Bradford (
i/ˈbrædfəd/) lies at the heart of the City of Bradford, a metropolitan borough of West Yorkshire, in Northern England. It is situated in the foothills of the Pennines, 8.6 miles (13.8 km) west of Leeds, and 16 miles (25.7 km) northwest of Wakefield. Bradford became a municipal borough in 1847, and received its charter as a city in 1897. Following local government reform in 1974, city status was bestowed upon the wider metropolitan borough.
Bradford has a population of 293,717, making it the fourteenth-most populous settlement in the United Kingdom. Bradford forms part of the West Yorkshire Urban Area conurbation which in 2001 had a population of 1.5 million and is part of the Leeds-Bradford Larger Urban Zone (LUZ), the third largest in the UK after London and Manchester, with an estimated population in the 2004 Urban Audit of 2.4 million.
Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Bradford rose to prominence during the 19th century as an international centre of textile manufacture, particularly wool. It was a boomtown of the Industrial Revolution, and amongst the earliest industrialised settlements, rapidly becoming the "wool capital of the world". The area's access to a supply of coal, iron ore and soft water facilitated the growth of Bradford's manufacturing base, which, as textile manufacture grew, led to an explosion in population and was a stimulus to civic investment; Bradford has fine Victorian architecture including the grand Italianate City Hall.

Bingley is a market town in the metropolitan borough of the City of Bradford, in West Yorkshire, England. It is situated on the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The town has a population of 19,884 according to the 2001 Census.
Local travel links include Bingley railway station in the town centre and Leeds Bradford International Airport, which is located 7 miles (11 km) from the city centre. The B6265 (Main Street), connecting Bingley to Keighley, runs through the town centre.
Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Bingley appears in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "Bingheleia".
Bingley was probably founded about the time of the Saxons; certainly its name is Saxon in origin. Bingley was founded by a ford on the River Aire. This crossing gave access to Harden, Cullingworth and Wilsden on the south side of the river.

The best thing about being a travel presenter is that I get to visit lots of different places and this is definitely one of them. Welcome to Glastonbury.
Glastonbury was discovered by Bruce Forsyth in 1967 and since then has become a popular destination, visited by thousands of people a year, namely the locals who have come to affectionately refer to the town as “home".
But Glastonbury isn’t just a town full of freaks and weirdos… I’m sorry, I read that wrong…. Glastonbury IS just a town full of freaks and weirdos and the high percentage of shops that sell products of no real use or value really makes that clear.
Take this shop for example which specialise in hemp screwdriver pouches.
One of the nicest things about Glastonbury is that all crime has been illegal here since 1997, making it one of the safest places in England. The tightened laws were brought in to effect after the murder Lord Alison Glastonbury in 1994. He was mutilated so badly that police could only identify the body by his anal records.
No trip to Glastonbury would be complete without a trip to Castle Greyskull which is where, legend has it, King Bruno sat and looked over the town while being pleasured by exotic Indian concubines. That was ages ago though, it’s empty now.

Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in the city of Swansea, South Wales that plays in the Premier League. Swansea City represent England when playing in European competitions, although they have represented Wales in the past. They play their home matches at the Liberty Stadium.

Swansea City Association Football Club is a Welsh professional football club based in the city of Swansea, South Wales that plays in the Premier League. Swansea City represent England when playing in European competitions, although they have represented Wales in the past. They play their home matches at the Liberty Stadium.

Bingley was once known as the Throstle's Nest of Old England - though there is no evidence that thrushes were more abundant there than in other parts.
It is more likely to be a reference to its position, nestling in a valley at a bend of the River Aire, five miles north of Bradford, reasonably sheltered from the prevailing blast of the north wind and on the edge of Rombalds Moor, known in popular song as Ilkley Moor.
There is no record of the first inhabitants. Although Druids' Altar, a sheer rock overlooking the valley, suggests ancient Celtic origins, its name is the product of a romantic tradition rather than real evidence. The town does, however, have a number of springs and wells with Celtic echoes, and a number of carved heads have been discovered around the town, some of them being incorporated in gateposts and garden walls.
At the bottom end of the town, Bailey Hills suggest the site of a castle, and one 17th Century historian claimed to found evidence of such a building.
The name recalls a Saxon owner called Byng. Lea is another word for field. It is a unique name - there isn't another Bingley anywhere.
The Romans knew it as a spot on their road from Ilkley to Manchester.
But to all intents and purposes, Bingley's story began in 1213AD with the granting of the manor of Bingley and a market charter by King John to one Maurice de Gant. Like the rest of the North of England, Bingley suffered from the Norman conquest and the Domesday Book logs the whole manor as four leagues long and one broad (the definition of a league varies, but up to three miles is commonly held to be the equivalent), and 'waste' - i.e. destroyed.
Through the middle ages and up to the Industrial Revolution, Bingley was more important than its neighbour Bradford.
It was a market town, a manufacturing town and an agricultural centre. The last of these is reflected today in the annual Bingley Show, the biggest one-day agricultural, horticultural, craft and horse show in Europe, traditionally on the first Wednesday in August.
Bingley joined the canal network before its neighbour and boasts one of the wonders of the waterway age in Five Rise Locks (1774), which raises boats on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal up sixty feet in five steps.
Apart from the canal and the river, the narrow valley also holds a railway and the main road from east of the Pennines to the Lakes and the west of Scotland - a communications bottleneck that has worsened over the years and blighted the town, absorbed into Bradford's local government set-up in 1974 and now as much a commuter dormitory as a marketing and manufacturing centre.
It houses the headquarters of the Bradford and Bingley Society, an architectural addition to the main street which has been less than universally welcomed.
But away from the main street Bingley can offer havens of rural tranquillity, with woodland walks along the river and through the St Ives estate, a gift to the town and its people from the Ferrand family, landowners.

With particular reference to Lady Khadija tul Kubra's contributions to business, trade and Islamic finance'. The keynote was followed by a panel discussion by leading senior industry practitioners, which focused on the themes of 'Reflections from the financial crises. Restoring ethics and integrity into the financial system'.

Rozpruwacz z Yorkshire seryjny morderca - cały film dokumentalny - lektor PL. Peter William Sutcliffe (ur. 2 czerwca 1946), znany jako Rozpruwacz z Yorkshire, w latach 1975-1980 zamordował trzynaście kobiet na północy Anglii, siedem innych zaś okaleczył.
Sutcliffe urodził się w Bingley, w Yorkshire, jego ojciec pracował w młynie. Postrzegany w szkole jako samotnik, zakończył edukację mając piętnaście lat. Po opuszczeniu szkoły chwytał się różnych robót - przez jakiś czas był grabarzem, w końcu otrzymał pracę w lokalnej fabryce, na nocnej zmianie.
W 1966 roku poznał Sonię Szurmę, którą osiem lat później, 10 sierpnia 1974 r. poślubił. Wkrótce potem został zwolniony z pracy w fabryce, wyrobił sobie jednak prawo jazdy na samochody ciężarowe i 29 września 1975 r. rozpoczął pracę jako kierowca. Jego żona kilkakrotnie poroniła, a lekarze orzekli, że nie będzie mogła mieć dzieci. Sonia Sutcliffe ukończyła kurs przygotowujący do zawodu nauczyciela i w 1977 r. podjęła pracę w tym zawodzie, dzięki czemu ona i Peter mogli nabyć swój pierwszy dom w Heaton, Bradford, dokąd przeprowadzili się w tym samym roku.2 stycznia 1981 roku Peter Sutcliffe zaczepił dwudziestoczteroletnią prostytutkę z Sheffield nazwiskiem Olivia Reivers, oferując dziesięć funtów za jej usługi. Zaparkowany przy odludnej drodze koło fabryki rover, w którym Sutcliffe otrzymywał to, za co zapłacił, zwrócił uwagę patrolujących okolicę policjantów, sierżanta Roberta Ringa i konstabla Roberta Hydesa. Policjanci przepytali znajdującą się w pojeździe parę. Sutcliffe przedstawił się jako Peter Williams, zaś Olivia powiedziała, że jest jego dziewczyną. W międzyczasie policjanci sprawdzili numery rovera, które okazały się należeć do skody. Po bliższym zbadaniu okazało się, że tablice rejestracyjne samochodu przymocowane były taśmą izolacyjną. Tymczasem Ring rozpoznał w towarzyszce Sutcliffe'a prostytutkę, mającą wyrok w zawieszeniu, zaprosił ją do radiowozu. Domniemany "Williams" oświadczył, że musi natychmiast się wysiusiać i oddalił się w ciemność, pod której osłoną ukrył przygotowane do krwawego dzieła młotek i nóż w szczelinie między ścianą budynku a cysterną paliwową.
Na posterunku Sutcliffe poprosił o pozwolenie skorzystania z łazienki, w której to łazience ukrył drugi nóż. Przyznał się do używania fałszywego nazwiska, jak również do kradzieży tablic rejestracyjnych, to ostatnie uzasadniając faktem, iż skończyło mu się ubezpieczenie. A ponieważ niedługo miał stanąć przed sądem za jazdę po pijanemu, był przekonany, że straci prawo jazdy, nie widział więc sensu w odnawianiu ubezpieczenia. W innych warunkach wyszedłby z aresztu za kaucją, jednakże akurat wtedy wydano rozporządzenie, w myśl którego każdy mężczyzna zatrzymany z prostytutką miał być zbadany przez ekipę prowadzącą śledztwo w sprawie Rozpruwacza z Yorkshire.
Peterowi pobrano próbkę krwi, która okazała się być rzadkiej grupy B. Następnego dnia po zatrzymaniu Sutcliffe'a sierżant Ring, pamiętając o wycieczce zatrzymanego, rzekomo "za potrzebą", postanowił dokładnie zbadać to miejsce. Odnalazł młotek i nóż, co sprawiło, że Sutcliffe, do tego momentu wciąż niezbyt mocno podejrzewany, stał się podejrzanym numer jeden. Przesłuchano Sonię Sutcliffe, której zeznania tym razem nie potwierdziły słów męża, nie dając mu alibi. Przesłuchany ponownie Sutcliffe spokojnie przyznał się, iż jest Rozpruwaczem z Yorkshire.
Proces rozpoczął się 5 maja 1981 roku. Oskarżał prokurator generalny sir Michael Havers. Obrona wniosła o uznanie Sutcliffe'a za niewinnego z powodu niepoczytalności, wyjaśniając iż oskarżony cierpi na schizofrenię paranoidalną. Sutcliffe oświadczył, że gdy pracował na cmentarzu w Bingley w 1967 roku, usłyszał przemawiający doń głos, a napis na pobliskim nagrobku, notabene w języku polskim, upewnił go, iż przemawia doń Jezus. To właśnie ów głos miał mu nakazać zabijanie prostytutek.
22 maja 1981 roku Peter William Sutcliffe został uznany za winnego wszystkich zarzucanych mu czynów i skazany na dożywotnie więzienie, z możliwością ubiegania się o zwolnienie warunkowe najwcześniej po trzydziestu latach.

Rozpruwacz z Yorkshire seryjny morderca - cały film dokumentalny - lektor PL. Peter William Sutcliffe (ur. 2 czerwca 1946), znany jako Rozpruwacz z Yorkshire, w latach 1975-1980 zamordował trzynaście kobiet na północy Anglii, siedem innych zaś okaleczył.
Sutcliffe urodził się w Bingley, w Yorkshire, jego ojciec pracował w młynie. Postrzegany w szkole jako samotnik, zakończył edukację mając piętnaście lat. Po opuszczeniu szkoły chwytał się różnych robót - przez jakiś czas był grabarzem, w końcu otrzymał pracę w lokalnej fabryce, na nocnej zmianie.
W 1966 roku poznał Sonię Szurmę, którą osiem lat później, 10 sierpnia 1974 r. poślubił. Wkrótce potem został zwolniony z pracy w fabryce, wyrobił sobie jednak prawo jazdy na samochody ciężarowe i 29 września 1975 r. rozpoczął pracę jako kierowca. Jego żona kilkakrotnie poroniła, a lekarze orzekli, że nie będzie mogła mieć dzieci. Sonia Sutcliffe ukończyła kurs przygotowujący do zawodu nauczyciela i w 1977 r. podjęła pracę w tym zawodzie, dzięki czemu ona i Peter mogli nabyć swój pierwszy dom w Heaton, Bradford, dokąd przeprowadzili się w tym samym roku.2 stycznia 1981 roku Peter Sutcliffe zaczepił dwudziestoczteroletnią prostytutkę z Sheffield nazwiskiem Olivia Reivers, oferując dziesięć funtów za jej usługi. Zaparkowany przy odludnej drodze koło fabryki rover, w którym Sutcliffe otrzymywał to, za co zapłacił, zwrócił uwagę patrolujących okolicę policjantów, sierżanta Roberta Ringa i konstabla Roberta Hydesa. Policjanci przepytali znajdującą się w pojeździe parę. Sutcliffe przedstawił się jako Peter Williams, zaś Olivia powiedziała, że jest jego dziewczyną. W międzyczasie policjanci sprawdzili numery rovera, które okazały się należeć do skody. Po bliższym zbadaniu okazało się, że tablice rejestracyjne samochodu przymocowane były taśmą izolacyjną. Tymczasem Ring rozpoznał w towarzyszce Sutcliffe'a prostytutkę, mającą wyrok w zawieszeniu, zaprosił ją do radiowozu. Domniemany "Williams" oświadczył, że musi natychmiast się wysiusiać i oddalił się w ciemność, pod której osłoną ukrył przygotowane do krwawego dzieła młotek i nóż w szczelinie między ścianą budynku a cysterną paliwową.
Na posterunku Sutcliffe poprosił o pozwolenie skorzystania z łazienki, w której to łazience ukrył drugi nóż. Przyznał się do używania fałszywego nazwiska, jak również do kradzieży tablic rejestracyjnych, to ostatnie uzasadniając faktem, iż skończyło mu się ubezpieczenie. A ponieważ niedługo miał stanąć przed sądem za jazdę po pijanemu, był przekonany, że straci prawo jazdy, nie widział więc sensu w odnawianiu ubezpieczenia. W innych warunkach wyszedłby z aresztu za kaucją, jednakże akurat wtedy wydano rozporządzenie, w myśl którego każdy mężczyzna zatrzymany z prostytutką miał być zbadany przez ekipę prowadzącą śledztwo w sprawie Rozpruwacza z Yorkshire.
Peterowi pobrano próbkę krwi, która okazała się być rzadkiej grupy B. Następnego dnia po zatrzymaniu Sutcliffe'a sierżant Ring, pamiętając o wycieczce zatrzymanego, rzekomo "za potrzebą", postanowił dokładnie zbadać to miejsce. Odnalazł młotek i nóż, co sprawiło, że Sutcliffe, do tego momentu wciąż niezbyt mocno podejrzewany, stał się podejrzanym numer jeden. Przesłuchano Sonię Sutcliffe, której zeznania tym razem nie potwierdziły słów męża, nie dając mu alibi. Przesłuchany ponownie Sutcliffe spokojnie przyznał się, iż jest Rozpruwaczem z Yorkshire.
Proces rozpoczął się 5 maja 1981 roku. Oskarżał prokurator generalny sir Michael Havers. Obrona wniosła o uznanie Sutcliffe'a za niewinnego z powodu niepoczytalności, wyjaśniając iż oskarżony cierpi na schizofrenię paranoidalną. Sutcliffe oświadczył, że gdy pracował na cmentarzu w Bingley w 1967 roku, usłyszał przemawiający doń głos, a napis na pobliskim nagrobku, notabene w języku polskim, upewnił go, iż przemawia doń Jezus. To właśnie ów głos miał mu nakazać zabijanie prostytutek.
22 maja 1981 roku Peter William Sutcliffe został uznany za winnego wszystkich zarzucanych mu czynów i skazany na dożywotnie więzienie, z możliwością ubiegania się o zwolnienie warunkowe najwcześniej po trzydziestu latach.

There so much fascinating architecture here, i do though think that when i was talking at the start i was getting the double pointed crosses mixed up as its Knights Of Malta that use the double pointed crosses, and the Jesuit Cross is the equilateral Cross ... Other than that slip up i hope you all a enjoy a peak here at what hides within my town !!! :) .
