Liza May Minnelli (pronunciation: /ˈlaɪzə mɪˈnɛli/, born March 12, 1946) is an American actress and singer best known for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in the 1972 musical film Cabaret which won her an Academy Award for Best Actress.
The daughter of film actress and singer Judy Garland (1922–1969) and film director Vincente Minnelli (1903–1986), Liza Minnelli started her career while in her teens as a musical theatre actress and nightclub performer in New York City. In 1965, she made her Broadway debut in the musical Flora the Red Menace and was awarded the Tony Award for best actress in a musical (at 19, the youngest actress in Broadway history to win the honor). Critically lauded for her dramatic performance in the film The Sterile Cuckoo (1969), she rose to international stardom with Cabaret and the Emmy Award-winning TV special Liza with a Z (1972). Many of her following film projects got mixed reviews and failed commercially, until the 1981 comedy Arthur. She successfully returned to Broadway stage starring in the musical The Act in 1977. Known today as a pop standard singer, she recorded contemporary singer-songwriter material through the late 1960s and 1970s.

That's okay for some people don't know they're alive! Some people can thrive and bloom, living life in a living room! That's perfect for some people of one hundred and five! But I at least gotta try! When I think of all the sights that I gotta see and all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at, come on papa, what'd'ya say? Some people can be content, playin' bingo and payin' rent! That's livin' for some people, for some hum-drum people to be, but some people - ain't me! I had a dream, a wonderful dream, papa! A powerhouse packed into a 4' 11" frame, Judy Garland shot to stardom at 17 with "The Wizard of Oz". She and Mickey Rooney went on to star in 9 movies aimed at teen audience. The cute little girl in this video is her daughter Liza Minnelli. Ms. Garland's tumultuous life with drugs is well documented, and at the age of 47 she died of drug overdose. The soundtrack, "You Go To My Head" by Judy Garland, is a live recording at Carnegie Hall in 1961. NOTE: Since it's a live recording, if you listen closely, Ms. Garland forgot the lyrics about 57 seconds into the video, and, in a hilarious ad-lib, sang "with...and I forgot the god-darn words...(garbled)." The actual lyrics, which she later remembered, are "with a smile that makes my temperature rise, like a summer with a thousand Julys."
Coming to a town near you in Autumn 2011! This dazzling production tells the turbulent takes of Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli against the backdrop of their infamous 1964 London Palladium concert. West End stars Lucy Williamson and Emma Dears belt out their most famous hits with uncanny accuracy, bursting with elusive star quality. Featuring live performances of all of your favourite Judy and Liza hits including Cabaret, Maybe This Time, The Trolley Song and The Man That Got Away. This is a show that the whole family will not want to miss. So, come hear the music play, as the curtain rises once more on Judy and Liza. “...their performances are spellbinding.” WhatsOnStage.com www.judyandliza.com

Come on babe, why don’t we paint the town?
And all that jazz
I’m gonna rouge my knees and roll my stockings down
And all that jazz
Start the car, I know a whoopee spot
Where the gin is cold, but the piano’s hot
It’s just a noisy hall where there’s a nightly brawl
And all... that... jazz
Slick your hair, and wear your buckle shoes
And all that jazz
I hear that Father Dipp is gonna blow the blues
And all that jazz
Hold on hun, we’re gonna bunny hug
I bought some aspirin, down at United Drug
In case you shake apart, and want a brand new start
To do... that... jazz
Oh, you’re gonna see your sheba shimmy shake
And all that jazz
Oh, she’s gonna shimmy till her garters break
And all that jazz
Show her where to park her girdle
Oh, her mother’s blood’ll curdle *
Did she hear, her baby's queer*
For all... that... jazz!
Find a flask, we’re playing fast and loose
And all that jazz
Right up here is where I store the juice
And all that jazz
Come on babe, we’re gonna brush the sky
I betcha lucky Lindy
Never flew so high
Cause in the stratosphere
How could he lend an ear
To all... that... jazz?
No, I’m no one’s wife
But, oh I love my life
And all... that... jazz!!
