Police: Man arrested after crime spree in Henry County

A local man is behind bars after, Henry County Police said, he went on a wild crime spree, including armed robberies and setting a car and a nearby house on fire. Officers arrested Daniel Vickery, 47, of Conyers for the crimes Thursday. They said on Saturday shortly after noon he robbed a landscaping crew at gunpoint at a church on Hemphill Road. After taking the group's cell phones and wallets, officers said Vickery got into his minivan and drove to a nearby home. Once there, they said he set the minivan on fire, which led to the house also catching fire. "There was an elderly resident in the house and she had to be pulled to safety but the house was pretty much a total loss," Sgt. Danny Gibbs said. Gibbs with Henry County Police told FOX 5, shortly after that incident, Vickery walked to a nearby house and robbed people of their cell phones and a Toyota Corolla at gunpoint. He was later found in Rockdale County a few days later by deputies. They said Vickery was sleeping in the stolen car outside his friend's house. Gibbs said that friend called police. Vickery remains behind bars with a slew of charges, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, and other offenses. "He was as we would call it, 'on a rampage,' but we were able to catch and arrest him and he won't be robbing anyone else," Gibbs said.
