Say thank you to a veteran. To all the men and women of the U.S. military - the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, to those serving Stateside, to those fighting the Taliban and insurgent forces in Afghanistan, to those who face off with the automatons of North Korea 24 hours a day, and to those stationed abroad in Germany, Japan, Afghanistan, and other countries around the world - thank you for your voluntary service and for answering the Call of Duty! The appearance of ISIS and ISIL in Iraq (or as the French call them - daesh ) has once again required the use of force option, by way of airstrikes. U.S. airstrikes, and the airstrikes from other partner nations are sure to last for months! CoD Modern Warfare this is not! Thank you all for your service!

This trip is something special. After completing an exciting YAK-40 rotation from Sofia to Leipzig, and five flights onboard Bakan Bulgarian Airlines AN-24, I decided to do a day's rotation fom Sofia to Oslo, 7 (seven) hours flying paradise on board of an old - a very old - TU-134A, ex Balkan, ex Bulgarian Government. Thursday, June 8, 2000 was a beautiful sunny day and this return flight from Oslo was 43 minutes shorter than the flight to Oslo earlier that day due to strong tailwinds. I still managed to do 1 hour and 48 minutes of video taping. The decision, whether or whether not to delete all the "boring" window scenes was easy. I decided to keep all scenes, everything was simply perfect on this beautiful day. You may skip all scenes, which seem to be irrelevant for your viewing pleasure. However, flying long distance involves fatigue. I would like to present you the inside and inflight feeling of flying a TU-134.
This video covers the full return flight from Oslo back to Sofia onboard Hemus Air TU-134.
Enjoy the Sights & Sounds of "my" Classic Aviation.
Thanks for watching.

Still feeling the fatigue in my bones from my Tupolev marathon two months before, I soon felt the urge to sample more of Bulgaria's exciting yet dwindling classic aviation scene in 2003, sencing that happiness will not last forever and everything will come to an end.
So, once again, I was off to visa-free Bulgaria in July 2003, invited by Hemus Air to complete my series of in-depth studies of Soviet aviation technology, this time, once again onboard the faithful and unique Flying Dandy's only AN-24 flying exclusively on domestic and European routes for Hemus Air.
Six flights onboard AN-24 were on my agenda, beginning with a domestic rotation from Sofia to Varna and back, just to warm up my camera for the next day's rotation to Bratislava and Leipzig.
Everything was well prepared. Camera on, batteries loaded, crew and ground staff informed, approval for staying on board in Varna granted, seat reserved in cabin and in cockpit. There is only one thing, that always remains mysterious and unpredictable besides the weather : The fellow passenger !
On the outbound flight an Arabian passenger in traditional outfit was accompanied by his grand-family, his wife, children and another female. While boaarding, he pushed me and other passengers aside using his hands and ellbows with rude force, climbed on board and claimed the complete front section of the aircraft for himself and his family. The flight could not depart as the other passengers onbaord could not take their assigned seats, because this fellow stood in the aisle, marking his claim and hindered the other passengers with physical force to pass. The Cabin Crew was helpless and only thanks to the help of the Cockpit Crew, the situation could be resolved and we could finally depart with some delay.
This inflight documentary features the first leg from Sofia to Varna with window view from the cabin.
Watch and enjoy with me the Sights & Sounds of Classic Aviation.

This inflight documentary features the third leg on the following day from Leipzig back to Bratislava, filmed from the flight deck.
Watch and enjoy with me the Sights & Sounds of Classic Aviation.

This trip is something special. After completing an exciting YAK-40 rotation from Sofia to Leipzig, and five flights onboard Bakan Bulgarian Airlines AN-24, I decided to do a day's tour from Sofia to Oslo return, 7 (seven) hours flying paradise on board of an old - a very old - TU-134A, ex Balkan, ex Bulgarian Government. Thursday, June 8, 2000 was a beautiful sunny day and this flight to Oslo was a long flight - for TU-134 standards - . Struggling 3.5 hours against strong headwinds claimed its toll on my video tape recording, which turned out to be longer than two hours. The decision, whether or whether not to delete all the "boring" window scenes was easy. I decided to keep all scenes, everything was simply perfect on this beautiful day. You may skip all scenes, which seem to be irrelevant. However, flying long distance involves fatigue. I would like to present you the inside and inflight feeling of flying a TU-134 for more than three hours, (almost) uncut. This is my "Uncut Special" for you, the esteemed viewer.
This one hour video covers the first part of two of this wonderful experience onboard Hemus Air TU-134.
Enjoy the Sights & Sounds of "my" Classic Aviation.
Thanks for watching.

This video features a cargo flight onboard Malev Hungarian Airlines operated by Balkan Bulgarian Airlines IL-18 in November 1998 from Budapest to Algiers carrying live stock of one day old chicks. This time the camera was perfect.
Added bonus : Engine startup and taxying with open doors to compensate the missing ventilation on the ground providing fresh air and to prevent massive overheating of the cabin due to the emerging body heat from the live stock.
The ultimate filming challenge :
Bending over the boxes with the live stock in standing position and holding the camera with stretched arms towards the window without being able to check the output through the monitor. It was very painful.
The contaminated windows were beyond description. Depending on humidity it was from time to time impossible to do reasonable filming. In this sense, the IL-18 is one of the most difficult planes to produce a video.
Due to Civil War in Algeria, the country and especially its airports were under strict military control. Taking picturers was extremely dangerous and beared the risk of arrest and containment, as happened to me a year earlier in Constantine, Algeria. So, I needed to do the filming strictly "under cover".
Last but not least, there was a problem with hydraulic pressure as we approached Algiers and I was advised to return to the rear cabin in the back. I refused and continued taping the engine sound the best I could...
Alltogether, exactly t h i s is the challenge of Classic Aviation and this makes it so special.
Enjoy with me the Sights & Sounds of Classic Aviation.
