Gish is the debut album by American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, released in May 1991 through Caroline Records. Frontman Billy Corgan described Gish as a "very spiritual album". Despite initially peaking at only number 195 on the Billboard 200 upon its release, Gish has been certified platinum (one million copies shipped) by the RIAA.
Gish was recorded from December 1990 to March 1991 in Butch Vig's Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin with a budget of $20,000. Vig and Billy Corgan worked together as co-producers. The longer recording period and larger budget were unprecedented for Vig, who later remembered,
(Corgan) wanted to make everything sound amazing and see how far he could take it; really spend time on the production and the performances. For me that was a godsend because I was used to doing records for all the indie labels and we only had budgets for three or four days. Having that luxury to spend hours on a guitar tone or tuning the drums or working on harmonies and textural things . . . I was over the moon to think I had found a comrade-in-arms who wanted to push me, and who really wanted me to push him.

Bury /ˈbɛrɪ/ is a town in Greater Manchester, England. It lies on the River Irwell, 5.5 miles (8.9 km) east of Bolton, 5.9 miles (9.5 km) west-southwest of Rochdale, and 7.9 miles (12.7 km) north-northwest of the city of Manchester. Bury is surrounded by several smaller settlements, which together form the Metropolitan Borough of Bury, with Bury as the largest settlement and administrative centre.
Historically a part of Lancashire, Bury emerged during the Industrial Revolution as a mill town centred on textile manufacture.
Bury is regionally notable for its open-air market - Bury Market - and its popularity has been increased since the introduction of the Manchester Metrolink tram system, which terminates in the town. The market is known for its supply of a local traditional dish - black pudding, served hot or cold and can be eaten either as a takeaway snack, or more commonly as an accompaniment or main ingredient of a meal starter or main course.

Bury me somewhere with a breeze
Bury me somewhere by the mere
Faith was holding out but today,
I woke up with a stranger
Bury me somewhere by the seaside
Bury me somewhere no one will find
Today's my falling down day
I don't know you, you're a stranger
And I'm alive,
By definition, I'm alive
Alive is relative
Alive is not what this is
I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive
I'm alive by definition
Bury me somewhere with a breeze
Bury me somewhere I can breathe
Faith was holding out but now,
You're no more than a stranger
And I'm alive,
I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive
I'm alive
