Back to the Floor is a corporate reality show that began as a regular feature on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's show Venture.
Chief Executive Officers and a low level employee change jobs for a week. Process management is usually reported as benefitting from the direct attention of the CEO, and professional development of the lower level employee is also facilitated, as they discover whether they feel fit to take leadership or not.
Back to the Floor is a reality television series broadcast on BBC2 in the late 1990s and early 2000s in which CEOs or top level managers went undercover in their organisations and took a junior/entry level job in their company. This gave them much to think about during the exercise and learn how their company really works, what the industry is like, and what their employees really think of them.
It won "Best Feature" at the British Academy Television Awards 1999.
i had never seen the snow
never sailed upon the seas
i was busy making plans
to build a fortress in the trees
i'd ride my bicycle
down the lane and back again
taking me to the birds
and my imaginary friends
and i'd want to run away
go as far as i could see
but i'd always turn around
to find familiarity
right where it should be
i'll be gone running on the mile
i am moving on
i do not know where i will go
but i'm beckoned by the sky
in the river down below
i've only got one pair of shoes
comforting these weary feet
cos a man who owns too much
is like a song without a beat
left feeling incomplete
