I posted this video so everybody that thinks collecting autographs is easy and fun can experience what happens very often: Total harassment and belittling that some "celebrities" put their fans through. As you can see in the video, Kim "Rock God" Thayil is making a fan show ID before judging her good enough to deserve his holy scribble. I know what you're thinking, who cares about Kim Thayil and his autograph can be worth this crap?!?! Answer: Nobody does (some people occasionally care if they're trying to complete a band item), and no (his autograph is not worth a crushed beer can). All and all, thank you Kim for the wonderful experience! At least the real star of Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, came over and signed for EVERYBODY.

Kim Thayil (born September 4, 1960) is an American guitarist best known as the lead guitarist of the Seattle-based grunge band Soundgarden, which he cofounded with singer Chris Cornell and bassist Hiro Yamamoto in 1984. Thayil was named 100th greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone Magazine.
Although he was born in Seattle in 1960, Thayil grew up in the Chicago suburb of Park Forest. Thayil's parents are from the state of Kerala in India.
Thayil met Hiro Yamamoto at Rich East High School in Park Forest. After graduation, they moved to Washington, where Thayil studied philosophy at the University of Washington. There they met Chris Cornell, a roommate, and the three formed Soundgarden in 1984.
Soundgarden became the first of Seattle's grunge bands to sign with a major label (A&M Records). They went on to release five albums, including three which went platinum at least once, and won two Grammys.
Thayil became acclaimed for his guitar work, which was typically characterized by heavy riffing, and was cited among other grunge guitarists as an influence and a pioneer of the "Seattle Sound." In 1994, Thayil commented, "I think Soundgarden is a pretty good band and I'm a fine guitarist. I'm not God, but I'm certainly not average. I feel very comfortable with the fact that not many other people can do what I do on guitar. I think my guitar is happy with the way I play it."

Chris Cornell (born Christopher John Boyle; July 20, 1964) is an American rock musician best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Soundgarden and as the former lead vocalist for Audioslave. He is also known for his numerous solo works and soundtrack contributions since 1991. He is known for his wide vocal range, spanning B1-G5 in full-voice, and up to E6 in falsetto, as well as his powerful vocal belting technique. He was the founder and frontman for Temple of the Dog, the one-off tribute band dedicated to his former roommate, Andrew Wood. He has released three solo studio albums, Euphoria Morning (1999), Carry On (2007), and Scream (2009). Cornell was ranked 4th in the list of "Heavy Metal's All-Time Top 100 Vocalists" by Hit Parader. He performed the theme song to the James Bond film Casino Royale (2006), "You Know My Name." Chris Cornell also released his first live solo album entitled "Songbook" in November, 2011.
Cornell was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and attended Christ the King, Catholic elementary school and Shorewood High School. His parents are Ed Boyle (a pharmacist from an Irish Catholic background) and Karen Cornell (an accountant from a Jewish background). He has five siblings: older brothers Peter and Patrick, and younger sisters Katy, Suzy, and Maggie. Peter, Katy and Suzy all performed in the band Inflatable Soule in the 1990s. Peter is currently the frontman for the New York-based rock band Black Market Radio. Katy performs as lead vocalist for the Seattle band Happy Hour Hero.

John R. "Johnny" Cash (February 26, 1932 – September 12, 2003), was an American singer-songwriter, actor, and author, who has been called one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Although he is primarily remembered as a country music icon, his songs and sound spanned many other genres including rockabilly and rock and roll—especially early in his career—as well as blues, folk, and gospel. This crossover appeal led to Cash being inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
Cash was known for his deep, distinctive bass-baritone voice; for the "boom-chicka-boom" sound of his Tennessee Three backing band; for his rebelliousness, coupled with an increasingly somber and humble demeanor; for providing free concerts inside prison walls; and for his dark performance clothing, which earned him the nickname "The Man in Black". He traditionally started his concerts by saying, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash." and usually following it up with his standard "Folsom Prison Blues".

Busted Circuits and Ringing Ears chronicles the band's ascent to become one of the most crucial bands of the grunge era, and delves into the legal troubles that embroiled the band's key members before its eventual disintegration. It's an itnrugiing, and tragic, story of what could have been. The hour-and-a-half documentary was produced by Ryan Short and Adam Pease and contains archival footage that spans the band's entire career, from the club days to the arenas. Interviews with nearly all of Tad's members past and present (save for guitarist Gary Thorstensen is a no-show) snag the spotlight, while the documentary also pulls from insightful interviews from some of Seattle's most respected musicians, including Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Chad Channing (Nirvana), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Mark Felchtone (Zeke), and many others.

Soundgarden was one of the seminal bands in the creation of grunge, a style of alternative rock that developed in Seattle, and was one of a number of grunge bands signed to the record label Sub Pop. Soundgarden was the first grunge band to sign to a major label (A&M; Records, in 1988), though the band did not achieve commercial success until they popularized the genre in the early 1990s with Seattle contemporaries Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains.

Soundgarden is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and rhythm guitarist Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Matt Cameron became the band's full-time drummer in 1986, while bassist Ben Shepherd became a permanent replacement for Yamamoto in 1990.
Soundgarden was one of the seminal bands in the creation of grunge, a style of alternative rock that developed in Seattle, and was one of a number of grunge bands signed to the record label Sub Pop. Soundgarden was the first grunge band to sign to a major label (A&M; Records, in 1988), though the band did not achieve commercial success until they popularized the genre in the early 1990s with Seattle contemporaries Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains.

They are amazing live, far more explosive than the video and the last of a dying breed, so would advice all you rock dudes to catch them live to witness the ultimate Rock extravaganza.

One of the things I tend to obsess over is how bands and other musicians evolve in their work, where they evolved from and what they evolve(d) into. I try piecing together compilations to demonstrate these evolutions, but also trying to arrange them in such a way that they might flow more like albums than simple playlists. Hopefully that’s what I’ve done here! Or at least manage to introduce new fans to these artists.

On July 7, 2014, Premier Guitar met with Jesse Lacey and his tech Joe Cannetti, and lead guitarist Vincent Accardi of the Long Island alt-rockers Brand New before their show in Louisville, Kentucky. Lacey spilled the dirt on his love of Fender guitars and fuzz pedals.
Lacey keeps it all single-coil. His No. 1 is a battered ’70s Fender Tele with a Curtis Novak Tel-V bridge pickup. Next is a 2006 Fender Custom Shop Jazzmaster with a matching headstock. Last, but not least, is a 2009 Stagg Jazzmaster-style guitar with single-coils in the neck and middle positions, and a Fender Jaguar single-coil in the bridge position.
Lacey goes big and loud with a DR103 Hiwatt Custom 100 head plugged into a Janice 2x12 cab loaded with one Eminence Delta and one Swamp Thang speaker. Running in conjunction with the Hiwatt is a Gibson 1990s-era Orange Overdrive 80 that has been modded for 120-watt output. The Orange drives a Janice 2x12 with two Weber FC12s.

TAD took the idea of playing LIVE very seriously; it was a life or death matter. This DVD not only stands as testimony to that claim, but its also a cinematic document of the worlds HEAVIEST band EVER (as Bruce Pavitt so incisively puts it) bodily stretching that assertion beyond any previously known limitations. Better than a tattoo, its an open scar that roars, a broken alarm bell ringing from the lost event horizon of a long-dead star, one we could never see--that is, until this DVD clipped it back onto the light box of the silver screen, where it can be deciphered and viewed anew.
