Zoom (1999 TV series)

Zoom is an American television program for ages eight and up, created almost entirely by children. It originally aired on PBS from January 4, 1999 to December 30, 2005. It was a remake of a 1972 TV series by the same name. Both versions were produced by WGBH-TV in Boston. Reruns were aired until around early 2007. Zoom also aired on Discovery Kids in Canada.

Description

Zoom made a comeback in 1999 in largely the same format, with many of the same games and continued to feature content and ideas submitted by viewers. This second Zoom series ran for seven seasons (1999–2005) and featured 32 Zoomers but was not renewed after the 2005 season due to falling ratings blamed on the increased competition in children's programming.

Zoom Corporation

Zoom is a Japanese audio company that is distributed in the U.S. under the name Zoom North America, in the UK by Zoom UK Distribution Limited, and in Germany by Sound Service GmbH. Zoom produces effects pedals for guitars and basses, recording equipment, and drum machines. The company has become known for producing Handheld recorders, audio for video solutions, inexpensive multi-effects and is building its products around its own microchip designs.

Zoom (2006 film)

Zoom (also known as Zoom: Academy for Superheroes) is a 2006 American family science fiction superhero action-adventure comedy film based upon the children's book Amazing Adventures from Zoom's Academy by Jason Lethcoe. Directed by Peter Hewitt, the film stars Tim Allen, Kate Mara, Spencer Breslin, Michael Cassidy, Kevin Zegers, Courteney Cox Arquette, Chevy Chase, Ryan Newman, and Rip Torn. It was written by Adam Rifkin and David Berenbaum. It was theatrically released on August 8, 2006 by Columbia Pictures. The film received negative reviews from critics, earned $12.5 million on a $35 million budget and was a box office bomb. Zoom was nominated for one Razzie Award, Worst Actor for Tim Allen (also nominated for The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause and The Shaggy Dog), but he lost to Marlon and Shawn Wayans for Little Man. Zoom was released on DVD and Blu-ray on February 13, 2007 by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.

Plot

Decades prior to the start of the film, the American military sponsored a superhero group called "Team Zenith." Its leaders were Jack Shepard, a.k.a. "Captain Zoom", who possessed super-speed, and his older brother, Connor Shepard, a.k.a. "Concussion", who could project sonic blasts. The military tried to increase the team's powers by exposing them to an experimental form of radiation called "Gamma-13". This caused Concussion to become more powerful, but it also turned him evil. Thinking Zoom and the team betrayed him, Concussion went insane and killed his teammates Marksman, Ace, and Daravia. Concussion was believed to be killed by Zoom in an explosion, but he had been sent into another dimension instead. Zoom lost his powers, and his brother.

Mega64

Mega64 is a series of comedy skits centered on video games created by Rocco Botte, Derrick Acosta, and Shawn Chatfield. Originally conceived to be a public-access television show, the original five episodes produced were later released on DVD as Mega64: Version 1 in 2004.

Since then, two further DVDs have been released (in 2006 and 2010 respectively) titled Version 2 and Version 3, with six episodes apiece. In addition to these, another two DVDs have been released, comprising sketches and commercials the production crew has created for various gaming companies and websites, including Ubisoft and IGN. Special editions of both Version 1 and Version 2 were released in 2008 and 2011 respectively.

In addition to video production, the Mega64 team host their own podcast, and are responsible for the Gamedays event at Disneyland, a now annual event started in 2010. The event serves as both a meet and greet for the crew and fans and as a popular event to explore the secrets of Disneyland, of which the Mega64 team are renowned fans.

Born to Die (Lana Del Rey album)

Born to Die is the second studio album and major-label debut by American singer and songwriter Lana Del Rey. It was released on January 27, 2012 by Interscope Records, Polydor Records, and Stranger Records. Del Rey collaborated with producers including Patrik Berger, Jeff Bhasker, Chris Braide, Emile Haynie, Justin Parker, Rick Nowels, Robopop, and Al Shux to achieve her desired sound. Their efforts resulted in a primarily baroque pop record, which sees additional influences from alternative hip hop, indie pop and trip hop music.

Contemporary music critics were divided in their opinions of Born to Die; some commended its distinctive production, while its repetitiveness and melodramatic tendencies were a recurring complaint. The record debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 77,000 copies; it was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after moving one million units. Born to Die reached the peak position on eleven international record charts, and has sold 8.5 million copies worldwide as of May 2015.

Radio (Darius Rucker song)

"Radio" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Darius Rucker. It was released on July 22, 2013 as the third single from his album True Believers. Rucker wrote the song with Luke Laird and Ashley Gorley.

Content

The song is a reflection on the narrator's teenage years: specifically, of borrowing his mother's car to take his girlfriend for a ride, and listening to songs on the radio while doing so.

Critical reception

The song generally received favorable reviews. Bobby Peacock of Roughstock gave the song four and a half stars out of five, saying that "it sounds like the kind of fun song you would want to hear on the radio at a memorable moment." Peacock praised Rucker's "all-smiles delivery" and the song's "incredibly catchy melody and tight production." He also compared its theme to "I Watched It All (On My Radio)" by Lionel Cartwright. Tammy Ragusa of Country Weekly gave the song an A grade, calling it "the perfect marriage of an artist’s effervescent personality with an upbeat song, this one about the love of music." Billy Dukes of Taste of Country gave the song two and a half stars out of five, writing that "the uptempo tribute to young love, open roads and, of course, the radio is familiar and easy to fall for, especially when powered by Rucker’s unequaled exuberance." However, Dukes also called the song "a little fluffy" and "not difficult to forget."

Radio (Robbie Williams song)

"Radio" is a song by British pop singer Robbie Williams. It was the first single from his hits compilation Greatest Hits, released in 2004. The video includes tattooed cheerleaders in masks doing flips, Williams being fawned over as a snake emerges from his trousers, and Williams' eyes morphing into lizard eyes. The song also features robo-type music.

Chart success

"Radio" became Williams' sixth number one single in the UK Singles Chart, selling 41,734 in its first week. To date the song has sold 100,000 copies in the UK. The song also topped the charts in Portugal and Denmark and reached the top ten across Europe and Latin America. In Australia, the single charted at number-twelve and after seven weeks on the charts, the single was certified Gold.

The song was Williams's last UK number-one for eight years until "Candy" took the top spot in November 2012.
