who is an Egyptologist & private tour guide. Her website is www.egyptdailytours.com and her prices are very reasonable! In an air conditioned car from 8am-5pmish she only charged us $90 per person and this includes entrance fees to every place she took us. We went to the Great Pyramids of Giza, The Sphinx, The Egyptian Museum (Unfortunately no photos or videos allowed), Cairo Citadel, Mosque of Muhammad Ali and Khan al Khalili Bazaar. Great price if you ask me! And we were chauffeured in a private van with A/C! Rasha was absolutely fabulous, very knowledgable and very sweet. I definitely recommend her! You will not be disappointed! She also offers airport transfer!
-Egyptian tourism is WAY down, down 90% since the Egyptian Revolution. Try to be generous when you can but sometimes it can get rather annoying. For example, at the Pyramids, buyers will try everything they can to get you to buy a souvenir. It's a bit annoying but with tourism so down, this is their way of living and they CAN get a bit aggressive. Best thing to do is just to ignore and keep walking. Don't even say "No Thank You". Just simply ignore.
-Don't take pictures of military personnel, I accidentally got in trouble because an officer thought I was taking a video of his police car when in reality I was taking video of the building behind it. But wharves understandable.
-Don't ride a camel in front of the pyramids. You will get ripped of tremendously. Instead, take a $5 camel ride further away from the pyramids on the plateau. You still get great views of the pyramids!
-Buy souvenirs at Khan el Khalili but ALWAYS bargain and try to bring the price down. Most speak several languages so try your best to bring down the price!
-If you want to go inside Mosque of Muhammad Ali you can, however if you're not dressed appropriately you will be given an abaya for a small fee of about $1.
-Stay hydrated! It is HOT! Luckily there are beverage vendors everywhere so keep cash in hand.
-Cairo is NOISY! I've never heard so much noise in my life. Be prepared for the honking and the crazy driving! We stayed at the Conrad Cairo (Beautiful hotel that I definitely recommend!) and although we were at the 19th floor with a Nile view, we could STILL hear the honking so bring earplugs if you're easily annoyed!
-Egyptian food is AMAZING! Be sure to check out Abou Tarek for some authentic egyptian Koshary OR head on over to my favorite restaurant located in Zamalek, Abou El Sid. The food was absolutely DELICIOUS and craving it at this second!
