An elite team of U.S. Navy SEALs is trapped deep in hostile territory amongst an international crisis that has spun out of control in the Caucasus region. Russia is at war with Georgia and several other break-away republics in the region.
The U.S. has publicly declared a neutral stance on the unfolding crisis, but the situation has recently become more complicated. U.S. intel has confirmed that WMDs from an unknown source have fallen into the hands of separatist rebels fighting in the war in support of the Russian army. In the public eye, Russia has formally denied any affiliation with these terrorist regimes. However, intel has suggested the contrary. The KGB has strategically been aiding and supplying these separatist rebels in hopes that their various attacks on civilian targets will strike fear deep into the enemies of Russia, depleting what is left of their morale.
Operation Red Rover: The U.S. has secretly sent in a small Elite SEAL unit to disable any WMDs that are in the possession of separatist rebel fighters, as well as collect intel that could provide evidence to the world that the Russian Government has been directly financing terrorism against its adversaries. This would surely lead to a United Nations' War-Crime investigation on the KGB.
After some major complications with the mission, the SEAL team is now stuck deep in war-torn Russia, unable to be extracted as planned. They are tasked to hike through the Caucasus mountains and over the border into Georgia, where they can safely be extracted out to complete their mission. It is essential they keep a low profile and are not detected or captured. Not only would this mean that the vital intel they are carrying would never be retrieved, but the knowledge of their very presence on Russian soil could be seen as an act of war, bringing the U.S. into a conflict they do not seek..

This patrol was a relief in place and I was on point leading the new guys in for the RIP. We hadn't taken much contact in this area, and it was generally considered a "safe" zone in Logar Province.
We patrolled the area frequently, and the locals would regularly thank us for pushing the Taliban away from their village so they could live their daily lives without constant threat.
The Taliban that we came across during this patrol were actually setting up to shoot down our new surveillance balloon that was launched in the area. The balloon caught the entire fight on camera from above, which confirmed that we killed 3 Taliban fighters during this engagement.
I saw the first guy shoulder his RPG, take a knee, and point it directly at me from about 15 meters away. I'm not sure if it was luck, but I shot first and hit him twice. The rest of the team engaged immediately after.
At the end of the day there were no friendly casualties, and we had eliminated 3 Taliban fighters.
I wanted to share the video with the world because I was sick of hearing all the ignorant things said about what we are doing over there. People need to understand what it's like on the ground for the troops on the front line, and see what we have to deal with on a daily basis without some political spin on the story.
This footage has been edited to exclude the close up graphic footage of the enemy KIA.

An ambush is a long-established military tactic, in which the aggressors (the ambushing force) take advantage of concealment and the element of surprise to attack an unsuspecting enemy from concealed positions, such as among dense underbrush or behind hilltops. Ambushes have been used consistently throughout history, from ancient to modern warfare.
In ancient times, an ambush often might involve thousands of soldiers on a large scale, such as over a mountain pass. Ambushes appear many times in military history. One outstanding example from ancient times is the Battle of the Trebia river. Hannibal encamped within striking distance of the Romans with the Trebia River between them, and placed a strong force of cavalry and infantry in concealment, near the battle zone. He had noticed, says Polybius, a “place between the two camps, flat indeed and treeless, but well adapted for an ambuscade, as it was traversed by a water-course with steep banks, densely overgrown with brambles and other thorny plants, and here he proposed to lay a stratagem to surprise the enemy”. When the Roman infantry became entangled in combat with his army, the hidden ambush force attacked the legionnaires in the rear. The result was slaughter and defeat for the Romans. Nevertheless the battle also displays the effects of good tactical discipline on the part of the ambushed force. Although most of the legions were lost, about 10,000 Romans cut their way through to safety, maintaining unit cohesion. This ability to maintain discipline and break out or maneuver away from a killing zone is a hallmark of good troops and training in any ambush situation. See Ranger reference below.

Basically we were on a cache search when we hit an enemy ambush from about 30-50 meters away, you can hear the bullets going by Gannon's head. Gannon leads his SAW gunner to fight through the ambush and sets up a base of fire for the rest of the squad to reach him from the open field, un-noticed valor that goes on everyday in Afghanistan and Iraq. The U.S. has publicly declared a neutral stance on the unfolding crisis, but the situation has recently become more complicated. U.S. intel has confirmed that WMDs from an unknown source have fallen into the hands of separatist rebels fighting in the war in support of the Russian army. In the public eye, Russia has formally denied any affiliation with these terrorist regimes. However, intel has suggested the contrary. The KGB has strategically been aiding and supplying these separatist rebels in hopes that their various attacks on civilian targets will strike fear deep into the enemies of Russia, depleting what is left of their morale.
Operation Red Rover: The U.S. has secretly sent in a small Elite SEAL unit to disable any WMDs that are in the possession of separatist rebel fighters, as well as collect intel that could provide evidence to the world that the Russian Government has been directly financing terrorism against its adversaries. This would surely lead to a United Nations' War-Crime investigation on the KGB.
After some major complications with the mission, the SEAL team is now stuck deep in war-torn Russia, unable to be extracted as planned. They are tasked to hike through the Caucasus mountains and over the border into Georgia, where they can safely be extracted out to complete their mission. It is essential they keep a low profile and are not detected or captured. Not only would this mean that the vital intel they are carrying would never be retrieved, but the knowledge of their very presence on Russian soil could be seen as an act of war, bringing the U.S. into a conflict they do not seek..

The cameraman had this to say to after submitting the footage to FUNKER530:
This patrol was a relief in place and I was on point leading the new guys in for the RIP. We hadn't taken much contact in this area, and it was generally considered a "safe" zone in Logar Province.
We patrolled the area frequently, and the locals would regularly thank us for pushing the Taliban away from their village so they could live their daily lives without constant threat.
The Taliban that we came across during this patrol were actually setting up to shoot down our new surveillance balloon that was launched in the area. The balloon caught the entire fight on camera from above, which confirmed that we killed 3 Taliban fighters during this engagement.
I saw the first guy shoulder his RPG, take a knee, and point it directly at me from about 15 meters away. I'm not sure if it was luck, but I shot first and hit him twice. The rest of the team engaged immediately after.
At the end of the day there were no friendly casualties, and we had eliminated 3 Taliban fighters.
I wanted to share the video with the world because I was sick of hearing all the ignorant things said about what we are doing over there. People need to understand what it's like on the ground for the troops on the front line, and see what we have to deal with on a daily basis without some political spin on the story.
This footage has been edited to exclude the close up graphic footage of the enemy KIA.

Basically we were on a cache search when we hit an enemy ambush from about 30-50 meters away, you can hear the bullets going by Gannon's head. Gannon leads his SAW gunner to fight through the ambush and sets up a base of fire for the rest of the squad to reach him from the open field, un-noticed valor that goes on everyday in Afghanistan and Iraq. Unfortunately the camera is knocked off mid way through the video and pretty much just for audio.

STORYLINE:
Taliban fighters ambushed US Marines and Afghan troops during a school supply mission in Eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, sparking a fierce firefight.
The school is in the Korengal Valley, which has earned the nickname 'The Valley of Death' among troops, who consider it one of the most dangerous places to be based in the whole country.
Early on Saturday, a company of Afghan National Army (ANA) troops, accompanied by US Marine trainers embarked on a mission to deliver classroom supplies donated from Hawaii to the village of Aliabad.
The morning's events were filmed by a cameraman embedded with US forces in Afghanistan.
The mission began smoothly. The captain in charge of the ANA handed out the 60 bags of supplies to the 380 students, who range in age from five to 12.
In a classroom, the Afghan commander, Captain Mubarak Shah, asks a boy what he thinks of the Taliban.
"You like the Americans or the Taliban?" he asks. The boy replies "I don't know," while others answer: "Taliban".
The troops suspect many of the boys' fathers may in fact be Taliban fighters, and are prepared for what happens next.
The military believes someone in the village, or a spotter nearby, has alerted the Taliban to the mission.
Shots ring out just as Captain Shah is explaining how the strategy of reaching out to this community is winning some locals over.

Two British teenagers accused of battering an alcoholic woman to death in 2014 have been sentenced to life in prison. The two girls, now 15, were convicted of murdering 39-year-old Angela Wrightson on April 5 after an eight-week crown court trail in Leeds, England, the Guardian reported. On April 7, they were both sentenced to life in prison. They are required to serve a minimum of 15 years of their sentence ... 8, 2014 ... that day....
