The Atlantic Road zigzags across bridges and rock-fills from island to island right out at the ocean's edge. It is easy to park your car in one of the many lay-bys and walk a few metres to the smooth coastal rocks and some excellent fishing spots. A stone's throw or two to the west the shipping lane crosses the notorious waters of Hustadvika, concealing innumerable wrecks. Many people take a trip out here when the autumn storms start to rage - it is quite a sight when the big waves break beside (and sometimes across) the road. The road workers experienced 12 hurricanes during the construction of the Atlantic Road before it was opened in 1989. Around 1900 as many as 120 people lived on these windswept islands. They made their living from fishing and drying fish.

This most recent 6.5M (now downgraded to a 6.2M) earthquake in the north Arctic -- east of Greenland --- Mid-Atlantic ridge --- Norwegian sea..... shows the movement picking up in pace.
Italy, Bulgaria, and south of Australia --- all areas we don't see too much earthquake activity..... plus add in the swarming of earthquakes NORTH of coast of Honsu (Hokkaido)... and add in the earthquake activity in South/Central America ---- we are on a heightened earthquake alert yet once again.
This seems to happen in cycles every month or so recently.... so be prepared for additional 6.0M to 8.0M earthquakes in the near future (two weeks or less around the ring of fire areas prone already ---- Japan, Baja, Oaxaca Mexico, off the coast of Oregeon... along the edge of the north American craton ---- too many areas to name almost.
Point being, we should all have a plan to be prepared in the eventuality of an earthquake occurring... even east coast USA and midwest USA --- as well as central south Europe still.

Welcome to Oslo, the capital city of Norway.
Centuries ago, Viking longships prowled the waters around Norway. Some of those longships survived the ensuing years and found their way to the Viking Ship Museum, which is a must-see on any Oslo tour. The three longships on display here have been recovered from various parts of the country, and the museum also contains a number of artifacts from the Viking Age. Norway’s rich connection to the sea did not stop with the Vikings, though; just over a mile away from the Viking Ship Museum are several other educational complexes dedicated to the salt water that flows through Oslo’s veins. Visit the Norwegian Maritime Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum, and the Fram Museum to get a fuller idea of Oslo’s seaborne heritage.
While in town, stop by the Nobel Peace Center—yes, this is the very location where the Nobel Peace Prize is awarded. The center itself showcases winners of the award, and highlights their impact on the world at large. After spending an afternoon wandering the center, prepare yourself for an evening of extraordinary live performances, as the Oslo Opera House is just a short walk away. This majestic building, with its sloping roofs and massive wall of windows, has been compared to an iceberg in appearance. Besides being a popular performing arts venue, it’s also a popular place for locals to meet before heading out into town.
If you plan your Oslo sightseeing during the summer, prepare yourself for long days of endless sunshine. Oslo’s position in the northern hemisphere ensures that the sun does not set until after 11 o’clock at night during the warm season. Who said you couldn’t get more hours in the day?

Travel video about destination Lofoten in Norway.
The Lofotes, the Vikings who built a base here in the ninth century, called these islands in the extreme north of Europe, The Islands Of The Gods. Reminiscent of the Alps, this group of islands just off the beautiful Norwegian coast, is located between one hundred and three hundred kilometres north of the Polar Circle. The origins of the primeval Lofotes date back to the beginning of the earth's history and are more than three and a half million years old.The Vestfjord played a vital part in the settlement of the islands. Since the third century B.C. the settlers here survived by farming the land and breeding animals, and fishing also played an important role. As the cod of the Polar Sea migrate each year in late winter to the Vestfjord to spawn, an increasing number of fishing families now live in this area. Rocks, sandy beaches, meadows and swamps form a truly unified landscape. It is therefore hardly surprising that the landscape of the Lofotes is now so popular with the various artists who come to this region.

Travel video about destination Hurtigruten in Norway.
We begin one of the most beautiful sea journeys in the world in Bergen, an ancient seaport and trading town where we will be passengers on Norway’s,‘Hurtigruten’. The Bryggen district was once founded by the German Hanse and is one of Bergen’s most famous landmarks. The picturesque houses that once belonged to German traders make the charming historical district look more like an open air museum. The Ms Nordnorge is one of a new generation of ships that belong to the famous Hurtigruten Fleet and can take seven hundred passengers. At the mouth of the Nidelv in the Trondheimsfjord is the third largest city in Norway, Trondheim, an important trading and administrative centre. At the beginning of the thirteenth century Trondheim was a city of great influence and was also where the Norwegian kings of mediaeval times were crowned and although it gradually lost its political importance it still contains several fascinating buildings. From Trondheim the ship travels the century-old historic route north into Norway’s most remote regions. Four and a half hours from Bodø and we arrive at the Lofoten, a fairy-tale group of islands in the North Atlantic. When the weather is fine we relax on deck, take in the fresh sea air and sunbathe while the ship glides through the water. A round trip through the historic town of Kirkenes marks the end of a wonderful journey through the fjords and coastal towns in the north of Norway.

norwegian nature "The Atlantic Ocean Road or the Atlantic Road (Norwegian: Atlanterhavsveien) is a 8.3-kilometer (5.2 mi) long section of County Road 64 which runs through an archipelago in Eide and Averøy in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. The fixed link passes by Hustadvika, an unsheltered part of the Norwegian Sea, connecting the island of Averøy with the mainland and Romsdalshalvøya peninsula. The road runs between the villages of Kårvåg on Averøy and Vevang in Eida. The road is built on several small islands and skerries, which are connected by several causeways, viaducts and eight bridges—the most prominent being Storseisundet Bridge."

Tourist Attractions in Kristiansand, Norway - Things to see & do in Kristiansand, Norway
Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube
Kristiansand is the capital of Vest-Agder County, Norway. By population, it is the fifth largest city of Norway. The city is sometimes called Kristiansand S, where S stands for South, to distinguish it from Kristiansund in western Norway.

Why Cruise to Europe ?
================
Europe beckons with glorious history, fabled cities and spellbinding beauty. In the shadows of epic monuments, you will discover storybook towns hidden behind medieval walls, timeless gems and a taste of la dolce vita. Cruise to Europe's most enchanting ports of call and discover with Princess the lands of legends and kings.
Mediterranean & Greek Isles Cruises
==============================
Explore Rome and Athens, where two great civilizations sprang forth. Take a gondola through the canals of magical Venice, or soak in the spectacular views of whitewashed villages and ancient windmills from a seaside café on the isle of Mykonos. Relive the Renaissance in Florence, stroll the storied ruins of Ephesus, or visit the magnificent shrines of Istanbul. Cruises to the Mediterranean & Greek Isles will captivate you with timeless beauty.
Scandinavia, Russia & Norwegian Fjords Cruises
=====================================
Venture deep into the Land of the Midnight Sun, where Vikings ruled the Baltic Sea more than 10,000 years ago. Now, well-preserved medieval "Old Town" districts await your discovery in Stockholm and Tallinn and a little mermaid greets you in Copenhagen. The grand living museum of St. Petersburg, Russia, boasts artistic and cultural treasures, while the stunning Norwegian Fjords offer towering cliffs and spectacular waterfalls.
British Isles, Iceland & Northern Europe Cruises
======================================
Enter lands where fairy-tale castles inspired Shakespeare, where the Lads from Liverpool launched a British invasion and where the elusive Nessie calls home. Experience the heart of Scotland at Edinburgh's famed castle, or join friendly locals for a pint at a pub in Dublin. Venture to stunning Godafoss Falls and Iceland's geothermal wonders, or visit the attractions of Paris and the historic shores of Normandy on a cruise to Northern Europe..
Cruises to Antarctica
==================
Looking for the ultimate cruise adventure? The White Continent is truly the trip of a lifetime. Whether you cross the Drake Passage in a small expedition ship or do a "sail by" on a larger vessel, this magical voyage will not only impress your friends, the otherworldly scenery will touch your soul.
Antarctica is full of superlatives and extremes. And because you can reach the continent only via a ship, getting there is almost like taking a regular cruise vacation.
Almost ... because this place is unique on the planet, and your adventure at sea will be unlike any other you've had.
Before you even get to the continent, you'll spend more than 24 hours grabbing for handrails or the top of the mattress as your ship crosses the Drake Passage, perhaps the world's roughest body of water. Instead of sailing a mega-ship featuring a casino, multiple dining choices and professional entertainment, you'll wend through icy waters on a vessel more like Hurtigruten's Fram: 318 passengers, compact cabins and an emphasis on lecture space and observation areas.
In the summer -- tourism's high season -- the temperature along the favored landing spots is usually around freezing, but the wind chill can easily hit 60 degrees below freezing.
The continent is sizable: if you placed the United States atop Antarctica, there would be about 1.5 million square miles not covered. But, while more than 311 million people live in the U.S., no one lives on Antarctica permanently. Its only residents are scientists and support staff staying temporarily at tiny outposts. That means you won't be going ashore to enjoy any cultural heritage, regional foods, traditional handicrafts or quaint villages. (Though your ship might drop you off at the ruins of old whaling stations.)
Antarctica does not have any significant vegetation because most of the land is covered by ice as much as two miles thick. Nor does the continent have indigenous wildlife. Rather, it has only marine animals like seals, penguins and other seabirds that come ashore to breed.
However, once you're on shore, you'll be astonished by the endless panoramas of mountains and glaciers marching to the sea, and you'll be entranced by rookeries of penguins or the occasional seal sunning along the coast.
