Sunset Boulevard is a 1950 American black comedy/drama film noir directed and co-written by Billy Wilder, and produced and co-written by Charles Brackett. It was named after the boulevard that runs through Los Angeles and Beverly Hills, California.
The film stars William Holden as Joe Gillis, an unsuccessful screenwriter, and Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond, a faded silent movie star who draws him into her fantasy world where she dreams of making a triumphant return to the screen, with Erich von Stroheim as Max Von Mayerling, her devoted servant. Nancy Olson, Fred Clark, Lloyd Gough and Jack Webb play supporting roles. Director Cecil B. DeMille and gossip columnist Hedda Hopper play themselves, and the film includes cameo appearances by leading silent film actors Buster Keaton, H. B. Warner and Anna Q. Nilsson.

Michael Gillis
Michael Jerome Gillis (1949 – April 7, 2007) was an American academic and writer.
Life and career
Born in Walpole, Massachusetts, Gillis served as a history instructor at Butte College (1981–1985) and, for twenty-five years, as a lecturer at California State University, Chico. Professor Gillis was greatly admired by many of his students for his interesting lectures and warm personality.
His articles and reviews have appeared in the History/Social Science Journal, Diggins (Butte County Historical Society), the Dogtown Territorian Quarterly, now known as The California Territorial Quarterly, John Muir Newsletter, Overland Journal, Canadian Social Studies, California History, the American Indian Quarterly, Journal of the West, Pacific Northwest Quarterly, and Nevada Historical Society Quarterly.
During the course of his career, Gillis published three books (see bibliography). As part of his research for the Bidwell book, Gillis undertook an exploratory backpacking trip during which he and his wife located and retraced the probable route taken by the Bartleson-Bidwell Party during its famous trek across the Sierra Nevada in 1841. Gillis later published an account of the trip, along with his findings, in an article that appeared in the Winter 1998–99 issue of the Overland Journal.

Sunset Boulevard
Sunset Boulevard is a boulevard in the central and western part of Los Angeles County, California that stretches from Figueroa Street in Downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Coast Highway at the Pacific Ocean.
Geography
Approximately 22 miles (35 km) in length, the boulevard roughly traces the arc of mountains that form part of the northern boundary of the Los Angeles Basin, following the path of a 1780s cattle trail from the Pueblo de Los Angeles to the ocean.
From Downtown Los Angeles, it heads northwest, to Hollywood, through which it travels due west for several miles before it bends southwest towards the ocean. It passes through or near Echo Park, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Holmby Hills. In Bel-Air, Sunset Boulevard runs along the northern boundary of UCLA's Westwood campus. The boulevard continues through Brentwood to Pacific Palisades where it terminates at the Pacific Coast Highway intersection.
The boulevard has curvaceous winding stretches, and can be treacherous for unaware drivers in some sections. It is at least four lanes wide along its entire route. Sunset is frequently congested with traffic loads beyond its design capacity.

For this project, ten performers improvised contemporary dance movements at the center of a ring on which 24 cameras were mounted. Their brief dances were carried out in pitch darkness, light being aimed at the subjects as to reveal their shapes and movements, thus capturing their passage in a defined space. LightSpin is an experimental photography and art project that finds its source in a unique lightpainting technique. For this project, ten performers improvised contemporary dance movements at the center of a ring on which 24 cameras were mounted. Their brief dances were carried out in pitch darkness, light being aimed at the subjects as to reveal their shapes and movements, thus capturing their passage in a defined space. Pushing the exploration even further, the final result of this project becomes a fully animated, 360-degree representation of movements! Viewed and shared on the Web, the LightSpin project is launched as a world premiere in honor of the International Dance Day.

For this project, ten performers improvised contemporary dance movements at the center of a ring on which 24 cameras were mounted. Their brief dances were carried out in pitch darkness, light being aimed at the subjects as to reveal their shapes and movements, thus capturing their passage in a defined space. Pushing the exploration even further, the final result of this project becomes a fully animated, 360-degree representation of movement...

LightSpin is an experimental photography and art project that finds its source in a unique lightpainting technique. For this project, ten performers improvised contemporary dance movements at the center of a ring on which 24 cameras were mounted. Their brief dances were carried out in pitch darkness, light being aimed at the subjects as to reveal their shapes and movements, thus capturing their passage in a defined space. Pushing the exploration even further, the final result of this project becomes a fully animated, 360-degree representation of movements! Viewed and shared on the Web, the LightSpin project is launched as a world premiere in honor of the International Dance Day.

That's why we decided to keep the tradition alive by presenting what we think Universal Studios' 2015 Bill and Ted show probably would have been. Because Los Angeles deserves an extremely unfunny, genuinely upsetting comedy show featuring empty pop culture references and two characters from a movie that has not held up well. No one is safe.
