Erdington is a suburb of Birmingham that is historically part of Warwickshire. It is 5 miles (8 km) northeast of central Birmingham, England and bordering Sutton Coldfield. It is also a council constituency, managed by its own district committee. The formal council constituency the smaller ward of Erdington, and the wards of Tyburn, (formerly Kingsbury), Stockland Green and Kingstanding, although all of Kingstanding and most of both Tyburn and Stockland Green wards lie outside the historical boundaries of Erdington.
Erdington had its own manor house, Erdington Hall, which was protected on three sides by a double moat and on the fourth by the River Tame. It had developed from a small fortified homestead constructed by an Anglo-Saxon named Eardwulf in the area of Bromford. Demolished in the 17th century, it stood on a hill at the junction of what are now Wheelwright Road and Tyburn Road. The double moat was drained in the 18th century by Sir Charles Holte. Until 1912 another building stood, but this was demolished for the construction of the Tyburn Road, though a small section remained until World War I.

April 13th 2011, Birmingham UK. My father and I start our long road trip down to Trieste, Italy. We will cross 7 countries: England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria and finally Italy. We split the trip into two days, the first driving on the more direct routes with a stop for the overnight in Germany, just south of Frankfurt, the second part we decided to take a new and more scenic route crossing the Alps into Italy. The video is accelerated and I apologise for the low quality.. but hope you enjoy it and that it may give you a little feel of the wonderful time I spent with my father on the road.
