"The Chain" is a song by the British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac, released on their best-selling album Rumours. It is the only song from the album credited to all five members (Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood); "The Chain" was created from combinations of several previously rejected materials, including solo work by Buckingham, Nicks and Christine McVie. It was assembled, often manually by splicing tapes with a razor blade, at the Record Plant in Sausalito, California, with hired engineers Ken Caillat and Richard Dashut. Following the critical and commercial success of Rumours, "The Chain" has been featured on The Dance, a 1997 live concert CD/DVD package, as well as several greatest hits compilations. It has attained particular fame in the United Kingdom, where the instrumental section is used as the theme tune for the BBC's and Channel 4's television coverage of Formula One.<ref name=Channel4Press">"Tweet". The Chain is the sixth studio album of American country singer/songwriter Deana Carter, first released in 2007. Since, the album has peaked at #60 on the US Country chart. The first and only single off the album, "On the Road Again," was released in 2007, failing to land on the chart. All the tracks on the album consist of cover songs, and many are duets with artists, such as Dolly Parton and George Jones. The record was intended as a tribute to her father, Fred Carter Jr., and many of Deana Carter's heroes.
"The Chain" is a 1977 Fleetwood Mac song.
The Chain may also refer to:
I hear their voices inside my head
There's no denying it's my private hell as
I lie in bed
I take a look around and see myself
In twenty years will I be them
I've taken all I can stand
Afraid of what kind of man I am
Does everything stay the same
Or will I break the chain
Secrets, emotions, and wounds concealed
Spirits are broken, the deepest scars that I'll never heal
They'll be back handed down from father to son
A closet full of skeletons
I've taken all I can stand
Afraid of what kind of man I am
Does everything stay the same
Or will I break the chain
I will get by
With a little understanding
'Cause it's my own life after all
I've taken all I can stand
Afraid of what kind of man I am
Does everything stay the same
