The first Malayan Emergency had lasted from 1948 till 1960. In 1969, Malaysia faced another bloody communist insurgency.The Malaysian authorities immediately formed a special elite unit – VAT 69 Commando. Their task: to engage the communists in guerilla warfare. The pioneer troopers of VAT 69 Commando were trained by the British SAS. They matured into tough jungle fighters in the intense tropical jungle. For more than 20 years, VAT 69 battled the communists’ crusade to turn Malaysia into a communist people’s republic, suffering some painful losses in the process.The communists agreed to lay down arms in 1989, thanks largely to VAT 69 Commando.

Hj Mohd Tawel bin Jailani merupakan individu yang bertanggungjawab membuat rekaan lambang Komando 69 pada tahun 1969 ketika beliau berkhidmat dalam Patrol 4. Kreativitinya dalam mereka lambang Komando 69 yang membawa maksudnya tersendiri, menyuntik semangat dan jiwa perwira dalam setiap ahli pasukan unit gerakan khas Polis Diraja Malaysia. Malah lambang yang direka oleh dia itu masih digunakan sehingga hari ini.
Dia juga pernah bertempur dengan komunis di sekitar Pahang, Kelantan dan Perak sepanjang tempoh perkhidmatannya. Pencapaian bersama pasukannya, di antaranya adalah berjaya membunuh beberapa pengganas komunis, memusnahkan kem-kem komunis, menghancurkan food-dump komunis serta melumpuhkan rangkaian komunis. Dia juga pernah menjadi pengintip di sempadan Thailand. Malah dengan keberaniannya, dia juga pernah menyamar menjadi pasukan sahabat untuk mengelirukan pihak musuh.
Pengalaman yang paling tidak dapat dia lupakan adalah di mana dia telah mengalami kemalangan jerangkap samar letupan ketika mengejar musuh yang lari ke arah sempadan mengakibatkan dia hilang keupayaan untuk berjalan dan deria penglihatan. Pengorbanan serta jiwa kewiraan yang dimiliki olehnya demi negara yang tak ternilai adalah kisah yang harus dikongsikan dan ditanam dalam setiap jiwa generasi belia pada hari ini.
Atas jasa perkhidmatan dan pengorbanannya dalam melindungi keselamatan negara, dia telah dianugerahkan dengan pingat Khidmat Setia Negara dan pingat Jasa Kebaktian.

Vat 69
Vat 69 is a Scotch blended whisky created by William Sanderson & Son Limited of South Queensferry, Scotland, now part of Diageo. The whisky was at first bottled in port bottles.
History
William Sanderson was born in Leith, Scotland in 1839. He started an apprenticeship with a wine and spirituous liquors producer at the age of 13. By 1863, he already owned his own business producing liqueurs and whisky blends. In 1880, his son William Mark joined the business and persuaded his father to bottle various blends of whisky.
The iconic Vat 69 bottle with its bulbous neck was introduced to the market and was not changed for the next hundred years. In 1882, William Sanderson prepared one hundred casks of blended whisky and hired a panel of experts to taste them. The batch from the cask (or “vat”) with number 69 was judged to be the best, and this provided the whisky's brand name. The whisky was at first bottled in port bottles. In 1884, Sanderson bought the Glen Garioch distillery. It was situated in the middle of a barley field. The distillery was meant to ensure the delivery of grain whisky.

Hj Mohd Tawel bin Jailani merupakan individu yang bertanggungjawab membuat rekaan lambang Komando 69 pada tahun 1969 ketika beliau berkhidmat dalam Patrol 4. Kreativitinya dalam mereka lambang Komando 69 yang membawa maksudnya tersendiri, menyuntik semangat dan jiwa perwira dalam setiap ahli pasukan unit gerakan khas Polis Diraja Malaysia. Malah lambang yang direka oleh dia itu masih digunakan sehingga hari ini.
Dia juga pernah bertempur dengan komunis di sekitar Pahang, Kelantan dan Perak sepanjang tempoh perkhidmatannya. Pencapaian bersama pasukannya, di antaranya adalah berjaya membunuh beberapa pengganas komunis, memusnahkan kem-kem komunis, menghancurkan food-dump komunis serta melumpuhkan rangkaian komunis. Dia juga pernah menjadi pengintip di sempadan Thailand. Malah dengan keberaniannya, dia juga pernah menyamar menjadi pasukan sahabat untuk mengelirukan pihak musuh.
Pengalaman yang paling tidak dapat dia lupakan adalah di mana dia telah mengalami kemalangan jerangkap samar letupan ketika mengejar musuh yang lari ke arah sempadan mengakibatkan dia hilang keupayaan untuk berjalan dan deria penglihatan. Pengorbanan serta jiwa kewiraan yang dimiliki olehnya demi negara yang tak ternilai adalah kisah yang harus dikongsikan dan ditanam dalam setiap jiwa generasi belia pada hari ini.
Atas jasa perkhidmatan dan pengorbanannya dalam melindungi keselamatan negara, dia telah dianugerahkan dengan pingat Khidmat Setia Negara dan pingat Jasa Kebaktian.

The first Malayan Emergency had lasted from 1948 till 1960. In 1969, Malaysia faced another bloody communist insurgency.The Malaysian authorities immediately formed a special elite unit – VAT 69 Commando. Their task: to engage the communists in guerilla warfare. The pioneer troopers of VAT 69 Commando were trained by the British SAS. They matured into tough jungle fighters in the intense tropical jungle. For more than 20 years, VAT 69 battled the communists’ crusade to turn Malaysia into a communist people’s republic, suffering some painful losses in the process.The communists agreed to lay down arms in 1989, thanks largely to VAT 69 Commando.

Hj Mohd Tawel bin Jailani merupakan individu yang bertanggungjawab membuat rekaan lambang Komando 69 pada tahun 1969 ketika beliau berkhidmat dalam Patrol 4. Kreativitinya dalam mereka lambang Komando 69 yang membawa maksudnya tersendiri, menyuntik semangat dan jiwa perwira dalam setiap ahli pasukan unit gerakan khas Polis Diraja Malaysia. Malah lambang yang direka oleh dia itu masih digunakan sehingga hari ini.
Dia juga pernah bertempur dengan komunis di sekitar Pahang, Kelantan dan Perak sepanjang tempoh perkhidmatannya. Pencapaian bersama pasukannya, di antaranya adalah berjaya membunuh beberapa pengganas komunis, memusnahkan kem-kem komunis, menghancurkan food-dump komunis serta melumpuhkan rangkaian komunis. Dia juga pernah menjadi pengintip di sempadan Thailand. Malah dengan keberaniannya, dia juga pernah menyamar menjadi pasukan sahabat untuk mengelirukan pihak musuh.
Pengalaman yang paling tidak dapat dia lupakan adalah di mana dia telah mengalami kemalangan jerangkap samar letupan ketika mengejar musuh yang lari ke arah sempadan mengakibatkan dia hilang keupayaan untuk berjalan dan deria penglihatan. Pengorbanan serta jiwa kewiraan yang dimiliki olehnya demi negara yang tak ternilai adalah kisah yang harus dikongsikan dan ditanam dalam setiap jiwa generasi belia pada hari ini.
Atas jasa perkhidmatan dan pengorbanannya dalam melindungi keselamatan negara, dia telah dianugerahkan dengan pingat Khidmat Setia Negara dan pingat Jasa Kebaktian.

The first Malayan Emergency had lasted from 1948 till 1960. In 1969, Malaysia faced another bloody communist insurgency.The Malaysian authorities immediately formed a special elite unit – VAT 69 Commando. Their task: to engage the communists in guerilla warfare. The pioneer troopers of VAT 69 Commando were trained by the British SAS. They matured into tough jungle fighters in the intense tropical jungle. For more than 20 years, VAT 69 battled the communists’ crusade to turn Malaysia into a communist people’s republic, suffering some painful losses in the process.The communists agreed to lay down arms in 1989, thanks largely to VAT 69 Commando.
