Working day, my short film made in new Zealand in 2010 and awarded by Peter Jackson in the contest called "Your big break".
In the words of Peter Jackson:
"This short film stood out as a fresh and original piece of storytelling. I loved the whismical way it showcased the natural beauty of our country; its humour kept the viewer engaged and entertained from beginning to end. Most importantly it made you want to see more of the stunning landscapes of New Zealand. I was particularly impressed by the director's use of camera, the editing and the strong visual story-telling. This was an extremely accomplished piece of filmmaking. Congratulations Andrés - I will definitely be keeping an eye out for your future work."

The contest was planned by Tourism new Zealand and Barrie Osborne, producer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It consisted on delivering a three minutes short film script telling a charming story about new Zealand within the concept that it is the youngest country on earth.
Over 1000 scripts were presented from around world and only 5 were chosen by the judges. these 5 lucky film makers traveled to New Zealand for three weeks to direct their short films with the aid of a professional crew and a budget of 100.000 $NZ. I, Andrés, was among these 5 finalists with my short film called Working Day, a comedic story about the creator of New Zealand: A giant and humble working man.
It was filmed in Queenstown, New Zealand, more specificaly in the beatiful Glenorchy beach.
After the 5 films were finished the competition went on to it's next stage: Choosing a winner within those 5. For this important task tourism New Zealand asked Peter Jackson himself (director of The Lord of the Rings trilogy) to be the judge that would choose the big winner.
The winner was my film Working day.
The price was to attend to the Independent Spirit Awards ceremony in Los Angeles and being part of the Tourism New Zealand staff promoting the short films.
The story was approved by a Maori descendants commitee which liked the story and its portrayal of their ancestors.
Many important people worked in Working Day:
It was edited by Annie Collins: One of the persons that edited the third Lord of the Rings film, and the sound design was done by Dave Whitehead: the sound designer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong, pirates of the Caribbean, District 9, and many more.

Sir Peter Robert Jackson, KNZM (born 31 October 1961) is a New Zealand film director, producer, actor, and screenwriter, who is well known for his The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001 to 2003), adapted from the novel by J. R. R. Tolkien.
He won international attention early in his career with his "splatstick" horror comedies beginning with Bad Taste (1987) before coming to mainstream prominence with Heavenly Creatures (1994), for which he shared an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay nomination with his wife, Fran Walsh. Jackson has been awarded three Academy Awards in his career, including the award for Best Director in 2003; he also won the BAFTA, Golden Globe and Saturn Award for Best Direction the same year.
His films also include Meet the Feebles (1989), Braindead (1992), Forgotten Silver (1995), The Frighteners (1996), King Kong (2005),The Lovely Bones (2009), and the upcoming The Lord of the Rings prequels The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) and The Hobbit: There and Back Again (2013). He is also the producer of District 9 (2009) and The Adventures of Tintin (2011).

The contest was planned by Tourism new Zealand and Barrie Osborne, producer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It consisted on delivering a three minutes short film script telling a charming story about new Zealand within the concept that it is the youngest country on earth.
Over 1000 scripts were presented from around world and only 5 were chosen by the judges. these 5 lucky film makers traveled to New Zealand for three weeks to direct their short films with the aid of a professional crew and a budget of 100.000 $NZ. I, Andrés, was among these 5 finalists with my short film called Working Day, a comedic story about the creator of New Zealand: A giant and humble working man.
It was filmed in Queenstown, New Zealand, more specificaly in the beatiful Glenorchy beach.
After the 5 films were finished the competition went on to it's next stage: Choosing a winner within those 5. For this important task tourism New Zealand asked Peter Jackson himself (director of The Lord of the Rings trilogy) to be the judge that would choose the big winner.
The winner was my film Working day.
The price was to attend to the Independent Spirit Awards ceremony in Los Angeles and being part of the Tourism New Zealand staff promoting the short films.
The story was approved by a Maori descendants commitee which liked the story and its portrayal of their ancestors.

Working day, my short film made in new Zealand in 2010 and awarded by Peter Jackson in the contest called "Your big break".
In the words of Peter Jackson:
"This short film stood out as a fresh and original piece of storytelling. I loved the whismical way it showcased the natural beauty of our country; its humour kept the viewer engaged and entertained from beginning to end. Most importantly it made you want to see more of the stunning landscapes of New Zealand. I was particularly impressed by the director's use of camera, the editing and the strong visual story-telling. This was an extremely accomplished piece of filmmaking. Congratulations Andrés - I will definitely be keeping an eye out for your future work."

The contest was planned by Tourism new Zealand and Barrie Osborne, producer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It consisted on delivering a three minutes short film script telling a charming story about new Zealand within the concept that it is the youngest country on earth.
Over 1000 scripts were presented from around world and only 5 were chosen by the judges. these 5 lucky film makers traveled to New Zealand for three weeks to direct their short films with the aid of a professional crew and a budget of 100.000 $NZ. I, Andrés, was among these 5 finalists with my short film called Working Day, a comedic story about the creator of New Zealand: A giant and humble working man.
It was filmed in Queenstown, New Zealand, more specificaly in the beatiful Glenorchy beach.
After the 5 films were finished the competition went on to it's next stage: Choosing a winner within those 5. For this important task tourism New Zealand asked Peter Jackson himself (director of The Lord of the Rings trilogy) to be the judge that would choose the big winner.
The winner was my film Working day.
The price was to attend to the Independent Spirit Awards ceremony in Los Angeles and being part of the Tourism New Zealand staff promoting the short films.
The story was approved by a Maori descendants commitee which liked the story and its portrayal of their ancestors.

After his success, he went on to making "King Kong" and "Lovely Bones" and produced "District 9". Although "District 9" is not part of this tribute, this video contains most of films that Peter Jackson has created in his career. He is very well known as the Lord of the Ring trilogy of making large epic films and his story of the Lord of the Ring will continue with a 2-part film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien novel "The Hobbit", which is set to be released in 2012. He is a great director and made some of my favorite films.

He is very well known as the Lord of the Ring trilogy of making large epic films and his story of the Lord of the Ring will continue with a 2-part film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien novel "The Hobbit", which is set to be released in 2012. He is a great director and made some of my favorite films.

Hollywood A-listers Simon Pegg and Martin Freeman braved the Wellington rain here in New Zealand to walk the red carpet at the premiere of The World's End alongside plenty of familiar faces from the Hobbit films on Saturday night.
The pair, who star in the movie, were joined by co-star Nick Frost, and Sir Peter Jackson, Benedict Cumberbatch and James Nesbitt.
The World's End is the third film in what is known as the Cornetto trilogy, and is directed by Edgar Wright and co-written by Pegg.
The sci-fi action comedy follows Pegg and his band of five mates as they set out on a pub crawl in their small English hometown, but stumble into a battle for the survival of mankind.
The film, released in New Zealand on Thursday, is the third from the trio after they worked on Shaun of the Dead in 2004 and Hot Fuzz in 2007.

Sir Peter Jackson was joined by his wife, screenwriter and collaborator Fran Walsh and their children Katie and Billy.
His movies have grossed nearly $2 billion in worldwide box office sales and he is the man behind bringing two of J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved books to the big screen.
So, a few weeks ahead of the final instalment in The Hobbit franchise, it was only fitting that New Zealand director Peter Jackson was honoured with the 2,538th star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
The 53-year-old was cheered on by Hobbit actors Andy Serkis, Evangeline Lilly, Richard Armitage, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood and Lee Pace at the unveiling, on Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles.
Sir Peter Jackson commented: 'This street here - the first time I ever saw it was when I was 12 years old in 1974 when my mum and dad brought me here on a trip. I had been making movies in New Zealand on my Super 8 camera for three or four years and I walked down the street and I looked at these stars and I never ever in my wildest dreams thought I'd be here today.
