John Damian Androcles Aspinall (born 24 May 1960) is an English businessman and conservationist, notable for his raising and release of a number of a zoo-bred Lowland Gorillas in Gabon.
Aspinall is the son of Jane Gordon Hastings and John Victor Aspinall (d.2000) who was a zoo owner, gambler, founder of Aspers, conservationist and the stepson of Sir George Osborne, 16th Baronet. Damian's step-mother is Lady Sarah Aspinall; in 1972, his father had married, (for the third time), Lady Sarah ("Sally") Courage, widow of the racing driver Piers Courage and daughter of Francis Curzon, 5th Earl Howe (d.1964). From the age of six, Damien Aspinall was educated, as a boarder, at Millfield School, Somerset.
Aspinall's wealth is estimated to be around £200m. Aspinall acquired his wealth independently in the real estate business - his father refusing to assist him financially. After his father's death in 2000, Damian bought back the family casino interests with the help of Australian associate James Packer, son of Kerry Packer.
Wild Animal is the 1984 debut solo album by Canadian singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress Vanity, released by Motown Records on November 10, 1984. This out of print recording was originally released on LP (6102ML) and cassette (6102MC). Despite her thin vocals, Wild Animal is a respectable solo debut. The singer's lyrics, often risqué, are not as raunchy as her work with Vanity 6.
The album features R&B/dance hit, lead single "Pretty Mess". The song is an infectious slice of funk-rock with a groove that sounds like's she's making an honest effort to forge head.Wild Animal is essentially an R&B album laced with big doses of rock and pop.
All songs published by Jobete Music Co., Inc. & Wolftoons Music (ASCAP). All lyrics and melodies composed by Vanity. All music composed, performed, and arranged by Bill Wolfer, except † lyrics composed by Robert Bruce McCan (Vanity's former boyfriend at that time).

The Aspinall Foundation (formerly The John Aspinall Foundation) is a British charity (Registered Charity 326567) which works to promote wildlife conservation. It was set up by professional gambler and zoo owner John Aspinall in 1984 and runs the two zoos he set up, Port Lympne Wild Animal Park and Howletts Wild Animal Park in Kent, England. It also supports a number of conservation projects overseas to protect endangered species. The charity is now run by John's son, Damian Aspinall.
In addition to running the zoos, which breed rare and endangered animals, the Foundation campaigns on a range of wildlife issues, such as opposing Chinese moves to relax the rules regarding the trade in products made from tigers. The twin zoos are currently home to 14 Indian, Siberian and Sumatran tigers. The Foundation set up a project for gorillas orphaned by bush meat poachers in the Republic of Congo in the late 1980s and in 1998, set up an orphan gorilla project in the neighbouring state of Gabon. It also supports the 'Project Protection des Gorilles Gabon' which is based in Franceville in Gabon and seeks to reintroduce gorillas in the Plateau Bateke National Park. In 2013 the foundation launched a programme to breed Scottish wildcats, with plans to create a breeding centre on the island of Càrna, off the west coast of Scotland.

In Roy Deverell's 1982 film John Aspinall tells the story of his pioneering zoo parks in Kent, England, where the animals are treated as guests rather than exhibits. Aspinall died in 2000 but his son, Damian, ensures that the zoos continue to be run in accordance with his father's unique philosophy. A PASSION TO PROTECT was awarded the Gold Plaque and Silver Hugo at the Chicago International Film Festival.

"I hope people who see this will ... take an interest in the work that we're doing at the Aspinall Foundation, and help gorillas in the wild," British animal park owner and conservationist Damian Aspinall intones over sun-flooded footage of his daughter Tansy -- a toddler at the time the video was shot -- interacting with gorillas in a straw-filled enclosure. But much of the attention surrounding the 20-year-old video of Aspinall's daughter that was posted on YouTube last week has dealt, not with the lives of gorillas in the wild, but with the question of whether or not letting a child play with gorillas is safe.A two-year-old baby gorilla named Kamoli is caught on camera playing a game of peek-a-boo with a toddler at Columbus Zoo in Ohio.
