Interestingly, the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) won with reduced popular vote than in 2007, but it was able to achieve that victory with an increase in support compared to a decrease of popular votes for the People’s National Party (PNP). Data are showing that the JLP, led by Andrew Holness, increased the total national support for the party by 31,258 votes between the loss in 2011 and victory in 2016....

When the People’s National Party (PNP) lost power to the Bruce Golding-led Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in 2007, I thought that the PNP needed to go back to the philosophies and principles of Norman Washington Manley ... But after the so-called ‘Tivoli invasion”, and the circumstances surrounding it, the JLP lost the 2011 election far more than the PNP won it....
