The truthful soldier Stirling didn't know how to lie about his source of information, the talking army Mule, Francis, so he was treated as a lunatic and led to one after another hilarious situations, where the mule was the only one that appeared in his right mind. In the process of all this, the mule assisted in uncovering a spy, Mareen, who pretended to be lost among the jungles, but was actually... This is a perfect family film, even amusing to the adults. If people all have enough sense as this talking mule does, the world will be a much better place than its present condition.

The film dramatizes about a dozen vignettes from the life of St. Francis and his early followers - starting with their return in the rain to Rivotorlo from Rome when the Pope blessed their Rule and ending with their dispersal to preach. The unconnected chapters are like parables, some with a moral. The slight and comic Ginepro returns naked to St. Mary's of the Angels, having given away his tunic, but not his ricotta. The aged Giovanni shouts and holds onto his cape; the beatific St. Clair pays a visit. Humble Francis doubts his leadership, hugs a leper, and sends his brothers spinning, dizzy, and smiling into the world. This brotherhood is infused with whimsy as well as belief.

Du ballet « Les Biches » (1923), dont on peut écouter des extraits sur la collectionCB, au « Gloria, pour soprano solo, chœur mixte et orchestre » (1961), le chemin aura été mouvementé et fécond comme l'atteste le « Concerto pour piano » composé en 1950 et qui fait le juste milieu entre les plaisirs frivoles et les besoins de l'âme. Here is a clip from the original American release prologue to Roberto Rossellini's "Flowers of St Francis" (Francesco, giullare di Dio). This non-Rossellini prologue placed the film in a historical context through frescoes and paintings by Giotto and others.

O médico curitibano Paulo Furtado tem em mãos um documento de muito valor histórico e cultural para a cidade. Trata-se da partitura original da canção "Monsieur Le Consul à Curityba", ganhadora do primeiro Grande Prêmio da Canção Francesa, de 1950. A descoberta foi feita em 15 de junho de 1964, pelo tio de Paulo, o dentista curitibano Arlindo Furtado, hoje residente no Rio de Janeiro. A intenção dos dois é doar o registro a um museu local para que todos os curitibanos tenham acesso a parte dessa história, de 62 anos, praticamente desconhecida.
Como conta o médico, na década de 60 o tio, graduado em odontologia, foi a Paris para fazer uma especialização. Os colegas do instituto onde Arlindo estudava na França sabiam que ele era de Curitiba e certa vez, em uma brincadeira, perguntaram se ele não seria o cônsul de Curitiba. Foi assim que ele ficou sabendo da história dessa música, premiada no grande Prêmio da França, de 1950, no cassino da cidade de Deauville, norte de Paris. Curioso, ele foi atrás e percorreu os Bouquinists (espécie de quiosques de livros e discos antigos) nas margens do Rio Sena, até que encontrou a partitura original e o disco, conta Paulo.
A canção tem a música assinada por Marc Hevral e a letra de Fernand Vimont e Henry Le Marchand. A mesma já foi regravada por, pelo menos, outros quatros artistas e gravadoras diferentes. Classificada como um samba lento, a letra da canção, em resumo, fala de alguém que está no Brasil em uma cidade pequena e charmosa, um canto tranquilo onde a vida é doce e que se chama Curitiba. Em cada linha da partitura, é descrita como vive bem a pessoa que, na música, é chamada de senhor cônsul de Curitiba
O cônsul de que fala a canção era o cônsul da Inglaterra em Curitiba Blas Gomm que recebeu em sua casa o autor da canção. A casa é aquela tombada pelo Patrimônio e que foi removida do seu local original e o grande terreno naquele tempo, todo belamente ajardinado de que fala a canção é o local onde está atualmente o shopping center na avenida do batel .

Donald David Dixon Ronald O’Connor (August 28, 1925 - September 27, 2003) was an American dancer, singer, and actor who came to fame in a series of movies in which he co-starred alternately with Gloria Jean, Peggy Ryan, and Francis the Talking Mule. He is best known today for his role as Gene Kelly's friend and colleague Cosmo Brown in Singin' in the Rain (1952).
Though he considered Danville, Illinois to be his home town, O’Connor was born in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Chicago. His parents, Effie Irene (née Crane) and John Edward "Chuck" O'Connor, were vaudeville entertainers. His father's family was from County Cork, Ireland. When O'Connor was only a few years old, he and his sister Arlene were in a car crash outside a theater in Hartford, Connecticut; O'Connor survived, but his sister was killed. Several weeks later, his father died of a heart attack while dancing on stage in Brockton, Massachusetts. O'Connor at the time was being held in the arms of the theater manager Mr. Maurice Sims.

Plot: Prashant Verma works as a reporter with "Navkranti", which is owned and operated by Pandey. The aged Giovanni shouts and holds onto his cape; the beatific St. Clair pays a visit. Humble Francis doubts his leadership, hugs a leper, and sends his brothers spinning, dizzy, and smiling into the world. This brotherhood is infused with whimsy as well as belief. -

1950's Camp Francis E. House, Brimson MN Camp House
Captured from 8mm film that was recorded in 1952, 1953, 1954. Located on George Lake This camp is now called Camp House. It was once owned by the Duluth Missabe and Northern Railway Employee Association. Used as a camp for children of railroad employees. This film captures portions of one family and their repeated trips to Camp House during the 1950's. It is now owned and operated by Green Lake Lutheran Ministries. Their web site is gilm.org. -

Humble Francis doubts his leadership, hugs a leper, and sends his brothers spinning, dizzy, and smiling into the world. This brotherhood is infused with whimsy as well as belief.

O médico curitibano Paulo Furtado tem em mãos um documento de muito valor histórico e cultural para a cidade. Trata-se da partitura original da canção "Monsieur Le Consul à Curityba", ganhadora do primeiro Grande Prêmio da Canção Francesa, de 1950. A descoberta foi feita em 15 de junho de 1964, pelo tio de Paulo, o dentista curitibano Arlindo Furtado, hoje residente no Rio de Janeiro. A intenção dos dois é doar o registro a um museu local para que todos os curitibanos tenham acesso a parte dessa história, de 62 anos, praticamente desconhecida.
Como conta o médico, na década de 60 o tio, graduado em odontologia, foi a Paris para fazer uma especialização. Os colegas do instituto onde Arlindo estudava na França sabiam que ele era de Curitiba e certa vez, em uma brincadeira, perguntaram se ele não seria o cônsul de Curitiba. Foi assim que ele ficou sabendo da história dessa música, premiada no grande Prêmio da França, de 1950, no cassino da cidade de Deauville, norte de Paris. Curioso, ele foi atrás e percorreu os Bouquinists (espécie de quiosques de livros e discos antigos) nas margens do Rio Sena, até que encontrou a partitura original e o disco, conta Paulo.
A canção tem a música assinada por Marc Hevral e a letra de Fernand Vimont e Henry Le Marchand. A mesma já foi regravada por, pelo menos, outros quatros artistas e gravadoras diferentes. Classificada como um samba lento, a letra da canção, em resumo, fala de alguém que está no Brasil em uma cidade pequena e charmosa, um canto tranquilo onde a vida é doce e que se chama Curitiba. Em cada linha da partitura, é descrita como vive bem a pessoa que, na música, é chamada de senhor cônsul de Curitiba
O cônsul de que fala a canção era o cônsul da Inglaterra em Curitiba Blas Gomm que recebeu em sua casa o autor da canção. A casa é aquela tombada pelo Patrimônio e que foi removida do seu local original e o grande terreno naquele tempo, todo belamente ajardinado de que fala a canção é o local onde está atualmente o shopping center na avenida do batel .

The X-Men defeated Acadia and St. Thomas to win the Nova Scotia and Maritime Intercollegiate Championships. The StFX team defeated the Antigonish Bulldogs and the Stellarton Royals to win the A.P.C. Championship and the right to play Amherst for the Maritime Senior Championship. Next, the X-Men defeated the powerful Amherst Ramblers to win the Maritime Senior Championship, becoming the first university team to take the senior crown.
StFX then met Quebec champions, the Dolbeau Castors, in their quest for the Allan Cup. The X-Men lost the series 3 games to 1. After their successful season, there was much speculation that the team should represent Canada at the Olympic Games. Although StFX was seriously considered, another team was chosen. However, being considered for selection showed the high esteem that many held for this great hockey team.

Reluctant Saint - Francis of Assisi
For those who know nothing about the life and ministry of Francis of Assisi, this is an excellent place to start. The documentary spans his initial encounter with Christ all the way to his death, in just under an hour. Indeed, it is a sketch with some nice insights provided by various commentators. I'm not partial to reenactments, and there are plenty here. I prefer seeing the places themselves, as well as the art of the time. As the documentary creators are only imagining what the visuals, I would prefer to be allowed to do the same; dramatizing these events without the depth that can occur in a film risks deflating the impact of the moment. For those who know nothing about the life and ministry of Francis of Assisi, this is an excellent place to start. The documentary spans his initial encounter with Christ all the way to his death, in just under an hour. Indeed, it is a sketch with some nice insights provided by various commentators. I'm not partial to reenactments, and there are plenty here. I prefer seeing the places themselves, as well as the art of the time. As the documentary creators are only imagining what the visuals, I would prefer to be allowed to do the same; dramatizing these events without the depth that can occur in a film risks deflating the impact of the moment. This does happen here...I found myself looking away and listening to the words and enjoyed it much better. But there are beautiful countrysides, and plenty of other visuals which work quite well. In the end, this is a pleasant way to get an introduction to the work of Francis, and hopefully a desire to learn much more.
