CBI arrests two BSNL officials in bribe case
The officials were arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively
CBI has arrested an two BSNL officials in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh for allegedly receiving bribe from a contractor for clearing his bills.
CBI said an Accounts Officer and a Telecom District Manager (TDM), both working in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), were arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively from the complainant.
The spokesperson said a case was registered under sections related to criminal conspiracy of IPC and bribery provisions under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the two.
"The complainant has alleged that his firm was engaged in transportation of materials of Stores of BSNL, Unnao and bills amounting to Rs 4.6 lakhs were pending in the office of TDM, BSNL, Unnao," the spokesperson said.
She said it was further alleged that the Accounts Officer and TDM were demanding bribe of Rs 50,000 which is 20 per cent of the total bill amount for making the payment of pending bills.
CBI laid a trap and caught both the accused while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant.
She said in a separate case in Dehradun, a Senior Accountant posted in the Office of the Accountant General was arrested for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant for rectification of his missing GPF Credit in respect of his GPF account.
