Cần Thơ ( listen) is the fourth-largest city in Vietnam, and the largest city in the Mekong Delta.
It is noted for its floating market, rice paper-making village, and picturesque rural canals. It had a population of 1.2 million as of 2011, and is located on the south bank of the Hau River, a branch of the Mekong. In 2007, about 50 people died when the Cần Thơ Bridge collapsed, causing Vietnam's worst engineering disaster. In 2011, Can Tho International Airport opened.
The city is nicknamed the "western capital" (Tây Đô), and is located 169 kilometres (105 miles) from Ho Chi Minh City. Cần Thơ's climate is tropical and monsoonal with two seasons: rainy, from May to November; and dry, from December to April. Average annual humidity is 83%, rainfall 1,635 mm (64 in) and temperature 27 °C (81 °F).
The city is an independent municipality at the same level as provinces of Vietnam. It was created in the beginning of 2004 by a split of the former Cần Thơ Province into two new administrative units: Cần Thơ City and Hậu Giang Province.

Vietnam (UK /ˌvjɛtˈnæm, -ˈnɑːm/, US i/ˌviːətˈnɑːm, -ˈnæm/;Vietnamese: Việt Nam [viət˨ næm˧]), officially the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV; Vietnamese: Cộng Hòa Xã Hội Chủ Nghĩa Việt Nam ( listen)), is the easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. With an estimated 90.5 million inhabitants as of 2014, it is the world's 14th-most-populous country, and the eighth-most-populous Asian country. The name Vietnam translates as "Southern Viet" (synonymous with the much older term Nam Viet); it was first officially adopted in 1802 by Emperor Gia Long, and was adopted again in 1945 with the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam under Ho Chi Minh. The country is bordered by China to the north, Laos to the northwest, Cambodia to the southwest, and Malaysia across the South China Sea to the southeast. Its capital city has been Hanoi since the reunification of North and South Vietnam in 1975.
I travel to Can Tho City to experience the floating market and a tourist resort called My Khanh. Many people argue that the Can Tho Floating Market is extremely touristy. It sure is, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're in South Vietnam. You can actually leave Saigon in the middle of the night and get there by 5 AM to board a boat. You can return to Saigon around noon and make it back by night fall. My favorite thing to do in Can Tho is to eat food offered by hawkers and boat vendors. You can expect pretty much almost every kind of Vietnamese food on the river. -------------------------------------------------- About Me: I'm Kyle Le and I live, travel, and eat in Vietnam and many Asian countries. Bánh mì (/ˈbæn ˌmiː/; Vietnamese pronunciation: [ɓǎɲ mî]) is a Vietnamese term for all kinds of bread. The word is derived from bánh (bread) and mì (wheat, also spelled mì in northern Vietnam). Bread, or more specifically the baguette, was introduced by the French during its colonial period. The bread most commonly found in Vietnam is a single-serving baguette, which is usually more airy than its Western counterpart, with a thinner crust. The term bánh mì is also sometimes used as a synecdoche for a "Vietnamese sandwich". In the Western Hemisphere, especially in areas with substantial Vietnamese expatriate communities, the term is used to refer to a type of meat-filled sandwich on bánh mì bread, found in Vietnamese bakeries. Unlike the traditional French baguette, the Vietnamese baguette...
Can Tho 2016. Can Tho city. Vietnam 2016. Mekong Delta. This is an amazing destination and my favourite place in Vietnam. The people are friendly and very welcoming. It is also close to the countryside. The surrounding area has rivers, canals, rice paddies and numerous fruit trees and farms. So it's great if you like a varied landscape and tons of fresh air and being close to nature. The streets are also spacious and traffic is a lot more forgiving than in Saigon. People are polite. Less swearing. More courtesy. Manners still prevail here. All in all a fantastic place with fantastic people. That's all I can say. Check it out. Definitely a must see spot in Vietnam 2016
Beautiful Can Tho in 4K. Flycam. Vietnam 2016. Another video from my favourite city in the world. The Can Tho city centre is getting quite populous and modern. But a stone's throw away you can still find lush fields of green. Fruit trees, cows peacefully grazing in the fields, ducks waddling in pond farms, rice crops being harvested or planted by hard working farmers, children running across monkey bridges, straw huts housing grains, weather beaten schools and kids having fun flying kites from building sites to relax in the evening. Muddy rivers and canals surround this lovely town in a protective and watery embrace. Please enjoy. Music: Disco Lounge by Kevin Macleod.
Can Tho Vietnam. Life in Can Tho today. Vietnam in HD. See how Vietnamese people live on the Mekong Delta today. Experience how it feels to ride a bike through Vietnam's countryside and rural towns. It may not be as posh as Saigon but Can Tho is chock full of hard working honest Vietnamese battlers just trying to earn a crust from the land. Please enjoy.
