Come walk around Jogyesa Temple during the Lotus Lantern Festival in downtown Seoul!
The Lotus Lantern Festival, called 연등회 (Yeondeunghoe), is held over the course of a few weeks to celebrate Buddha's birthday. Many different events, from lantern making, lantern lighting, music, and even a huge lantern parade, are held to bring together people from all over of all walks of life.
Jogyesa Temple is located in Jongno, downtown Seoul, very close to Gwanghwamun Square. It is the chief temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It was founded in 1395, but the current structure was built in 1910.

Jogyesa is the chief temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, becoming so in 1936. It thus plays a leading role in the current state of Seon Buddhism in South Korea. The temple was first established in 1395, at the dawn of the Joseon Dynasty; the modern temple was founded in 1910 and initially called "Hwanggaksa." The name was changed to "Taegosa" during the period of Japanese rule, and then to the present name in 1954.
Jogyesa is located in Gyeonji-dong, Jongno-gu, in central Seoul. Natural monument 9, an ancient white pine tree, is located within the temple grounds.
Jogyesa came to the attention of the international news media in December 1998 due to several monks occupying the temple in a power struggle between factions of the Jogye Order. In the end, riot police were called in to take control of the temple and oust the protestors after they had occupied the building for more than 40 days.

Recently I have visited a Korean Buddhist Temple, Jogyesa. The temple is easy to get to, it is located in the middle of the city and has great atmosphere. Often it gets decorated with lanterns or flowers, which makes the temple even more special. On the way to the temple you can see many shops that sell Buddhist beads, clothes, accessories, incense and other things. Also, around spring time, on Buddha's birthday Buddhist festivals take place right on the main road, near the temple. I recommend to visit this place if you hang out in that area! Jogyesa Temple is i chief temple of the Jogye order which represents the Korean Buddhism. It promotes embodiment of society where people live together and Bodhisattva's spirit. Not everything in Seoul is great, so for you we have our travel tips. The big ones, luggage lockers are only good for 4 hours in the Seoul Train Station, unlike the 24 hour Japanese ones. Seoul, South Korea, is truly an amazing city to visit! It's modern, easy to navigate and there's little something everyone will enjoy. The Seoul subway system makes it easy to get around town and discover exactly what the giant city has to offer.
Surrounded by Japan and China, Seoul and South Korea sometimes doesn't get all the attention is deserves . Korea is home to a unique culture, cuisine and a fascinating history. If you ever have the chance to visit Seoul, you'll have a great time!
I traveled to Seoul Korea and was able to do all kinds of things, but I've narrowed this list down to twenty five of the best things to do in Seoul - of course there are other things as well but this list is just the beginning and intended to get your ideas and travel imagination flowing!

However, even though there are so many places to see and go, probably my favorite of all is eating and sampling delicious Korean food! Korean food is so good and there are so many restaurants everywhere you look in Seoul that it can truly be considered a foodie's paradise.

Recently I have visited a Korean Buddhist Temple, Jogyesa. The temple is easy to get to, it is located in the middle of the city and has great atmosphere.
Often it gets decorated with lanterns or flowers, which makes the temple even more special. On the way to the temple you can see many shops that sell Buddhist beads, clothes, accessories, incense and other things. Also, around spring time, on Buddha's birthday Buddhist festivals take place right on the main road, near the temple.
I recommend to visit this place if you hang out in that area!

Jogyesa Temple is i chief temple of the Jogye order which represents the Korean Buddhism.
It promotes embodiment of society where people live together and Bodhisattva's spirit. Also, the temple is a historic site that has lived through the turbulent modern history of Korea. Located at the heart of Seoul, the temple was adorned by beautiful flowers everywhere as part of the annual Chrysanthemum Flower Festival. The cheerful colors and nicely arranged designs gave me an incredible peace at heart. I’m sure that no matter race or religion. Jogyesa temple is a place where everyone can experience a unique and warm feeling.
For a minute all the rush and noise from a busy city disappears and you feel calm, serenity and love.
The history that Jogyesa hides between its halls and shrines is one that entails the successful revival of Korean Buddhism and the overcoming of great trials such as the oppression of Buddhism during the Joseon Period, Japanese Colonization, and the confusion of the modern era.
In addition, it is also leading devotional practices, religious and public welfare activities.
The Main Hall is opened 24 hours a day to all public allowing visits of both local and foreigners. It is promoting itself as a open space, inviting all to the temple's events and ceremonies.

Anyway, Muuido Island is an awesome escape from the Seoul area. The best thing about it? It's very close! Muuido is a short bus ride and even shorter ferry boat ride, from Incheon Airport!
Catch the #222 Blue Bus from Incheon Airport, on the 2nd level road outside of the terminal. It goes to the Muuido Island ferry dock! A round trip ticket is only 3,000 Won to Muuido Island, and the ride is possibly the shortest trip on a boat I've ever taken, for its size. It was only 5 minutes!
We went to Muuido's Hanagae Beach, which was a short village bus ride away from the ferry. Upon arrival, we saw a small little community setup, featuring a small mart, restaurants serving fresh seafood, rental sheds for sleeping, and a zipline tower!
We all had a good time, and lots of fun, despite the overcast weather. Thought it was overcast, we all got a lot of sun still... the UV rays come through clouds as if they don't exist. I definitely got a tan that day!
After many hours of alcohol, frisbee tossing, and swimming in the water, pretty much everyone except Marie and I had to go. Marie and I decided last second to stay and rent a little shed to sleep in.
The next day, when the tide pulled out, the mud flats were exposed, so Marie and I ventured out to the tide's edge and had an awesome time! It was such a great experience! I highly recommend everyone to try it! You can walk on the mud very easily, you won't sink in it at all!

Paraguay Ambassador's Trip to Taean and Buyeo
Ceferino Valdez, Ambassador of Paraguay to Korea, loves Korea as much as Koreans do. His business card even has his Korean name, Park Dae-soo. Mr. Valdez has worked in Korea for nearly 14 years, the longest term ever since Paraguay and Korea established diplomatic ties in 1962. What makes Korea so attractive to him? Mr. Valdez says he was impressed by Korea's natural landscape and its dynamic society and people.
Whenever he has time, Mr. Valdez likes to travel around Korea. He says he is happy when he meets people while traveling. The most memorable place for him is Taean. When he just took office in December 2007, he visited Taean to help locals cope with the worst oil spill in Korea's history. Back then he didn't even know where Taean was; he just wanted to lend a helping hand along with some 1.2 million volunteers who did what they could to revive the sea. That was Mr. Valdez's first official duty in Korea. Now, he returns to Taean for the first time in six years. Have the efforts of so many people succeeded in breathing new life into the sea and the land?
Taean is also where Mr. Valdez met a young Korean who used to teach taekwondo in Paraguay as a volunteer. Now he is a P.E. teacher at an elementary school in his hometown of Buyeo. He organizes a trip to Buyeo for Mr. Valdez, who used to teach history back in Paraguay. Will Mr. Valdez's trip to this historic city help him learn about Korea's history and discover another charm?

Hunters from Outwest Farms located in Okeechobee, Florida have posted an image showing a massive, near 15-foot, 780 pound alligator they found and killed. According to CNN, the huge reptile was discovered on Saturday on one of the ponds located on a private ranch owned by Outwest Farms owner Lee Lightsey ... They were surprised when they came across this huge alligator instead ... I hate seeing a beautiful dinosaur like that killed.???? #RIP....
