George Benson has been idolised as one of the most creative and talented jazz funk guitarists since his first breakthrough
album and single in the mid
1970's, he had done plenty of tours and albums before that but his
1976 album
Breezin' was the cross-over recording that brought him mainstream chart success. For many years he has been an Ibanez endorsee and already has several Ibanez signature model jazz style guitars. Here we look at one of them
... The Ibanez LGB30 - known as the "
Little George Benson" model due to the smaller body size of the instrument.
Here’s another video in a series of guitar demo’s with the wonderful guitarist
Jess Lewis improvising some fine jazz inspired laid back grooves. Many thanks

As part of the Ibanez
Prestige range the LGB30 conforms to previous George Benson
Signature models and the body shape is that of a hollow jazz style guitar with a single cut-away at the right hand shoulder along with dual "f" style sound holes.
The body itself has been made using a Spruce top with Flamed
Maple back & sides complimented by a 3-piece
Mahogany/Maple in-set neck. The bound
Ebony fretboard has inlaid
Acrylic block fret markers with decorative Abalone centre pieces and the medium gauge frets have been given the Ibanez
Artstar fret edge treatment for a more luxurious playing experience.
Sound comes from dual Ibanez
Super 58 hum-bucking pick-ups which are managed each by their own tone and volume sure-grip knobs along with a 3-way toggle-style pick-up selector switch located at the right hand shoulder of the instrument.
Hardware is in
Gold to contrast the
Vintage yellow
Sunburst finish and includes the Ibanez ART-1 fully adjustable bridge and LBG30 tailpiece with its ornate Abalone inlays. A rarely seen cosmetic feature of the Ibanez LGB30 is the fact that the Vintage yellow
Sunburst has also been applied to the floating scratch plate and the LGB30 also comes with its own hard case ...
