The Battle of Cape Engano, October 25, 1944
The USN aircraft carriers launch an aerial attack against the last operational Japanese aircraft carriers (Fleet carrier Zuikaku and 3 smaller escort carriers) off Cape Engano, near the Philippines. The Japanese carriers are sunk, but by now they are mere decoys, because Japan has run out of trained pilots for carrier warfare. By luring Admiral Halsey's fleet carriers North towards Cape Engano, the Japanese carriers have enabled Battleship Yamato and Center Force to enter Leyte Gulf undetected and to attack USN Task Force Taffy 3 (SEE MY OTHER 2 VIDEOS ON "BATTLESHIP YAMATO AND THE BATTLE OF LEYTE GULF").

Battlestations Pacific US campaign walkthrough mission 10: Battle of Cape Engano (Part 1)
Game: Battlestations: Pacific System: Xbox 360 Campaign: USA A walkthrough of mission 10. Part 1. Hidden Objective(s): Destroy the supply ships; As you are attacking the second group of carriers you will get word that intel has decoded the japanese messages and finds out that a group of ships are trying to leave the battlefield and supply other japanese forces. Your two battleships should be in a position to intercept them and are more then capable of taking them out. Once you have sunk the ships you will have completed the hidden objective. Secondary Objective(s): Prevent the loss of anymore ships; You get this objective towards the beggining of the mission and for a while it is pretty easy to carry out. The only ships at that time are the two battleships which if you use wisely won't come close to being wiped out. Once the carrier and her escort ships come into the equation, however, it becomes a little more difficulty. Some of the escort ships are quite vulernable to enemy fire and could get sunk really quick so keep them away from the enemy ships and use the two battleships (after you take out the transport convoy since it will be in the way) and squadrons of avengers to take out the remaing two carriers WITHOUT losing another ships to complete the secondary objective. Completing this mission on any difficulty will unlock the ASW Fletcher Class Destroyer. Hope this helps. Please Rate/comment.

Cape Engaño
KampeonNgPagibig.com together with TravelFactor.org visited the northernmost lighthouse of the Philippines, called Cape Engaño. This Palaui Island lighthouse guides travellers along the Babuyan Channel and serves as the commanding light for all of the remaining Babuyan Islands. Finished in 1892, it is currently currently tagged as a National Treasure by Philippine Decree.

(3/12) Battlefield I The Battle of Leyte Gulf Episode 8 (GDH)
Videos Running Time 01:55:00 in 12 Parts Battlefield I The Battle of Leyte Gulf Episode 7 (GDH) This episode of "Battlefield" chronicles The US Navys triumph over the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) at Leyte Gulf. The Battle of Leyte Gulf consisted in 4 battles extending from Surigao Strait to Cape Engano. The US Navys 7th Fleets main task was to support and land the US 6th Army at Tacloban beach in Leyte Gulf. The 7th Fleet (Kinkaid) consisted of: transports, destroyers cruisers, old battleships and escort carriers. Protecting 7th Fleet was the massive US Navys 3rd Fleet. Third Fleets task was too attack any Japanese Fleet presence and destroy Japanese land based air power. A huge Japanese armada, the IJN Central Force (Kurita), was spotted by American reconnaissance planes, attempting to enter Leyte Gulf through the Sibuyan Sea. This fleet was attacked by the 3rd Fleets carrier aircraft. The 68000 ton super battleship Musashi was sunk in this battle. (GDH) While the 3rd Fleet (Halsey) was attacking the IJN Central Force, the IJN Southern Force (Shima and Nishimura) was attempting to enter Leyte Gulf, from the southern route, through Surigao Strait. The Southern Force was, for all intents and purposes, destroyed. In perhaps the most successful US Navy torpedo attack in history, US destroyers settled the Battle of Surigao Strait before any American battleships began firing. Third Fleet believed that the IJN Central Force was in full retreat from the Philippines. However ...
