Not even an announcement!

I wish I could tell you what my plans regarding this blog are. I don’t know myself. All I do know is that I lost interest in continuing it, since it began to feel like an obligation, like work.

Stay tuned.

  1. Yep, I know the feeling. That said, I for one really enjoy your blog and would be very sorry to see you cease.

If you can find it in you – keep on keeping on!

    All the best

if you’re in need of an idea, here is one, you could repost all of your posts in glorious lossless quality, not mp3.
so many rare recordings deserve better than dead end mp3s.

My mp3 sound better than your “lossless” whatever they are.

    Vince Reply:

yeah, thats why they deserve to be spread with all their frequencies still present, not on killed at 16kHz mp3s.

don’t you know that frequencies isn’t like your hair?? they don’t grow back when cut out

    Admin Reply:

First off: My mp3 are sampled at 44.1 KHz rate (32 bit). More importantly: The crucial point for quality recording transformation lies in hardware, not software. And thirdly, you wouldn’t hear the difference anyway.

    Vince Reply:

of course i will not hear the difference, my point is not here.
it is about having/spreading/preserving the recordings in the most HI-FI quality and mp3 isn’t doing that since it removes too many frequencies.
it can only matters otherwise rec. studios would not work nowadays at 192kHz/24bit.

    Admin Reply:

kid, I ain’t no fucking recording studio. if you want to preserve recordings in a quality you can’t even hear the difference in, buy the fucking records.

Well I’m sure this little exchange has convinced you to continue blogging, I mean who wouldn’t respond positively to a request to improve the quality of the free stuff you’re giving away? Thanks.

Thank you for all the posts since the dawn of time Erich.

I hope it is not the spam comments that are referenced to in your statement here. Also I am not really interested in this ‘flac’ & ‘lossless” stuff.

  7. Erich, yours was one of the first archival blogs I ever added to my RSS, and is one of the last left standing. I hope you stick around. Thanks regardless for a great place to discover stuff I was too young to experience first time around.

Thanks for the great website. I hesitate to call it a “blog,” because it was always much more than that. I don’t blame you for wanting to get out. You put in more than could be expected of anyone. I will always have great respect for this site. It allowed me to re-hear a lot of music I hadn’t heard in years. And it also introduced me to lots of great stuff I had never heard.

while i’m sure doing this site is a huge time waster & money drainer, it would bring a glimmer of sunshine to my cold, blackened heart if i were to see a new posting by you in the (near) future. regardless, thank you for taking the time to post some truly amazing pieces of music for the whole world to learn about/check out.

    Hey Erich,
I have to admit that I hardly visit this blog anymore, instead I enjoy your activity on facebook. I do hope you keep it alive, because it stands as a monument of noisy music.

    2nd comment’s pretty much what I expected…..

    “128kbps?!?!?!? waaaaahhhhhhhhhhh”

There’s a lot of crummy ltd edition records pressed with source files culled off the web.

Don’t give the bootleggers what they want….don’t doooo iiiiiit!

    Vince Reply:

why do you want to buy bootleg releases when you can download them, like the bootleggers from the web????

i only find it’s a pity some old records that have never been repressed/ put to cd since they got out and some old demo/practice/live tapes that haven’t been spread much or in that sonic quality only get spread here in mp3.

ever made a snail mail trade only to find out that what you got is taken from mp3??

i only made a suggestion, owner is not interrested, too bad, thats all.

    Admin Reply:

It’s called democracy, buddy. What you like or don’t is of no importance here.

    [Reply]

    Vince Reply:

    yep thats what i said

    Divi Reply:

    It’s exactly what I expected.

Somebody personally rips their collection, starts to wonder if this is worth it, considers stopping.

People want him to do more work, so they can take more….

I rip my own records all the time, so yes I understand audio formats/sampling rate etc.

I’ve gotten some fantastic stuff I thought I’d never find elsewhere from this site, The owner doesn’t owe me anything.

this blog has been an institution… I’ve discovered a lot of great music, and I was finally able to listne to music I knew about already but couldn’t find anywhere.

most hobbies end up feeling like jobs, butthink back to what made you start it in the first place… where the fun was 🙂

I/we’d settle even for renewing your movie/book recommenddations, though of course more music would REALLY make this christmas!

take a break, have a rest, but come back please! Yr one of the best, and FOG rule (along with NAILS).
If not, then thanks for all your hard work and shares and words (of wisdom?) so far. Great reading, great tunes. If I was feeling unkind I’d say “fuck off to the cuckoo clock factory.”
BUT, really, ditto the comments above – have discovered much fantastic music and wouldn’t mind hearing some more.
