Lili Haydn is a Canadian-born rock violinist, vocalist, recording artist, and composer. As a child, she pursued a career as an actress; at age eight she discovered the violin and began to focus on classical music. By the time Haydn was fifteen, she had played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
After graduating from Brown University with a B.A. in political science, Haydn started composing original songs and became one of the most requested session violinists around Los Angeles. By the time she signed with Atlantic in 1997, she had embraced a variety of genres, having played with Quwaali musician Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Porno for Pyros, Tracy Chapman, The Jayhawks, Brandy, Tony! Toni! Tone!, No Doubt, Tom Petty and more. In addition, she has played with, sung with, and opened for Sting, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Robert Plant & Jimmy Page, Matchbox 20, Seal, and George Clinton, who calls her "the Jimi Hendrix of the violin".
Haydn was born in Toronto, Canada. She is the daughter of comedienne Lotus Weinstock and video artist David Jove, who was one of the first people to mass produce LSD. Haydn's parents allowed her to choose her own first name. She reportedly chose the name "Helicopter" by which she was known briefly.

This week on Q score Jonathan McHugh sits down with renaissance woman Lili Haydn, who's done it all. You name it: from virtuoso rock violinist to vocalist and acting, film composer Lili Haydn (who fittingly also shares the name of classical composer Joseph Haydn) is an example of a Jill of all trades, allowing her name to pop up in all corners of a film's music department. Haydn is perhaps most known for composing The House That Jack Built and The Sublime and Beautiful, but her work as an artist ranges from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, to Kick Ass 2, The Town, and Fright Night. Her work as an actress has led her roles in multiple TV film/series roles. Jonathan McHugh has spent over two decades working in film, TV and music. Mchugh's background ranges from record and film com...

On October 11, 1991, a poised young law professor sent shock waves through the nation as she sat before the Senate Judiciary Committee intrepidly testifying to the lewd behavior of a Supreme Court nominee. Twenty years later, Academy Award winner and Sundance veteran Freida Mock (Wrestling with Angels screened at the 2006 Festival) brings us ANITA, which crystallizes the sexist power dynamics in the room that day and unravels the impact of that lightning-rod moment on Anita Hill's life and the broader discussion of gender inequality in...

Song: Love Is Letting Go Artist: Lili Haydn I do not own the music from the video. All rights reserved to Lili Haydn. The photo's downloaded legally from the official website of departures TV. All rights reserved to that website (http://www.departuresentertainment.com/). ------ I love Mongolia so much. I love the show departures, and two of the episodes are about Mongolia. I love this song, and it's a piece of music from the soundtrack of the documentary The Horse Boy which is related to Mongolia as well. That's why I link these two stuff together. They are not so relevant to each other tho.

Lili Haydn, Durga McBroom and Ital Disraeli perform “I Am A Man (I Will Be Counted)” — a song inspired by the signs the Memphis sanitation workers carried when they marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968 — before a preview screening of “The Best Democracy Money Can Buy” in Santa Monica, CA on September 18, 2016. This November, thanks to a program called Crosscheck, not everyone’s vote will count. In Crosscheck states 1 in 7 voters of color have been flagged by the system. A total of 7.2 million Americans are on the Crosscheck lists… And may lose their vote because of it. Over 1 million Americans will likely be scrubbed from voter rolls by November 8 because of Crosscheck alone! Demand an investigation into the racially-biased Crosscheck purge operation… And the release of the names...

Maggot Brain! One of the best performances ever!
Inspired by the iconic signs worn by the sanitation workers when they marched with Martin Luther King before he was killed. I AM A MAN is the essence of every movement - stating that life matters and it matters how we treat each other. I am a man I will be counted The Lord who brought me here wants me to be free "You can kill the dreamer, you can never kill the dream"* *Rev. Billy Kyles

There's no greater pain, the only thing I know
There's no great pain than to lose your little girl
She walks alone in midnight hour
Her baby's gone to a higher power
Her faith is strong, her heart betroved
Her song intones the myth of job
There's no great pain, baby's gone away
She offered me her heart, no end to her sorrow
Where is God oh faithful one
In struggle lies evolution
Where is God oh faithful one
