Jennifer Sandra Carroll (née Johnson; born August 27, 1959) is a Trinidadian-born American politician who was the 18th Lieutenant Governor of the U.S. state of Florida. The first black American and the first woman elected to the position, she assumed the office on January 4, 2011.
She was the first black person elected lieutenant governor of Florida, and the first black person elected to statewide office in Florida since Reconstruction. Carroll previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2003 until 2010. She is the bestselling author of an autobiography, “When You Get There.”
The New York Times reported that Carroll's tenure as lieutenant governor was "marred by scandal and poor judgment" and she was "increasingly viewed as an embarrassment to the man who chose her for the job." She resigned her post as lieutenant governor on March 12, 2013, at the request of Governor Rick Scott. Florida Department of Law Enforcement concluded that she did not break any laws.
Jennifer Carroll (born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American chef and former Top Chef contestant.
Carroll started out studying law at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C, but she decided to leave and attend The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College in Philadelphia. She became a sous chef at both Julia and Café Kati in San Francisco. After returning to her hometown to work in the kitchens of Sonoma and Arroyo Grill, popular eateries in Philadelphia, she then went on to become sous chef at Eric Ripert’s revered Le Bernardin in Manhattan. She was personally selected by Chef Ripert to lead his kitchen as Chef de Cuisine of 10 Arts Bistro & Lounge, located in The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia.
Carroll appeared on reality TV show Top Chef on Bravo during its sixth season and was one of the final four contestants when she was eliminated from the competition. Carroll also competed as a contestant on Top Chef: All Stars in 2010; she was eliminated in the second episode. Carroll was one of the featured participants on the show Life After Top Chef.

Carroll first competed for Canada at the 2001 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, where she finished 18th in the 100 metre backstroke in 1:04.49 and 21st in the 50 metre backstroke in 30.02.
At the 2002 FINA World Swimming Championships (25 m) in Moscow, Carroll won gold in the 50 metre backstroke in a championships record time of 27.38. In the 100 metre backstroke, Carroll finished in 15th posting a time of 29.03 in the semi final.
At the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, Carroll won silver in the 50 metre backstroke in 29.05.
At the 2003 World Championships in Barcelona, Carroll finished 4th in the 50 metre backstroke in 28.65, 15th in the 100 metre backstroke in 1:03.08 and 22nd in the 50 metre butterfly in 28.25.
At the 2005 World Championships in Montreal, Carroll finished 18th in the 50 metre backstroke in 29.55, 34th in the 50 metre freestyle in 26.69 and 34th in the 50 metre butterfly in 28.33.
