I go on with medieval stories, and as some of you liked the ASMR video about the Knights Templar, I come back with the Teutonic Knights this time.

In episode 15 of my "Break the Meta" series for Age of Empires 2 I analyzed a situation in which Teutonic Knights were actually an extremely powerful unit. While the Teutonic Knight boasts great combat stats, its poor speed makes it incredibly weak to most ranged units. However, Teutonic Knights do have their uses and they can be an effective trump card if you bait your opponent into making the right units.

In this match I played as the Teutons on the map Fortress in a 3v5 between me and the viewers. For fun I decided to go for mass Teutonic Knights, in which I made basically nothing but Teutonic Knights toward the end of the match. Initially I started the match with a Knight Rush though so that I could stockpile the resources that I needed. Teutonic Knights are extremely effective against "trash units," which are units that do not cost gold (Skirmishers, Light Cavalry, Pikemen). They are also quite strong against really most melee units and can be incredibly difficult to kill without the use of ranged units. My Teutonic Knights were very effective because my opponents did not have many ranged units besides Skirmishers until the end of the game. Teutonic Knights are actually extremely easy to counter with really anything ranged, like Hand Cannoneers, Archers, Scorpions, etc. Without ranged units, Teutonic Knights are nearly unstoppable. *But they are very stoppable with the help of really any non-Skirmisher ranged units haha.

By 1191, Sibrand had become the first Grand Master of the newly-founded Knights Teutonic. Having obtained this position of great power, Sibrand was desperate to remain in charge, and would do anything to prevent his power from slipping away. As he was incapable of securing his position, Sibrand became plagued by paranoia of conspiracies and plots against him, so much so that he unnecessarily doubled the patrols, and even threatened to pull knights from battle to protect him. He remained consistently vigilant, searching for signs of trouble. He took control of the docks in the city of Acre, where he also acquired the services of many ships. He planned to use these vessels to form a blockade that would prevent the "fool" kings and queens from sending aid once the Templars initiated their plan to usurp control of the Holy Land. Sibrand joined the Templars around this time, and was one of the men that guarded the Apple of Eden's secrets and capabilities.
Having locked himself away in Acre's docks, Sibrand waited to perform his role in the "liberation" of the Holy Land. He patrolled the district, scolding two guards he came across, and threatening to double their shifts if they would not get back to their posts. Unknown to him, the Assassin Altaïr eavesdropped on him, to prepare for his assassination. Sibrand then moved to the docks themselves and, remembering the white-robed Assassin that had been hunting his brothers, began to publicly abuse and torment a scholar, who was clothed similarly to the Assassins. After taunting and eventually killing the scholar, Sibrand warned the citizens not to aid the Assassins. Sibrand then donned his horned helmet, and set off for his personal ship, unaware that Altaïr was navigating his way through the docks and towards him.
In his manic refusal to be killed, the Templar began wildly firing arrows in every direction, all the while shouting loudly that he would take care of the Assassins himself if no one else would. Altaïr stealthily climbed aboard the ship as he did, and put an end to Sibrand's life. With his last breath, Sibrand explained the role assigned to him by the Brotherhood, and claimed that he had proof that nothing waited for him after his life. Having told the Assassin all he knew, Sibrand perished...

The Order of Brothers of the German House of Saint Mary in Jerusalem (Official names: Latin: Ordo domus Sanctæ Mariæ Theutonicorum Hierosolymitanorum, German: Orden der Brüder vom Deutschen Haus St. Mariens in Jerusalem), commonly the Teutonic Order (Today: German Order = Deutscher Orden, also Deutschherren- or Deutschritterorden), is a German medieval military order, and in modern times a purely religious Catholic order. It was formed to aid Christians on their pilgrimages to the Holy Land and to establish hospitals. Its members have commonly been known as the Teutonic Knights, since they also served as a crusading military order in the Middle Ages. The military membership was always small, with volunteers and mercenaries augmenting the force as needed. After the Reformation, the Bailiwick of Utrecht of the Order became Protestant; this branch still consists of knights, but the modern Roman Catholic order consists of Roman Catholic priests, nuns, and associates.
Formed at the end of the 12th century in Acre, in the Levant, the medieval Order played an important role in Outremer, controlling the port tolls of Acre. After Christian forces were defeated in the Middle East, the Order moved to Transylvania in 1211 to help defend Hungary against the Kipchaks. The Knights were expelled in 1225, after allegedly attempting to place themselves under Papal instead of Hungarian sovereignty.

Aoe2 Break the Meta #15: Mass Teutonic Knights
In episode 15 of my "Break the Meta" series for Age of Empires 2 I analyzed a situation in which Teutonic Knights were actually an extremely powerful unit. While the Teutonic Knight boasts great combat stats, its poor speed makes it incredibly weak to most ranged units. Aoe2 HD: Fortress (Mass Teutonic Knights, An *Unstoppable Army)
In this match I played as the Teutons on the map Fortress in a 3v5 between me and the viewers. For fun I decided to go for mass Teutonic Knights, in which I made basically nothing but Teutonic Knights toward the end of the match. Initially I started the match with a Knight Rush though so that I could stockpile the resources that I needed. Teutonic Knights are extremely effective against "trash units," which are units that do not cost gold (Skirmishers, Light Cavalry, Pikemen). They are also quite strong against really most melee units and can be incredibly difficult to kill without the use of ranged units. By 1191, Sibrand had become the first Grand Master of the newly-founded Knights Teutonic. Having obtained this position of great power, Sibrand was desperate to remain in charge, and would do anything to prevent his power from slipping away. As he was incapable of securing his position, Sibrand became plagued by paranoia of conspiracies and plots against him, so much so that he unnecessarily doubled the patrols, and even threatened to pull knights from battle to protect him. In this match I played as the Teutons on the map Fortress in a 3v5 between me and the viewers. For fun I decided to go for mass Teutonic Knights, in which I made basically nothing but Teutonic Knights toward the end of the match. Initially I started the match with a Knight Rush though so that I could stockpile the resources that I needed. Teutonic Knights are extremely effective against "trash units," which are units that do not cost gold (Skirmishers, Light Cavalry, Pikemen). They are also quite strong against really most melee units and can be incredibly difficult to kill without the use of ranged units. My Teutonic Knights were very effective because my opponents did not have many ranged units besides Skirmishers until the end of the game. Teutonic Knights are actually extremely easy to counter with really anything ranged, like Hand Cannoneers, Archers, Scorpions, etc. Without ranged units, Teutonic Knights are nearly unstoppable. *But they are very stoppable with the help of really any non-Skirmisher ranged units haha.

By 1191, Sibrand had become the first Grand Master of the newly-founded Knights Teutonic. Having obtained this position of great power, Sibrand was desperate to remain in charge, and would do anything to prevent his power from slipping away. As he was incapable of securing his position, Sibrand became plagued by paranoia of conspiracies and plots against him, so much so that he unnecessarily doubled the patrols, and even threatened to pull knights from battle to protect him. He remained consistently vigilant, searching for signs of trouble. He took control of the docks in the city of Acre, where he also acquired the services of many ships. He planned to use these vessels to form a blockade that would prevent the "fool" kings and queens from sending aid once the Templars initiated their plan to usurp control of the Holy Land. Sibrand joined the Templars around this time, and was one of the men that guarded the Apple of Eden's secrets and capabilities.
Having locked himself away in Acre's docks, Sibrand waited to perform his role in the "liberation" of the Holy Land. He patrolled the district, scolding two guards he came across, and threatening to double their shifts if they would not get back to their posts. Unknown to him, the Assassin Altaïr eavesdropped on him, to prepare for his assassination. Sibrand then moved to the docks themselves and, remembering the white-robed Assassin that had been hunting his brothers, began to publicly abuse and torment a scholar, who was clothed similarly to the Assassins. After taunting and eventually killing the scholar, Sibrand warned the citizens not to aid the Assassins. By 1191, Sibrand had become the first Grand Master of the newly-founded Knights Teutonic. Having obtained this position of great power, Sibrand was desperate to remain in charge, and would do anything to prevent his power from slipping away. As he was incapable of securing his position, Sibrand became plagued by paranoia of conspiracies and plots against him, so much so that he unnecessarily doubled the patrols, and even threatened to pull knights from battle to protect him. He remained consistently vigilant, searching for signs of trouble. He took control of the docks in the city of Acre, where he also acquired the services of many ships. He planned to use these vessels to form a blockade that would prevent the "fool" kings and queens from sending aid once the Templars initiated their plan to usurp control of the Holy Land. Sibrand joined the Templars around this time, and was one of the men that guarded the Apple of Eden's secrets and capabilities.
Having locked himself away in Acre's docks, Sibrand waited to perform his role in the "liberation" of the Holy Land. He patrolled the district, scolding two guards he came across, and threatening to double their shifts if they would not get back to their posts. Unknown to him, the Assassin Altaïr eavesdropped on him, to prepare for his assassination. Sibrand then moved to the docks themselves and, remembering the white-robed Assassin that had been hunting his brothers, began to publicly abuse and torment a scholar, who was clothed similarly to the Assassins. After taunting and eventually killing the scholar, Sibrand warned the citizens not to aid the Assassins.
