iTunes Subscription - The SMH

Please note: If you have a subscription through iTunes, your subscription is managed by and through iTunes. Fairfax Media does not manage subscriptions purchased via iTunes. Should you require further assistance, please contact iTunes support at https://www.apple.com/support/itunes/.

Here are recommended simple troubleshooting steps when you see the screen below after trying to login.

  1. Click on Restore iTunes subscription. If this link doesn't work, you may restore your app purchases by:

     

    a. Clicking on the 'Menu' button on the upper left.

     

    b. Then tap on the 'Settings' link from the 'Menu' options.

     

    c. You should see a screen like this, where you can restore your iTunes Subscription.

  2. If the application is still not working, you may uninstall and reinstall the app before restoring the purchases.

    To Uninstall the App:

     

    a. Tap on your Newsstand folder

     

    b. Press and hold on the icon for few seconds until it wiggles and tap on the (x) badge that pops up in the corner of it.

     

    c. Tap on the 'Delete' button in the confirmation box.

     

    d. This is how your Newsstand will look like once the The Age App has been deleted.

     

    To Reinstall the App:

    a. Go to Home Screen and open the 'App Store'

     

    b. Key in 'The Age for iPad' in the search bar on the upper left and press enter. Once the search is done, you may click on the 'Cloud' Icon on top of the App.

     

    c. After clicking the 'Cloud' Icon, you will see the icons change to the Progress Bar (Solid blue square with thin circle). The circle will become thicker once the download and install process are complete.

     

    d. Once the app download and install process are complete the word on the icon will change to 'Open'"'.

     

    e. You will see this screen once you click on 'Open'. Tap on 'View Today's Edition' and you will be redirected to the Front Page. You may now restore you're The Age iTunes subscription (Instructions above) before you view the articles.

How to cancel my iTunes Subscription?

  1. Go to Home Screen and open the 'App Store'

  2. Once the App Store is open, Tap 'Featured' at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the 'Featured' page where you should see a button labelled 'Apple ID' - tap on that. If you are not signed in, tap the Sign In button, and key in your Apple ID. Then, go back to the previous page, and tap the Apple ID button again.

  4. The Account page will appear. Tap on the 'Manage' button under 'Subscriptions'.

  5. You will then be able to view all your iTunes purchases.

  6. Tap on the 'The SMH for iPad' subscription and turn off Auto-renewal.
