Pakistan Floodings (Dhivehi)

The floods in Pakistan have caused horrific damage to 25% of the country (roughly equal to the size of Italy). Homes, businesses, crops, and lives have been lost. An estimated 1,600 people are dead, 3.5 million children are at high risk from deadly water-borne diseases, and more than 20 million people have lost their homes, their food, and have no sanitation. To put this in perspective, according to the UN, the Pakistan floods have affected more people than the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, and the 2010 Haiti earthquake combined. There were different events carried out by the Maldivain Student Association (SL) in association with Maldivian high commission in SL for the Maldivian Community living in Sri Lanka to raise funds and donate to the people of Pakistan in the name of humanity and brotherhood. A successful one week program started on the 02nd of October 2010 by Commencing of the fund raiser with collecting donations followed by a one day 6 aside football tournament on the 09th. The last event was the Maldivian Fair (Exhibition) & a dinner night invited to all Maldivians living in Sri lanka. Within the week volunteers visited few Maldivian residing houses to collect donations and sold t shirts/ badges. A theme song and a video report was made to aware people and and this is the report.
