Contribuyó de manera decisiva a la independencia de las actuales Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panamá, Perú y Venezuela.
En 1813 le fue concedido el título honorífico de Libertador por el Cabildo de Mérida en Venezuela que, tras serle ratificado en Caracas ese mismo año, quedó asociado a su nombre. Los problemas para llevar adelante sus planes fueron tan frecuentes que llegó a afirmar de sí mismo que era "el hombre de las dificultades" en una carta dirigida al general Francisco de Paula Santander en 1825.
Participó en la fundación de la Gran Colombia, nación que intentó consolidar como una gran confederación política y militar en América, de la cual fue Presidente. Bolívar es considerado por sus acciones e ideas el "Hombre de América" y una destacada figura de la Historia Universal, ya que dejó un legado político en diversos países latinoamericanos, algunos de los cuales le han convertido en objeto de veneración nacionalista. Ha recibido honores en varias partes del mundo a través de estatuas o monumentos, parques, plazas, etc. Así mismo, sus ideas y posturas política-sociales dieron origen a una corriente o postura llamada Bolivarianismo.

Bolívar recorrió 123 mil kilómetros, más que lo que hicieron Colón y Vasco de Gama juntos.
Fue Presidente de la República de cinco países (seis, actualmente).

Venezuela está en guerra. El país se encuentra dividido en dos mitades. Hay familias enteras desgajadas en bandos opuestos.
Corre el año de 1815 y la Segunda República cae estrepitosamente. El gran derrotado es Simón Bolívar, recién nombrado Libertador, quien sale fugitivo desde Cartagena, con la muerte pisándole los talones.
Bolívar llega a Jamaica en medio de las peores dificultades, sin dinero ni amigos. Busca ayuda de otras naciones para liberar a América. Europa le cierra las puertas. El presidente de la rebelde Haití acepta recibirlo y escuchar sus propuestas. Esta noticia le devuelve el ánimo. Lo que ignora es que ya en la isla está listo un complot para asesinarlo. La conjura falla, pero Bolívar se va hacia Haití muy abatido.
En Haití los problemas no cesan. Allá llegan los patriotas venezolanos que huyen de la caída Cartagena, dispuestos a bajar del pedestal de jefe al Libertador. En medio de una acalorada asamblea, Bolívar propone liberar a los esclavos para escándalo de muchos, pero será esta propuesta la que cambie los vientos de victoria a su favor.
Bolívar zarpa de Haití como comandante de una pequeña pero valiente flota, dispuesta a dar la vida por sus ideales. Se inicia una nueva batalla de las muchas que librará el Hombre de las Dificultades por llevar la libertad a la América hispana.
Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades, es una producción de la Villa del Cine, Alter Producciones Audiovisuales y el Instituto de Arte e Industria de Cuba, en coproducción con Wanda Films de España Lusa Films y TVE. Todos ellos se unieron, en el marco de la "Colección Libertadores", para retratar el año del destierro caribeño de Simón Bolívar. Una historia poco conocida que cuenta uno de los años más dramáticos en la vida de El Libertador, desde mayo 1815 a mayo 1816, en toda su dimensión humana.
"Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades", fue realizada por un equipo de más de 200 personas desplegado en Argentina, España, Cuba, Antigua, Guadalupe, Estados Unidos y Venezuela. Contó con 3000 extras y un elenco de grandes figuras: Roque Valero, Jorge Reyes, Beatriz Valdés, Paula Woyzechowsky, Robny Piñango, Gilbert Laumord, Camila Arteche, Juvel Vielma, Alberto Alifa, Rafael Gil, Daniel Rodríguez y Samantha Dagnino.
"Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades", conjuga drama, romance y aventura en una película dirigida por Luis Alberto Lamata, cineasta responsable de contar los más interesantes capítulos de la historia de Venezuela en la gran pantalla.

José de San Martín viajó al Río de la Plata y de ahí se desplazó por Sud América para cumplir una misión que le había confiado Gran Bretaña, de la que era agente.

Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios Ponte y Blanco (July 24, 1783 – December 17, 1830), commonly known as Simón Bolívar (Spanish pronunciation: [siˈmom boˈliβar]), was a Venezuelan military and political leader. Together with José de San Martín, he played a key role in Hispanic-Spanish America's successful struggle for independence from the Spanish Empire, and is today considered one of the most influential politicians in American history.
Following the triumph over the Spanish Monarchy, Bolívar participated in the foundation of the first union of independent nations in Hispanic-America, a republic, which was named Gran Colombia, of which he was president from 1819 to 1830. Bolívar remains regarded in Hispanic-America as a hero, visionary, revolutionary, and liberator. During his lifetime, he led Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia to independence, and helped lay the foundations for democratic ideology in much of Latin America.
The surname Bolívar derives from the Bolívar aristocrats who came from a small village in the Basque Country, Spain, called La Puebla de Bolívar. His father came from the male line of the de Ardanza family. His maternal grandmother, however, was descended from some families from the Canary Islands that settled in the country.

En 1813 le fue concedido el título honorífico de Libertador por el Cabildo de Mérida en Venezuela que, tras serle ratificado en Caracas ese mismo año, quedó asociado a su nombre. Los problemas para llevar adelante sus planes fueron tan frecuentes que llegó a afirmar de sí mismo que era "el hombre de las dificultades" en una carta dirigida al general Francisco de Paula Santander en 1825.
Participó en la fundación de la Gran Colombia, nación que intentó consolidar como una gran confederación política y militar en América, de la cual fue Presidente. Bolívar es considerado por sus acciones e ideas el "Hombre de América" y una destacada figura de la Historia Universal, ya que dejó un legado político en diversos países latinoamericanos, algunos de los cuales le han convertido en objeto de veneración nacionalista. Ha recibido honores en varias partes del mundo a través de estatuas o monumentos, parques, plazas, etc. Así mismo, sus ideas y posturas política-sociales dieron origen a una corriente o postura llamada Bolivarianismo.

Bolívar recorrió 123 mil kilómetros, más que lo que hicieron Colón y Vasco de Gama juntos.
Fue Presidente de la República de cinco países (seis, actualmente).
Llevó la antorcha de la Libertad a la distancia de 65.000 kilómetros, vuelta y media a la Tierra.

Contribuyó de manera decisiva a la independencia de las actuales Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Panamá, Perú y Venezuela.
En 1813 le fue concedido el título honorífico de Libertador por el Cabildo de Mérida en Venezuela que, tras serle ratificado en Caracas ese mismo año, quedó asociado a su nombre. Los problemas para llevar adelante sus planes fueron tan frecuentes que llegó a afirmar de sí mismo que era "el hombre de las dificultades" en una carta dirigida al general Francisco de Paula Santander en 1825.
Participó en la fundación de la Gran Colombia, nación que intentó consolidar como una gran confederación política y militar en América, de la cual fue Presidente. Bolívar es considerado por sus acciones e ideas el "Hombre de América" y una destacada figura de la Historia Universal, ya que dejó un legado político en diversos países latinoamericanos, algunos de los cuales le han convertido en objeto de veneración nacionalista. Ha recibido honores en varias partes del mundo a través de estatuas o monumentos, parques, plazas, etc. Así mismo, sus ideas y posturas política-sociales dieron origen a una corriente o postura llamada Bolivarianismo.

Bolívar recorrió 123 mil kilómetros, más que lo que hicieron Colón y Vasco de Gama juntos.
Fue Presidente de la República de cinco países (seis, actualmente).
Llevó la antorcha de la Libertad a la distancia de 65.000 kilómetros, vuelta y media a la Tierra.

Corre el año de 1815 y la Segunda República cae estrepitosamente. El gran derrotado es Simón Bolívar, recién nombrado Libertador, quien sale fugitivo desde Cartagena, con la muerte pisándole los talones.
Bolívar llega a Jamaica en medio de las peores dificultades, sin dinero ni amigos. Busca ayuda de otras naciones para liberar a América. Europa le cierra las puertas. El presidente de la rebelde Haití acepta recibirlo y escuchar sus propuestas. Esta noticia le devuelve el ánimo. Lo que ignora es que ya en la isla está listo un complot para asesinarlo. La conjura falla, pero Bolívar se va hacia Haití muy abatido.
En Haití los problemas no cesan. Allá llegan los patriotas venezolanos que huyen de la caída Cartagena, dispuestos a bajar del pedestal de jefe al Libertador. En medio de una acalorada asamblea, Bolívar propone liberar a los esclavos para escándalo de muchos, pero será esta propuesta la que cambie los vientos de victoria a su favor.
Bolívar zarpa de Haití como comandante de una pequeña pero valiente flota, dispuesta a dar la vida por sus ideales. Se inicia una nueva batalla de las muchas que librará el Hombre de las Dificultades por llevar la libertad a la América hispana.
Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades, es una producción de la Villa del Cine, Alter Producciones Audiovisuales y el Instituto de Arte e Industria de Cuba, en coproducción con Wanda Films de España Lusa Films y TVE. Todos ellos se unieron, en el marco de la "Colección Libertadores", para retratar el año del destierro caribeño de Simón Bolívar. Una historia poco conocida que cuenta uno de los años más dramáticos en la vida de El Libertador, desde mayo 1815 a mayo 1816, en toda su dimensión humana.
"Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades", fue realizada por un equipo de más de 200 personas desplegado en Argentina, España, Cuba, Antigua, Guadalupe, Estados Unidos y Venezuela. Contó con 3000 extras y un elenco de grandes figuras: Roque Valero, Jorge Reyes, Beatriz Valdés, Paula Woyzechowsky, Robny Piñango, Gilbert Laumord, Camila Arteche, Juvel Vielma, Alberto Alifa, Rafael Gil, Daniel Rodríguez y Samantha Dagnino.
"Bolívar, el hombre de las dificultades", conjuga drama, romance y aventura en una película dirigida por Luis Alberto Lamata, cineasta responsable de contar los más interesantes capítulos de la historia de Venezuela en la gran pantalla.

Interview with Gustavo Dudamel about El Sistema.
As principal conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony, Dudamel opened the door to starting up the renowned Venezuelan musical education programme El Sistema in Sweden. The world-famous conductor is the product of El Sistema in Venezuela, where he was music director of the Simón Bolívar national youth orchestra in Caracas. His message is that music must reach out to all citizens, to all children, as a basic human right. Music makes us grow as human beings.
With Gustavo Dudamel at the forefront, El Sistema in Sweden adopted the Venezuelan model of training orchestras and choirs: music as a tool for building community. In 2007 Dudamel became the principal conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony; in 2009 he became music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic; and in 2010 he was named Gothenburger of the year. Today Dudamel is an honorary conductor of the Gothenburg Symphony.
The interview with Dudamel was shot in the conductor's office at the Gothenburg Concert Hall. It is part of a series of film shorts about El Sistema by Sergio Joselovsky, with funding from the Cultural Affairs Secretariat of the Västra Götaland Region, the Angered School of Culture, the Gothenburg Symphony and El Sistema Gothenburg. Gathering 600 musicians on stage at the same time, it's understandable why Mahler's Eighth symphony is also known as the 'Symphony of a Thousand'.
The Venezuelan Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra opened a series of concerts at the world famous Salzburg festival with one of the composer's most impressive works.
At the conductors' stand they were led by the maestro, Gustavo Dudamel, who was thrilled to work with so many performers at once:
"For a conductor it's a unique opportunity to have this amount of people there playing this amazing music, trusting in you that you will guide them in the right way. It's a magic moment."
The orchestra is celebrated worldwide for its unique sound. The classical repertoire, evoking Mahler himself, is played with fiery temperament. The reason, as Dudamel explains, is the blend of European and South American influence:
"We have learned a lot of the European culture because it's natural when you do this classical music. But we create it our own way."
The orchestra is part of 'El Sistema' - the legendary music education scheme where children learn instruments for free in order to keep them off the streets.
Almost 400,000 young people are currently involved in the project and many of them live below the poverty line. Only the finest musicians, however, make it to the Simón Bolívar Orchestra, the program's flagship band.
Most of the members have played together for nearly two decades, creating a strong bond between the orchestra and Dudamel, their 32-year old conductor. As he explains:
"We are brothers and sisters. For me some of them are my children. The orchestra also has a special charisma. You feel the human connection that is unique because in the different orchestras you come from a conservatory, or from a different country but the Simón Bolívar is different. We are coming from the same school, from the same teachers, with exactly the same technique. Putting that together with the human connection and the love and the passion we have created this kind of earthquake. And I'm just one more. I'm part of the group. We are one. We became one body."

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the Medina attack or two other attacks in the kingdom on the same day — one near the U.S. Consulate in Jiddah and the other at a Shiite mosque in the east of the country. The bomber has been identified as 34-year-old Abdullah Qalzar Khan, an Interior Ministry statement said. He lived in the nearby Red Sea port city of Jiddah with “his wife and her parents.” The statement didn’t elaborate....
