First look inside new Cooma Service Centre | Photos

Workers have been busy putting the finishing touches on the stunning new Service NSW Centre at 125 Sharp Street Cooma, which will open its doors on Wednesday, April 27.

The state-of-the-art facility is being provided by Service NSW, a new government agency that allows people to access NSW Government services including Roads and Maritime, Fair Trading, the Seniors Card, and Births, Deaths and Marriages, in one convenient location.

Queuing times and client frustration are kept to a minimum through a high-tech check-in system that even allows customers to obtain wait-time estimates online before they leave home.

The centre will allow customers to access more than 850 government services and transactions, many of which were previously unavailable in the area.

Customers will be able to renew their driver licence, apply for a NSW Seniors Card, purchase a National Park Pass, receive a copy of their birth certificate, apply for a Responsible Service of Alcohol Competency Card, renew a vessel registration, and more.

Driver testing services will also be available at the new Centre, with testing being extended to Bombala.

Previously, motor registry services were available from the Cooma motor registry office on the corner of Massie and Soho Streets, where they will continue until the opening of the the new Centre.

Staffed by a team of five, up from three at the former motor registry, the service centre will be managed by Cooma local Andrew Dunkerley.

The Cooma Service Centre will be open for extended trading hours, from 8:30am until 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, and customers can also access many services online 24/7 through www.service.nsw.gov.au, by phoning 13 77 88, or via the Service NSW mobile app.
