:::SORRY about the ads! ~
Copyright "Owners" have monetized this page. I don't get a penny. You might have thought They (
NONE of Whom has made an espresso for ENNIO nor found a quill for "
Mozart") you MIGHT be forgiven for imagining They would have 'gifted' its use, as Their birthday gift to THE
Maestro?!
Alas, no! …I do believe it was the anarchist
Proudhon who said: "PROPERTY IS THEFT!"::::
IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that You see (preferably
FIRST, as a prelude) ::::

IT WAS WONDERFUL that, on his 75th birthday, the "grande maestro" as
Quincy Jones calls Ennio; I call him Ennio
Amadeus Morricone ~ he would be coming to
London's Albert Hall, one of the world's premier venues for the performing arts ~ to present a '
Concerto' {{in
English, 'Concert'}} of some of his known, well-loved and a tiny few of His lesser-known 'pezzi' or pieces.
My brother GORDON said, "Get two of the best seats, and
I'll come down." And he brought down from
Glasgow his little
Panasonic camcorder, an NV-GS5. I did the 'establishing shot', and
Gordon shot beautifully ALL of Part 1. I did give Him discreet gestural direction. HOWEVER ::::Part 2 …was another story!
DURING THE INTERVAL one or more of the emblazored flunkies walkie-talkied-on-down the heavy 'security' geezer: NO VIDEOING!! What a shame!
DISCREETLY, Gordon ~ once back in his seat and just-about to luxuriate in the Vocals ~ he switched back on the camcorder ….and just let it 'pick up' what it might. Part 2 WILL DISAPPOINT MANY, not least with Me COUGHING! (
Sorry).
NOW, the
Quality of this film I made …is not technically 'top-notch' ~ this was the days before HD, let alone 4K, and it's not
16:9. YouTube was but a twinkle in its Fathers' eyes. It was recorded on two DV tapes, which, with the pace of technological change will soon probably become like clay tablets.
It's been such a long time coming...
BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I have only seen this 'footage' taken almost accidentally at times by my one sibling WHILE IT WAS UPLOADING Here ~ almost exactly 12 years to the hour after the 'reality'.
I'D JUST LIKE to
point out TWO very 'telling' details on here:
TAKE A
LOOK @ say 34:40 ~ and notice how Ennio grants
Dulce THE
FREEDOM to begin to '~Improvise~'. It is Morricone's towering and touring anthem about the abolition of
Slavery ...so, how appropriate then, to
Free The Vocalist ~ not from prison bars (like those two poor buggers
Sacco & Vanzetti that Dulce sings about) nor indeed 'Bars", as in drinking dens …but bars on stave paper!
CHECK OUT around 55:15 after the
Encores, and see (however briefly) where ENNIO has not focused His gratitude for attendance on the front-rowers, or even the Carroll
Brothers at almost eye-level, but above it all… to '
The Gods': what is called the '
Gallery', to those who have
Paid the LEAST (in terms of ticket-price) because
Up There: are THE STUDENTS, among them, the future makers of
Music.
Bravo, grande maestro. Bravo!
Ennio Morricone? GENIO Morricone!
