Port Orange
City in Florida - Port Orange police detectives on Friday released body camera video taken during the arrest of a man who stands accused in the attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl.
Jonathan Buchanan, 26, was taken into custody on Thursday, the same day authorities said he tried to kidnap a girl who was walking by herself along Peninsula Drive to catch a school bus.
"A car approached her from behind, stopped the car in the middle of the road,, suspect got out and tried to make small talk with our victim," said Chief Frank Fabrazio.
He says the situation escalated fast.
"Then, [he] actually grabbed her in the rear end, grabbed her hand when she pulled away. He grabbed her put one hand around her waist one hand around her mouth and tried to drag her into his car."
The 16-year-old fought back, swinging and biting.
"She tried to bite his hand and that's when he let go and that's when she started screaming and he went ran back to the car and took off," said Chief Fabrazio.
The victim called 911 and within minutes Daytona Shores Police saw the suspect's car going 70 miles per hour heading towards the bridge to the mainland.
"What I think was a little odd, when the police officer pulled him over, his pants were unbuttoned and the zipper was open, he had a teddy bear in the car. I don't think those are normal things someone drives around with," said Chief Fabrazio.
Investigators say the victim was able to positively ID her attacker and that Buchanan had a fresh mark on his hand.
"He had an inch or two scratch on his hand, could have been from a tooth or braces."
Chief Fabrazio says the brave teen's quick thinking saved her from a very dangerous situation.
"Based on the info I have right now, I think his intentions were very bad."
Buchanan made his first appearance before a judge on Friday.
He is being held on a $75,000 bond. His attorney said that bond amount is excessive and they will be asking for another bond hearing in the near future.

We found the best homemade pierogies at Bella Ryan's Deli on Nova Road in Port Orange, FL. (Online at https://bellaryansdeli.weebly.com) The owner, Ashlee Dzubella, has been making pierogies since she was about 5 years old. We had lunch there, and then ordered a bunch of the pierogies for a special dinner we were hosting for my dad (who is Polish).
These pierogies are probably the largest I've ever had, and they were delicious! We pan fried them with butter and a little chopped onion, and then topped them with sour cream. Wonderful!

http://daytonabeachvideomarketing.com - It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining. I was driving south to look at some used cars. Behind me at a traffic light was a young man on a motorcycle Not one of the big Harleys' I see often in the Daytona Beach area, but fast bike, like the ones that recently competed in the Daytona 200 at the Daytona International Speedway during Daytona Bike Week 2014.
He was anxious to get around me, and did so when the light turned green. I knew I'd catch him at the next traffic light, a few blocks ahead.
When I did, he was the first in line, next to a sporty red car with it's top down.
I thought they might "race" and started to record. The red car didn't accelerate, but the motorcycle did. In 5 seconds the motorcyclists' life would change, if not end. He didn't know it.
As he accelerated, a large pickup truck turned left.
I wanted to post this with the hope that someone will see it, and think about how they ride and/or drive.
The motorcyclist was fortunate that an emergency unit was only a block away. I realized how we take certain services for granted, until we need them.
May you never need EMT service, but if you do, I hope they are quick to respond for you, as they were for this guy.

Port Orange
City in Florida - Port Orange police detectives on Friday released body camera video taken during the arrest of a man who stands accused in the attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl.
Jonathan Buchanan, 26, was taken into custody on Thursday, the same day authorities said he tried to kidnap a girl who was walking by herself along Peninsula Drive to catch a school bus.
"A car approached her from behind, stopped the car in the middle of the road,, suspect got out and tried to make small talk with our victim," said Chief Frank Fabrazio.
He says the situation escalated fast.
"Then, [he] actually grabbed her in the rear end, grabbed her hand when she pulled away. He grabbed her put one hand around her waist one hand around her mouth and tried to drag her into his car."
The 16-year-old fought back, swinging and biting.
"She tried to bite his hand and that's when he let go and that's when she started screaming and he went ran back to the car and took off," said Chief Fabrazio.
The victim called 911 and within minutes Daytona Shores Police saw the suspect's car going 70 miles per hour heading towards the bridge to the mainland.
"What I think was a little odd, when the police officer pulled him over, his pants were unbuttoned and the zipper was open, he had a teddy bear in the car. I don't think those are normal things someone drives around with," said Chief Fabrazio.
Investigators say the victim was able to positively ID her attacker and that Buchanan had a fresh mark on his hand.
"He had an inch or two scratch on his hand, could have been from a tooth or braces."
Chief Fabrazio says the brave teen's quick thinking saved her from a very dangerous situation.
"Based on the info I have right now, I think his intentions were very bad."
Buchanan made his first appearance before a judge on Friday.
He is being held on a $75,000 bond. His attorney said that bond amount is excessive and they will be asking for another bond hearing in the near future.

We found the best homemade pierogies at Bella Ryan's Deli on Nova Road in Port Orange, FL. We had lunch there, and then ordered a bunch of the pierogies for a special dinner we were hosting for my dad (who is Polish).
These pierogies are probably the largest I've ever had, and they were delicious! We pan fried them with butter and a little chopped onion, and then topped them with sour cream. Wonderful!

Behind me at a traffic light was a young man on a motorcycle Not one of the big Harleys' I see often in the Daytona Beach area, but fast bike, like the ones that recently competed in the Daytona 200 at the Daytona International Speedway during Daytona Bike Week 2014.
He was anxious to get around me, and did so when the light turned green. I knew I'd catch him at the next traffic light, a few blocks ahead.
When I did, he was the first in line, next to a sporty red car with it's top down.
I thought they might "race" and started to record. The red car didn't accelerate, but the motorcycle did. In 5 seconds the motorcyclists' life would change, if not end. He didn't know it.
As he accelerated, a large pickup truck turned left.
I wanted to post this with the hope that someone will see it, and think about how they ride and/or drive.
The motorcyclist was fortunate that an emergency unit was only a block away. I realized how we take certain services for granted, until we need them.
May you never need EMT service, but if you do, I hope they are quick to respond for you, as they were for this guy.

City in Florida - Port Orange police detectives on Friday released body camera video taken during the arrest of a man who stands accused in the attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl.
Jonathan Buchanan, 26, was taken into custody on Thursday, the same day authorities said he tried to kidnap a girl who was walking by herself along Peninsula Drive to catch a school bus.

He says the situation escalated fast.
"Then, [he] actually grabbed her in the rear end, grabbed her hand when she pulled away. He grabbed her put one hand around her waist one hand around her mouth and tried to drag her into his car."
The 16-year-old fought back, swinging and biting.
"She tried to bite his hand and that's when he let go and that's when she started screaming and he went ran back to the car and took off," said Chief Fabrazio.
The victim called 911 and within minutes Daytona Shores Police saw the suspect's car going 70 miles per hour heading towards the bridge to the mainland.
"What I think was a little odd, when the police officer pulled him over, his pants were unbuttoned and the zipper was open, he had a teddy bear in the car. I don't think those are normal things someone drives around with," said Chief Fabrazio.
Investigators say the victim was able to positively ID her attacker and that Buchanan had a fresh mark on his hand.
"He had an inch or two scratch on his hand, could have been from a tooth or braces."
Chief Fabrazio says the brave teen's quick thinking saved her from a very dangerous situation.
"Based on the info I have right now, I think his intentions were very bad."
Buchanan made his first appearance before a judge on Friday.
He is being held on a $75,000 bond. His attorney said that bond amount is excessive and they will be asking for another bond hearing in the near future.

Port Orange
City in Florida - Port Orange police detectives on Friday released body camera video taken during the arrest of a man who stands accused in the attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl.
Jonathan Buchanan, 26, was taken into custody on Thursday, the same day authorities said he tried to kidnap a girl who was walking by herself along Peninsula Drive to catch a school bus.
"A car approached her from behind, stopped the car in the middle of the road,, suspect got out and tried to make small talk with our victim," said Chief Frank Fabrazio.
He says the situation escalated fast.
"Then, [he] actually grabbed her in the rear end, grabbed her hand when she pulled away. He grabbed her put one hand around her waist one hand around her mouth and tried to drag her into his car."
The 16-year-old fought back, swinging and biting.
"She tried to bite his hand and that's when he let go and that's when she started screaming and he went ran back to the car and took off," said Chief Fabrazio.
The victim called 911 and within minutes Daytona Shores Police saw the suspect's car going 70 miles per hour heading towards the bridge to the mainland.
"What I think was a little odd, when the police officer pulled him over, his pants were unbuttoned and the zipper was open, he had a teddy bear in the car. I don't think those are normal things someone drives around with," said Chief Fabrazio.
Investigators say the victim was able to positively ID her attacker and that Buchanan had a fresh mark on his hand.
"He had an inch or two scratch on his hand, could have been from a tooth or braces."
Chief Fabrazio says the brave teen's quick thinking saved her from a very dangerous situation.
"Based on the info I have right now, I think his intentions were very bad."
Buchanan made his first appearance before a judge on Friday.
He is being held on a $75,000 bond. His attorney said that bond amount is excessive and they will be asking for another bond hearing in the near future.

We found the best homemade pierogies at Bella Ryan's Deli on Nova Road in Port Orange, FL. We had lunch there, and then ordered a bunch of the pierogies for a special dinner we were hosting for my dad (who is Polish).
These pierogies are probably the largest I've ever had, and they were delicious! We pan fried them with butter and a little chopped onion, and then topped them with sour cream. Wonderful!

Behind me at a traffic light was a young man on a motorcycle Not one of the big Harleys' I see often in the Daytona Beach area, but fast bike, like the ones that recently competed in the Daytona 200 at the Daytona International Speedway during Daytona Bike Week 2014.
He was anxious to get around me, and did so when the light turned green. I knew I'd catch him at the next traffic light, a few blocks ahead.
When I did, he was the first in line, next to a sporty red car with it's top down.
I thought they might "race" and started to record. The red car didn't accelerate, but the motorcycle did. In 5 seconds the motorcyclists' life would change, if not end. He didn't know it.
As he accelerated, a large pickup truck turned left.
I wanted to post this with the hope that someone will see it, and think about how they ride and/or drive.
The motorcyclist was fortunate that an emergency unit was only a block away. I realized how we take certain services for granted, until we need them.
May you never need EMT service, but if you do, I hope they are quick to respond for you, as they were for this guy.
